The love of Drew Walker’s life left to pursue her dream. He told her to go, forced her to go, knowing that a stripper’s daughter would never be able to escape her mother’s past. In the wake of her leaving, she left him with a broken heart. A heart that he’s held very close to himself for the last ten years.
Daughter Friend Attorney
Charity Thomas has worked hard to get out from under the stigma of being the daughter of Jasmine from Wet Wanda’s. Ten years away from home gave her the distance to grow a backbone; it also gave her enough time to miss the hell out of Drew.
When Meredith Blackfoot entices her back to Bowling Green to deal with a situation at CRISIS, none of them realize the danger they are in. Home invasions, a woman and daughter running for their lives, and an attempt on Charity’s life puts Heaven Hill on alert like they’ve never been before.
When the smoke clears, the bad guys are caught, and Charity is ultimately in Drew’s arms, they can all breathe a sigh of relief. In their hour of need, Charity is finally home.
I have loved this series since the first book and to know Laramie makes me fall in love with each book even more says she is as amazing as the stories she shares with us. Drew and Charity's story was beautiful, sweet and hopeful. He sent her away when they were kids so she c know rule have a promising future. It is the testament of real love and putting someone above your own happiness. The heart break they went through was raw and gutting but they both held on to hope and found they're way back home. This story was well written with so much emotion and sincerity I could feel it in the words. I cannot wait for the next one. Congratulations on another extraordinary book.
I really do love Laramie Briscoe's writing, and Home Free is a fabulous addition to the Heaven Hill series. I was left chomping at the bit for Drew and Charity's story at the end of the last book, and Home Free didn't disappoint.
A sweet second chance romance with a bit of suspense thrown in, as well as a catch up with characters from earlier books. So glad to see Liam and Tyler hadn't lost their hotness :D
Now, I'm left chomping for Manda's story due out in the spring 2016.
I have admit I love everything about the Heaven Hill MC series. I enjoy how we get to see some of our favorite couples in each of the books. Drew and Charity were one of those precious couples I waited for anxiously. Thank you Ms. Briscoe it was a great book.
This is such a hard review for me to write because I have loved this series so much and have watched this author’s career from the start and I wanted so very much to love Home Free by Laramie Briscoe, but unfortunately this book missed the mark for me. Ten years after Charity Thomas left Bowling Green, Kentucky and the love of her teenage life, Drew Walker, she has come back to repay a favor to a friend not knowing if she’ll stay or how she’ll react to being near Drew again or how he’ll react to her being back in his life.
In several previous books of this series we had glimpses of the teenage love between Drew and Charity and we saw a bit of the aftermath when she left town to pursue college and a career. The thing is, I wanted to see more of the time they were apart. We didn’t see Charity’s struggles and we only saw Drew’s struggle on the surface. I was disappointed that these characters weren’t developed more fully and we never really got to know the adult version of them. Their childhoods were no doubt messed up and several events in their lives shaped them into the people they are, but there was a huge chunk of time missing, important time in which they grew into the adults they are. This unfortunately made them feel somewhat one dimensional to me and I never really felt connected to either one of them during this book.
Charity comes back to town at the request of Meredith Blackfoot to help a mother and daughter with some legal issues involving a man that Charity has dealt with in the past. As an attorney and because she feels she owes Meredith a debt of gratitude she agrees to return. The ongoing case and the resulting investigation seemed to overshadow their relationship and to be honest I felt they slipped way to easily back into a relationship especially give how very little they talked about their lives. I get that they had an intense connection and they believe they never stopped loving one another, but on the other hand I question how well they really know one another given they’ve spent 10 years apart and never talked about that time. While I didn’t expect Drew to be a hearts and roses kind of guy there just seemed to be so much missing, very little romance and they both just turned a blind eye to the past.
I enjoyed seeing many of the characters from previous books and it was kind of wild seeing the young kids from previous book now pre-teens and teenagers giving us a good look at to what might be possibly coming in the future.
I am thrilled that Drew and Charity are back together again and while not my favorite book in this series; I still wouldn’t have missed Home Free by Laramie Briscoe for anything.
Heaven Hill...always amazing...and the second generation is no different!!! Drew's continued love for Charity melted my heart. So loved seeing them get their HEA. Now bring on Mandy & Dalton!!!
This is the story of Drew and Charity. We met Drew in Book 1 at the age of 13. Drew and Charity's. Even 10 years apart couldn't dimmed the beautiful of love they share. Charity is strong woman that doesn't play games to get what she wants. Drew is all man. He's not afraid to embrace his feelings. A story worth reading
Every time I read a book in this series, I think it can't possibly get better but the do. I can't wait for #9. I get chills finishing one book and the anticipation to see how the next one starts. You just can't help hoping every couple gets their happily ever after.
OMGosh....I love this Heaven Hills M.C ....This book show how strong love can be and never give up on your dreams....The court house scene terrified me...
Home Free (Heaven Hill #8) By: Laramie Briscoe 3/5 stars
Charity grew up as the stripper’s daughter and thus, was always looked down upon in not only high school, but their entire town. There was no way for her to live that down when everyone wanted to hold it against her and throw it in her face. In order to make something of herself, she had to leave town, go to college and make a successful life. It broke her heart leaving Drew, her high school sweetheart, at home, but it was at his insistence that she left Kentucky to go to college. She became an attorney in North Carolina and has been working ever since.
Drew became a member of the Heaven Hill Motorcycle Club and a mechanic so that he could work at his dad’s/the club’s auto shop, Walker’s Wheels. It broke his heart and left him devastated, but he knew that it was best for Charity to leave and go make something of herself that way she could rise above just being the stripper’s daughter. It was hard for him to do it, but he would do anything for Charity that was in her best interest.
But when Charity got the call from Meredith Blackfoot to come home because she was needed, Charity came home immediately. She opened her own practice and her best friend Mandy, also Drew’s twin sister, who is a paralegal, came to work for her. Charity is helping Meredith with pro-bono legal work at the women’s shelter, CRISIS. Of course, Drew finds out when he stops by to drop off for Mandy. When Drew & Charity see each other, it’s like no time has passed and they strike up a conversation and set up a time to get together.
Charity & Drew have a couple disagreements, but nothing else will get in their way. There is some drama with the CRISIS center that involves several of the club members, Charity & Mandy and some of the clients at CRISIS. But other than that, the club doesn’t play much of a role.
While this book was well-written, it just missed the mark. It fell flat. We didn’t learn about much of anything that happened or went on during the 10 years that Charity was gone. I think that it would have worked out better to see some of those years, so that we got a sense of how sad they were instead of just being told about it. Also, there were no discussions between Drew and Charity about what happened, how they changed and grew and how they stayed the same. There was none of that; they just jumped back into the deep end. They had 2 stupid little arguments that were ridiculous and felt like forced conflict. Also, the club didn’t play any real role in this book, just some small protection work and detective work. I was really looking forward to this book, but it fell flat. I am intrigued by Mandy’s book, and hopefully there will be more to it than just 10 years of missed feelings & no real tension to the book.
Home Free is truly Laramie Briscoe’s best work, I have loved her previous novels in the Heaven Hill series, however this novel brought it to a whole different level. Each one of her characters has had redeeming qualities and factors that make them relatable. The qualities she gave Drew and Charity were so prefect for the novel, I’m not sure anyone could have done a better job. Their pain and suffering from their previous relationship was almost tangible, you felt such loss when they described how they each suffered after parting ways. And to read Drew’s anguish when he finally broke down and let Liam in, it was a scene that will be stuck in my mind for a very long time. Charity and Drew’s connection was felt all through the novel, each one displayed feelings that portrayed them as an actual real life couple working out differences. I really liked the fact that Charity was pushing herself past her limits and comfort zones to help others, and she never really turned her back on her past. She may not be waving a flag announcing where she came from but she never shunned it, she accepted it and owned the fact that she is who she is.
Home Free really did focus on Drew and Charity, there were bits and pieces of club members and outside community members that made their appearance as well. But the overall balance between the romance and suspense along with secondary characters versus Drew and Charity, was great. The novel flowed very smoothly, I honestly could have read it again and again and found something new each time. It draws the reader in, holds their interest and kept a fast pace throughout the novel; but never did I get the feeling of it being rushed. Home Free is a fantastic novel, if you’re wanting to read an author best work (thus far), I beg you go pick up a copy and read it. I cannot recommend this novel enough. Great work J
This is the eighth book in the series and they should be read in order. This book focuses on Drew and Charity. 10 years ago Charity left to go to college to become a lawyer. While neither wanted to leave the other they need that she needed to go and do this. Now she is back after a phone call from Meredith asking for help for some people at CRISIS. Drew didn’t know she was coming back and was taken completely by surprise when he saw her. Now that she is back he isn’t going to waste any time or this chance. While things won’t be the same and 10 years have passed he is going to find a way. Charity has come back to help and she too hopes to get a second chance with Drew. Neither one has been celibate in the years that have passed but they are it for each other now they just have to figure out how to make it work. The club is going to help these two women who have come to CRISIS for help however this maybe wind up being bigger than they imagined. Will things turn out okay or will everything fall apart? I think this is my favorite book so far. Second chance loves are one of my favorite type of books. Drew and Charity were so young the first time around but that doesn’t mean that is wasn’t real. You have to love someone an awful lot to let them go and live their dreams and leave you behind. Drew has always been one of my favorite characters in this series. So I was excited to read his story. You also get to read about Mandy and Dalton. Dalton is pissing me off with the way he is treating Mandy in this book. Mandy and Dalton book is next in this series and I can’t wait to read it. I can’t say enough about this series or Laramie Briscoe. I am excited to read some of her other books. I was given this book in return for an honest review.
I received an ARC of Home Free in exchange for an honest review. I don’t give spoilers on books that I review but what is the fun in doing that… I will say that I’ve been reading Ms. Briscoe’s books since she started publishing. I started off with the Heaven Hill MC book #1. I was intrigued because Ms. Briscoe is a hometown Kentucky girl pursuing her dream of being an author and thought I’d give her book a try. I’ve given her good reviews and not so great reviews but there are only so many times that I can say that her books are good. I am happy to say that Home Free is great addition to the HH series. Ms. Briscoe is talented in creating depth in her characters and continues to evolve as an author. With each book she continues to grow in her character development, her plot line development and her scene creation. I love her work because I love to see how she far she has come in the time she has been writing. Home Free is the story of Drew and Charity and for all those readers who are familiar with the Heaven Hill series, you know who these characters are and you’ve been waiting for the pay off. Laramie Briscoe has given it to us again and left us with a taste of what is to come for Mandy and Dalton in the next chapter of this series. That’s one of the things I love about Laramie’s writing, she’s always thinking forward about the characters and what’s going to happen next. Happily ever after for now but there is always more to come. I look forward to reading the story of Mandy and Dalton in the future.
In Home Free, the 8th book of the Heaven Hill MC series, we see 10 years has passed since Drew and Charity have seen one another. Until she gets back to town and Drew is dropping some equipment off at an office for his twin sister, he doesn't realize she is in town. When he finds out why, he nearly blows a gasket. Who are the people that she is there to help? In what capacity is she there? How does she win their trust so quickly? What piece of information can be verified very quickly and easily with just about a minute or two of time passing? Who has called Charity, asking for her help? When Charity comes back to town, can she and Drew pick up where they left off? Who is Dixon McCall and what happens when he shows up at the shop the Club owns? How does Charity know Dixon McCall? What does Dixon do that causes Charity to explain how she knows him? When Dixon is taken to court, what is it for? What happens? Does he walk away like he says he is going to or is he stopped? You're going to have to read and see what happens. Does Charity run, again? Does she stay? What happens with Drew's sister Mandy? How are everyone getting along? We'll find out more in Shield My Heart.
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M.Brennan.
Finally. Home Free was like coming home. I have missed the members of Heaven Hill MC. For years (okay, really for books) I have watched Drew struggle with his decision to send Charity away to UK. They had a young love, but it was still strong. It was swoon worthy. It was so strong that in the 10 years she has been gone Drew has been known as "one and done." Charity, now a practicing attorney, is called home by Meredith. Clients at the CRISIS house need her help. I would have loved to see Drew's face when he realized the attorney office that he was bringing Mandy's things to was actually Charity's office. The way Drew and Charity began their second chance I wasn't sure they would succeed. Fireworks don't always come from kisses.Even after all this time, Drew is super protective of Charity. It is a good thing, because she is going to need him and the rest of the club. The woman she has come to help just happens to be the wife of Dixon McCall, White Supremacist and criminal. Making it worse, Charity has a history with the guy one she has kept from Drew. For her own protection, Charity moves in with Drew. It did my heart good to watch them fall deeper than ever before. It was if no time had passed the way Dalton, Mandy, Drew and Charity worked together to take Dixon down. Kudos to Laramie for writing a character that was strong enough to realize her weakness and ask Drew not to let her run. She wanted to run.
Drew Walker watched his true love walk out of his life. After ten years, a long string of nameless women and few falls into a very dark places, Drew has become a damn good man. Strong, hard working, and a good looking man. I do believe Drew is a fine southern gentleman under his badass biker exterior. Drew is the best of Liam and Tyler together. That's saying something.
Charity Thomas wanted nothing more than to not be like her stripper mother. Walking away from home leaving a huge chunk of her heart behind was the hard decisions she's had to make. Ten years and a dream under her belt, Charity is summoned home, a better woman than before she left. Charity is just as brave as all the Heaven Hill women. Smart with a huge heart, she found a confidence during her time away that helped her become a fine woman.
With each book Ms. Briscoe completes, the level of emotional depth and passion continuously increases. The words become emotions the reader easily feel, making the story more life like in the process. Drew and Charity's story has once again exceeded any level of expectation that I have for Ms. Briscoe's books.
From beginning to end the reader is able to feel the heartache, sadness, loss, love, excitement, and freedom right along with Drew and Charity. It's a bumpy ride with a bit of suspense that leaves your heart pounding in more ways than one.
Drew and Charity have come a long way from the teens they were in earlier books and from the time Drew set Charity free to fly on her own and achieve more than what her life had allowed her to be at that turbulent time with her stripper mother. When trouble at CRISIS calls her back home to help with a difficult case that becomes more of a personal mission instead, she reunites with that boy now turned into an even more gorgeous man, and together she and Drew take down an insidious enemy while rekindling what they had given up. I really admire this author's ability to draw us in and make us care for her characters...the long Heaven Hill history and family sagas keep on showing how much these people care for each other and I especially appeciated how maturely Charity and Drew behaved (even when Charity was being humiliated by a club whore and Drew was forced to hear the truth of what Charity had gone through as a teen). Wonderful and romantic sequel with some exciting action. I am looking forward to Mandy and Dalton's story now (that man needed a swift kick in the butt!) and the small cliffie we were left with is the start of some more major drama for the couple. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
**** 4 **** "coming home and still being free" stars
I have read every book in this series as soon as they were released. This is not a book that you can pick up without reading the rest of the series first as the characters in this book develop over time. Drew and Charity started out with a very pure love that developed over several books. Drew let Charity go so she could pursue her dreams and be known for something other than being the daughter of a stripper. Ten years later she comes back and they pick up exactly where they left off. They both knew they were meant to be together. There was no real drama in this book involving their time apart. Overall I found it a great read that had enough suspense to keep it interesting. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because I felt that it ended a little abruptly. While there were no loose ends and it definitely was not a cliff hanger I felt that the wrap up could have been more involved. Laramie, as always, did an excellent job prepping the next book. I began to get excited for Mandy and Dalton's story at the beginning of this this book!
I am a huge fan of Laramie Briscoe and especially of the Heaven Hill MC series. I have read all of the books and loved each and every one of them. All of the characters in her books are strong ALPHA males and Strong, Independent women. It is so great to read a book without any grammer issues and spelling errors. You can always count on a great story with enough drama, passion and character development to sweep you away for a few hours. What more could you ask for. Highly recommend this author. You would not be disappointed. Home Free was another great addition to the series. Loved Drew and Charity. Drew had been devastated when Charity left town 10 years ago to try and make something of herself. Her shame of growing up the daughter of the town stripper followed her every where she went. Sadly leaving Drew behind to go to college. Charity receives a call to come home and without hesitation she packs up and goes. Drew and Char fell right back into their relationship.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, second chances, and secrets.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Meant to Be (Heaven Hill #1) Out of Darkness (Heaven Hill #2) Losing Control (Heaven Hill #3) Worth the Battle (Heaven Hill, #4) Dirty Little Secret (Heaven Hill, #5) Second Chance Love (Heaven Hill #6) Rough Patch (Heaven Hill #6.5) Beginning of Forever (Heaven Hill, #7) Back to Basics (Heaven Hill, #7.5)
This is Charity and Drew’s story. These two were in love but he wanted her to pursue her dreams it broke him, but he let her go. Now she is back, and he is out of control. Treating everyone crazy. She knows he needs to get himself under control so they can try again but is he ready? Can they build a future or is she just here for the case she came to try? The love runs deep. Danger is out to get them can they survive to even have a future?
4.5 stars When I read book 1 in this series I knew that I was hooked into the characters and their lives. Drew was introduced as a young teenager in book 1 and we have seen him grow and mature as each book was released. Home Free is a sweet story of Drew and Charity's second chance love. I love the way the author weaves the strong family connection between all of the Heaven Hill members but especially between Drew and Liam (his step-father). You can feel the love between these characters and the author does a wonderful job of showing how much Drew and Charity have matured during her absence from Heaven Hill. Drew let her go because he wanted what was best for her but Charity discovered her heart would always be in Heaven Hill. This book can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend you read the entire series to get the complete back story.
Charity Thomas is called by Meredith Blackfoot to come home to Bowling Green 10 years after she leaves. She needs her help for someone at CRISIS. Charity can't say no since Meredith has helped her in the past so she says yes and packs to head home to Kentucky from North Carolina. She always knew she'd be called to come back home at some point, so she was already licensed in Kentucky. Andrew Walker gets the shock of his life when he goes to deliver some equipment to the new law office in town for his sister, Mandy. He finds Charity, his high school sweetheart back in town. He has been having one night stands with no feelings for the last 10 years. Will he give that up to be with Charity again? Can he? Does she feel the same way for him? What exactly has happened to them in the last 10 years? Find out if they can be together after all this time and more in this awesome read!!!
Home Free is Drew and Charity's second chance at love. They were together as teens, but Charity left for college and hasn't been back since. Ten years later, she is asked by Meredith to come home to help on a case, as she is now a lawyer. She and Drew see each other and almost immediately picked up where they left off. I had been looking forward to reading Drew's story but unfortunately I was a little disappointed. Drew and Charity were such complex characters that I really wanted to see them grow, communicate, and actually discuss their past. They just reconnected right away and I had trouble with that. I just wanted more for these characters. I did like the action in this story. It was a little more prevalent than in previous books. I also loved seeing glimpses of everyone from the previous stories. Although this book didn't work for me, I do love this series.
Drew and Charity are such an awesome couple! Years ago Drew let Charity leave to fulfill her dreams of going to college. Those first years were torture and dark for him. Charity also missed Drew, but knew she had to do this for herself. Present day, Meredith calls Charity to come back to handle a case coming through CRISIS. Charity always knew she would be back, but is hoping she will be able to connect with Drew again. Danger and suspense surrounds this case. The Heaven Hill MC has to protect everyone involved and Drew is worried for Charity. Can he protect the woman he loves? Will she stay forever with him? If you've read this series, then you will need to read Drew and Charity's story! Laramie rocks another one!
ARC given in exchange for an honest review. I don't know what I am going to do when this series finishes next year. I love this group - the dynamic between them all is captivating and yet realistic. This story looks to the next generation. I love how honest the characters are. The story was bang on from beginning to end. If you are a fan of the Heaven Hill series, this one will just make you happy. If you haven't read the series, I think you could still read this one. You wouldn't get the full scope of the story, but it would still be a great read. I am counting days until we get Mandy's story! This book took me 4 hours to read. I recommend it if you enjoy: Joanna Wylde, Nina Levine or Natasha Thomas.
This has been my favourite book of the series so far, I couldn't wait to hear Drew's story. I felt like I was more invested in his character since we seen him growing up in the previous books.
Drew was a total bada$$, I knew I would love him since we have seen him so often in the other stories but he definitely won my heart from the very beginning of this book.
I wasn't sure about Charity's character in the previous books, there was something about her that rubbed me wrong at times. My opinion of her completely changed in this one, she stole my heart from the outset.
This was a great second chance love story. I loved the fact that we knew the characters so much and got to see the type of people they grew to be. I can't wait to jump straight into Mandy's story.
