Bill Lohmann has a talent for finding the best places to visit and to eat. He understands what makes a town or a lake or a view interesting and expresses it well.
Decent descriptions of drives around Virginia, with an almost travel-diary tone. This is a good book for people who are really interested in going off the beaten path in small towns around the state- not so great if you’re looking to hit major sites or compare hotels in certain areas. Pictures are not the best, but the author is genuine and seems like a nice guy.
A general set of recommendations for touring Virginia. I would have added more maps. Pretty up to date, does introduce people to Virginia attractions. Good driving tips described. I like more maps than using GPS but I love maps!
