A bit of a downer

Compared yo the previous ones, this book was a bit of a downer. More like vanilla fantasy without the game law aspects. I would rate it as 3.5 if I could. I spent most of the book working hard to dismiss the MC's decision to bring a young girl that could not fight to a war, as well as his now quite boring and predictable relationship with the same. Surely he has enough love interests already, when will it stop? The themes that attracted me to the story - exploration, growth, adventuring, building, discovery, gaming laws etc - were for the most part abscent. I still enjoyed the read, but it took some effort.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3 stars. OMG, when the MC tried to release Alice from slavery and she begged to stay with Master and he relented and then admitted his love, I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Bleh! The war itself was well written and engaging, but the emotional stuff is just not realistic. I'll keep reading, but I wish there wasn't all this crap with half a dozen juvenile slave girls hanging allover the MC all the time. Plus, they all want his baby. Whatever.
