Nikki Brewer isn't looking for love. She rushes through life at breakneck pace, which is just how she likes it, and she has no plans to slow down for anyone. So when she goes home with a jewel-encrusted bottle from Mrs. Clathermont’s creepy antique store, she doesn’t expect to find a djinni inside it, nor does she expect he’ll be so… well…
Hot.
But Sef is more than that. He’s a creature who defies Nikki’s love of all things rational and flies in the face of everything she thought she knew. And when an errant wish sends them both tumbling over a hundred years into the past, she and Sef must navigate a world of ancient magic, deadly mystery, and blossoming romance--all before the Titanic sinks.
Lana Hart has been writing ever since she scrawled the words "Once upon a time..." onto the back of a receipt when she was three. No one could read them, of course, but she insisted that was what they said. After that, it became an obsession she just couldn't shake.
She has translated her love for storytelling into films, short stories, and table-top role playing campaigns, and would one day love to write for the video game and television industries. She enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons and lives in Florida with her partner, daughter, two cats, and adorable mutt of a dog.

Nikki is a rational, headstrong and independent woman; she also gets so busy that she forgets important dates, like her grandmother’s birthday. In a rush, she enters a curious shop in search of a unique musicbox, aided by the kindly Mrs. Clathermont, as eccentric as her items are eclectic. Eyeing a beautiful, yet frivolous bejeweled bottle, she feels a pull to it. It is that innocent looking bottle that will change her life forever in ways she could never have imagined.
Have you heard the tale of Alladin’s Lamp? Here is Lana Hart’s tale of another djinni bottle, another cursed djinni and one young woman with three wishes to make. Welcome to the world of The Bejeweled Bottle where magic is a wish away and wishes must be used wisely. Sef has been trapped within his prison with few chances out since long ago in the time of Egyptian gods, royal guards and beautiful women. Together Nikki and Sef will undertake a journey back to 1912, where Sef hopes to find the answer to his freedom, but where it takes them isn’t to a quaint town or great temple, they are about to take the maiden voyage of the Titanic where one false step could alter history. How will they blend in? How will they be accepted in a day when the color of one’s skin or their gender marks them as inferior? Only through clever deceits and crack investigative finds will the evil be unveiled, but will Sef and Nikki stop him before it is too late and the Titanic sinks?
Two unlikely allies, from worlds a millennia apart, with one common goal, get back to the future intact. Is it any wonder they feel the stirrings of love?
This is not a fairytale for bedtime stories; this is the magic of Lana Hart’s words on each page! She has created a feisty woman in Nikki, one who has stressed being independent, often bristling at the treatment she receives. Sef has seen time move on, spending years in his bottle, rarely released and watching the fools humans can be when given three free wishes. He, of course is handsome, has a mysterious air about him and has learned the art of diplomacy. Now, whether it rubs off on Nikki is another matter! With a clever and original plot, each page takes us back in time, either through a Djinni’s magic or his memories. Wonderful scenes, great dialogue, some “Nikki attitude” and an atmosphere of a time long ago! From start to finish, a magnetic read, filled with the fun of fantasy and the danger of intrigue!
I received an ARC edition from Lana Hart in exchange for my honest review.
Publication Date: October 1, 2015 Genre: Paranormal Romance | Time Travel
The Bejeweled Bottle by Lana Hart, is the next book with themes and concepts from “The Curious Collectibles” series. The story starts in the village of Sanctum Harbor, home of Mrs. Clathermont’s Curious Collectables, but travels through time and space to lands and places of long ago.
I felt that this story was far different than the first two books, in that the story was very complex (the author must have done an awful lot of research), not quit as frilly & playful, and had a more serious tone. The romantic element was woven into the story with a slow build up (the reader knew it would happen), but was a backseat theme to the main plots. Cameo appearances by a few characters from books 1 & 2 help tie the overall story to the series.
I had a difficult time keeping all of the Egyptian character names, and their parts in the plot in my head, but that could just have been my issue and not the author’s delivery. I found both of the main characters, Nikki and Sefu to be like-able, and wanted them to be successful in their endeavor. I did feel that Nikki acted without thinking at times, I passed that off as a trait that just helped make her who she was.
This book could be read as a standalone, but to get the full scope of where the subplot (woven underneath each books main plot) may be going, reading the books in order would be a better idea.
I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Although I enjoyed books 1 & 2 a bit more than this book, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, so I can see how Mrs Clathermont’s Collectables plays in the subplot which is slowing unfolding. I feel there is something dark and sinister looming on the horizon.
The cover art for this book and the cover revisions to the two previous books is awesome, I would love to have prints to hang on the wall, they are colorful, and emotive.
To be honest, I have a hard time reviewing works like this. I feel as though my words couldn't possibly hold a candle to what's been written. That feeling is prevalent here, because this is a masterpiece. Lana Hart has crafted something truly magnificent with her sassy, relatable heroine, a brooding djinni with a past as immortal as he is, and a fast-paced plot that will keep you guessing right up til the end.
If you like paranormal romance with more than a mere touch of real history, and you love when it's abundantly clear that the author has done her research, then this book is definitely for you. I both recalled lessons I had once learned, and learned things I never knew. And as an unexpected bonus, I could now probably fumble my way through a game of senet!
I read this series out of order -- which I think is even more of a testament to how great they are -- but I have read the others, and would recommend them all. You're getting them for a song on Amazon. Don't wait until the world recognizes how amazing these are and they're selling for hundreds a pop with tooled leather covers and gold embossed filigree. Give them a shot now, and let the words speak for themselves.
In the Bejeweled Bottle one of the first things Nikki has to ask herself is does magic really exist? While looking for a present for her grandmother, Nikki is given a very special jeweled bottle. She finds herself drawn to it. Then when she gets it home the snake on the bottle bites her and now she has a Djinni in her home. Now she finds herself facing magic, and wishes. Will this lead Nikki to her happily ever after, or will the wishes somehow turn into something horrible and make her regret wishing for anything at all?
This book is great! I had trouble putting it down once I started it. While this is book three in the Curious Collectables series, I read it as a standalone and had no trouble with the background information. If you like paranormal stories then this should be a must read for your list. The characters are well developed and the story moves along at a nice pace. I would recommend this book to anyone to read.
I’m giving this book 4 fangs.

This has been a wonderful read. I haven't been able to put it down since I bought it and now I'm eager for the next installment in the series. I'm looking forward to Lana Hart's work.
I was swept away! Much as I enjoyed Books 1 and 2, this has to be the best so far (and I really hope there are more in the pipeline). Lana's evocative descriptions made me feel as if I was part of the story, experiencing everything with the characters. A look into history and a fascinating journey through time with two uniquely special individuals who have to deal not only with a millennia-old curse, but a powerful demon and even the gods of old.
I just didn't like it. I didn't connect with Nikki, the main character, and I thought the plot was a good premise that was executed in a way that didn't work for me. There was nothing (or not much) inherently wrong the book – the author is certainly leaps and bounds better than many in the indie publishing world – but very little of her story telling worked for me.
I wish I could say that I found some of Nikki's most unlikeable characteristics unrealistic – a young Black American woman who is only beginning to understand in her late twenties that slavery was a horror story endured by her ancestors? – but I've met people like her (though, none that expressed the sort shock that she expressed), so... Still, it didn't sit well with me that the topic only came up because said young woman was being a brat at her grandmother's birthday party. Since I'm a huge fan of my own grandma, I should have known from that moment that I wasn't going to like Nikki. (It's not that Nikki doesn't like her grandmother; she adores her, in fact. But Nikki is a self-centred brat who sort of lives in her own Nikkiland where her opinion is the only valid one.)
I received an advance copy of this book for my honest review. This is the third book in Lana Hart's The Curious Collectibles series. Overall, this is a good book. It's supernatural, suspenseful, with a little romance thrown in as well. I did have a little trouble following the historical information about Egypt. I was very surprised that there was time traveling involved with this story and it was exciting to read about titanic. It's not necessary to read the other books in this series before reading this one, but I do recommend you do that just because they are so good. Great job Lana!
🌹 A Truly Magical Experience! 🌹 A strong independent modern woman, in possession of brilliant mind and mad skills in programming. Friends who she has known since childhood, and a heartwarm family. Unfortunately neither of these she sees as much as she would wish, for since life and works keeps her busy. Thats life and about as modern as its gets. When she went looking in desperation, it sure wasnt for a man, or love, no, no! It was for a birthday present for her grandmother, and time was running short, because she had forgot. That hunt for something extra ordinary makes her go into the store called: Clathermont’s Curious Collectibles, in Sanctum Harbor. And what she found was not only something very special for her grandmother, she ended up with one of those special pieces that the old woman had in a separate room. Little does she know that each of these objects comes with something that cant be explained so easily. The piece she had gotten for her self was a majestic bejeweled bottle, gorgeous almost like something out of a fairytale like Alladin’s cave.. This sets of a totally captivating series of events all happening in the most vivid and lavishly appealing way. Its a story with all the best of modern, ancient and mystic all blended together in the most amazing storyline. Even if this is the second book, it can be read as a stand-alone, and thoroughly enjoyed as such. This story has the sort of magic touch to it that makes you want say: “I wish.....” 🌹 A sincere heartfelt thank you to the author for bringing about a little magic into everyday for a humble reader such as I.🌹
I do believe this is my favorite book in this series and I really loved the characters, Nikki and Sefu. I love mythology, so the inclusion of Egyptian mythology was very nice along with the little bit of history that this story touched on.
This is a love story, but not your typical one. It's full of action and magic and a bit of intrigue.
Another book very well done Lana! I hope to see more in this series!
And an action packed book. The characters are well thought out and interact well with excitement, treachery, terror, and some quite unusual but very interesting events which I won't talk about because you need to read the book. The only thing that I didn't like was that Nikki curses ALL THE TIME! I speed read through the end of the book because I wanted to find out what happened, but I don't know if I'll read it again to find out what I missed.
Really out there paranormal stuff, including genie, witches, gods of the Egyptian pantheon. It is well written and a good read if you like this sort of stuff.
