The Theme of the book The Old Man on The Sea is about a fisherman who hasn't caught a fish in 82 days, who goes out to catch a big marlin. It takes place in Cuba near the Gulf Stream in Florida. This book is told in 3rd person. The protagonist is Santiago , he's the old man on the sea, Monolin is his apprentice. Santiago goes out to Florida and catches a huge marlin, it takes him three days to bring it in. He thinks he has his luck back.

I think this is a sad story because he tries so hard to catch the marlin and then all the sharks eat it from the side of the boat. I thought this book had action especially with the the marlin and Santiago. I thought it was powerful because it was very descriptive with him and the marlin. If this book was a series I would keep reading it.
