This is the love journey of Esther and Sorin. If this was Facebook their relationship status would be labeled complicated. Soren is the second born son sonin a Russian crime family so yes he is the spare but he is also the muscle and he kills without prejudice. He is resigned to this fact and frankly he's OK with it. That all changes once he meets Esther. She is the best friend of his oldest brother's girlfriend. now Esther is loud proud and she don't give a f*ck. But she is still a woman and she has her needs she sees Sorin and she likes what she sees. I mean really what is there not to like he's tall and muscled. He's tattooed everywhere and attitude to match those tattoos. The two of them hook up they have a really good time but soon Sorin realizes that she can get hurt. And by hurt I mean she can get very dead. I really love the series I really wish each installment was longer but such is life. I can't wait for the next installment this story is definitely five stars. Kaye Blue Another fine job done!!! <3
3.75 stars. This was another great quick read for me! But I feel like this book was just missing a little something. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it but I feel like I'm missing something in the end. It probably is because I didn't feel as deep of a connection between Esther and Sorin as I did with Vasille and Fawn. I think because Vasille saved Fawn from the beginning they bonded right away, but it took some time for Esther and Sorin to even admit they wanted to be with each other much less fall in love. I think that might have been the only difference. But besides that, I loved it! Sorin is still a great Alpha male and I love how protective he gets over Esther. And I love how feisty Esther is! She can really put Sorin in his place! Great read!
Sorin's fall was memorable in this series. He even matured a bit from "Keep." Esther was a friend thru and thru to Fawn and you know I think that's what Sorin admired about her along with her sassiness toward him.
The story ended as it started - Esther and Sorin fighting over Maria (Vasile and Fawn's baby girl) as kids who secretly attracted to each other- too cute!!!
Looking forward to "Avenge" just as long as it's not psycho and bat-crazy Natasha doing the avenging... lol
This is book 2 in the series Esther and Sorin's story.
Esther is a very sassy lady and Sorin has a temper, so you know there is going to be sparks. I thought there was lots of chemistry between the couple and I enjoyed their interaction.
However, I do feel that the book narrated how they felt instead of letting them dialogue more with each other about their feelings for each other and where their relationship was going. That is the only thing I would have liked to have seen a lot more of.
I loved Sorin in the first book and when he and Esther met, it was insta-hate for both of them. But then again there is a thin line between love and hate. And the chemistry between Sorin and Esther was so HOT!!
So what started out as a one-time hook-up just seemed to keep going on and keep getting hotter, until they both started to see something more and feel something more. But Esther still doesn't know if she wants to be with a mobster and she's doesn't like being in the dark about stuff And when something happens to Esther, who will be the one to run away from this 'relationship'.
Esther, you're pushy, stubborn and you drive me fucking crazy. I wouldn't have it any other way. I didn't believe in love until I met you," he said
I loved this one, loved the whole hate-love storyline.
I received this book for an honest review. I had the privilege of reading book one and I have to say thought book one was good I enjoyed this book more. I loved the story of Sorin Petran and Esther Jordan.
Sorin had feelings for Esther that he did not want to admit to but on the same hand Esther was in denial of he feelings as well. They knew how to push each others buttons. One thing Sorin loved about Esther was that she spoke her mind.
Esther will be faced with what it is like to be with someone with the Romanian Mob. She will find that he faces danger everyday and has to make life decisions. Being with him will also put her life in danger as well. Sorin will have to face if he can handle having her life in danger being with him. Will it be worth it and can he make room in his life?
If you liked book one you will fall in love with this book. It is a story worth reading
In 'Keep' Sorin was the lighter of the two brothers, I suppose being the second son takes off some of the pressure and so I was looking forward to this book. Parts of it I liked but something was missing from the whole, it wasn't Sorin because I liked him the problem was with Esther, she was portrayed as a kind of larger than life figure, loud-mouthed and fearless but when you looked closer she just seemed very immature and young and something was missing. Despite this I liked the rest of the book although I'm not sure loads of sex equals romance but Sorin is hot so we'll let that pass. The back story gives us a few twists and turns and a couple of new characters plus we get a bit more Vasile and Fawn.
I received an ARC for a review. Keep was the first book I read by Kaye Blue and I enjoyed it and Fall did not disappoint. I loved the chemistry between Sorin and Esther and the fact that they both had a sense of humor.
The way Sorin struggled with his feelings for Esther and not wanting her to see him as a monster and maintaining his role in the family kept my attention and made me want more. I would have loved to see a bit more of Sorin and Vasile's dangerous sides. There is a nice twist towards the end of the book, which I really enjoyed.
Really enjoyed this book and patiently waiting for book 3 :)
Wow! What a good book. Esther and Sorin where so hot! You will need a bucket of ice to cool off! I love them the banter between these two had me laughing out loud, literally. This book was so good,I could not put it down. the brother and the best friend hated each other from the start,or did they. The sexual tension was so thick between these, you just knew in book one they would hook up and boy what a book up. They when perfect together. I am loving the men of Clan Petran.
Sorin and Esther love affair was totally unexpected but was really hot. I loved her "I won't back down attitude." And Sorin was loving but a true bad ass. Really good book as was the first can't wait to start the third one.
Awesome sexy read! I really loved Sorin sexiness; but more importantly his humor was endearing. This is the 2nd book in this series. Bring on more Romanian Hot Guys please. ;-)
I loved this book! Esther and Sorin are my new favorite couple. I loved the banter between them, their dialogue was pure comedy. This is definitely a story of a "Thin Line Between Love and Hate."
Fall picks up from Fawn and Vasile's story and tells of the rough road to love between Esther and Sorin aka the human versions of Oil and Water. In the beginning, they DEFINITELY do not mix well together. However, over time the snarky comments, seething anger and eye dagger gazes, somehow turn to attraction, lust and then love, which I was here for, all the way.
Esther is one tough cookie, who prides herself on being strong, independent and able to look after herself. However, deep down she was like a lot of us, she had insecurities, fears about being alone, worrying about her best friend (Fawn), not being confident in her looks and going through life unloved; so, she learned to build up her walls and put on false bravado at times, to keep from being hurt.
Sorin is my guy all the way, I really enjoyed his character. He is fun and funny, jovial and charismatic, but he is definitely no nonsense, when the time calls for it. He managed to bring levity and good natured humor, to many dark or grim situations. Underneath the muscles and tatted, tough exterior, he was a man wanting to be acknowledged, as something more than just Vasile's "little brother". He was in a way, looking for love and support and to just be wanted for himself and to be taken seriously.
Esther and Sorin are perfect for one another because where one is serious, the other brings some fun and humor and vice versa. Both of them, shared similar insecurities, that they learned to hide, but once they got through their disdain for one another their passion and love for one another really shined through. Did I mention that they are my favorite couple in the series, so far?
I definitely want another spin-off story about these two because their bickering and petty fights are just so entertaining. Plus, I really want to see what else is in store for these two and their future. They really are awesome characters in my opinion and make for a fun read for sure.
Enjoyed this one more than the first for quite a few reasons.
1) I'd met the characters in the previous book and had a glimpse of their backstories. Something I didn't get with Fawn and Vasile. 2) Personalities. Esther is a spitfire. She knows her own mind, she's brash and ballsy, but smart. I didn't seen her make one bad move. Other than falling in love with a known mobster, but I'm fine with that. It's a mob romance. 3) Sorin. Ohh, God, Sorin. Handsome, charming, smokin' hot sexy. Confident, arrogant, but vulnerable. Alpha without being too much of a prick. It's hard finding the right balance, but it was met here. Even more, he's honest. About his feelings or lack thereof. That is always appealing. And pretty damn unheard of for a mobster. 4) Their relationship. Anyone with eyes could see this pairing coming in the first book. Could immediately see the attraction Sorin had to a woman who wasn't intimidated by his hulking presence or impressed with his money and status. Mobsters are rich. Esther stood on her own, even when he told her not to; which only served to heighten his desire for her. Them falling in love was pretty much a foregone conclusion, but it was still worth the journey. Especially watching Esther realize she could be vulnerable and sensual with this man. A man she swore she would never want.
Not really a fan of the alternating POVs or the first person prose, but that's just a personal preference. It didn't take away from the story in any way, and in fact, added to it when dealing with their emotions for each other. This was a great little escape. I'm going to check out the next.
I actually can’t believe I expected this book to be about Natasha and Sorin’s love story, thankfully it wasn’t because no one could ever match up to Esther.
Sorin and Esther although they seemingly didn’t get along at first.
They found a sort of common ground which effectively Sorin thought would work for them, until much need heated feeling started to emerge and break through.
Esther’s personality was just so realistic and I felt drawn to her she was stubborn, hot headed and fiery, I’m almost 100% sure that Esther is black which would make my connection to her even stronger than it already was because she is just such a relatable character for many people and including myself of course.
Sorin character is so funny like I really found myself wanting to read his part because it was just so interesting to see his feeling and take on things about Esther and his relationship with his brother that of which he adores and Fawn and Maria it was an adorable sight to see, well read.
I love the representation that this author includes various character sizes which her books entails curvy women. It so nice to see.
Although sad it really did make sense for Natasha to be the one to try and cause harm to Esther seemingly so as she was in love with Sorin for years. I just wished her character could have moved on and found love somewhere else but she couldn’t do her fate was just.
100% recommend the read, absolutely brilliant book. And 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I was very very impressed with the spicy scenes in this book.
Now, I am usually a fan of enemies to lovers romances (as long as the H and h are faithful after meeting), but this book lacked the really good banter that often comes with those. I've noticed that this author seems to leave a lot of things unsaid between the characters to the point that I think there needs to be a little more dialogue happening between the Hs and hs in these stories. I didn't like Esther's character as much as Fawn's. She did come off sort of childish and indecisive at times rather than strong and independent. A lot of other reviews talked about the lack of emotional connection between the characters, but I think the real problem was that the only emotion was coming from Sorin. His monologues mentioned his feelings (other than physical) several times and he was always the one pushing for more up until the end, but we never really got to see Esther get past her denial stage to embrace her feelings. She just sort of jumped from refusing they were even together to having to be the aggressor pretty suddenly and we didn't really get to see her maturation there. She also seemed terrified of emotions and feelings for some reason and we never got any insight into her problems with openness. So, with all of that said, I still devoured this book pretty quickly, it was a good read, and I wasn't put off of the rest of the series.
How do you fall in love with a mobster? How do you get connected with a family of crime and violence? Easy, let him show you the real him and make you feel things you never really wanted to. This is Esther and Sorin. This couple is unusual, their connected was one more of lust than anything. After being around each other, they realized it not so bad to actually care for one another. I loved their chemistry right from the start, and they didn't ply around. Sorin got right to the point. Now I will say not much drama happens in this book, I feel like a scene was throw in just for a little action, but it was nothing spectacular.
Meh, nothing special. I dont know. I just didn't find much depth to this story. When you met Esther and Sorian in keep, I thought this was going to be more banter enemies to lovers type with Natasha issues thrown in. But they were getting it on by chapter 3. And he was already obsessed. I just didn't feel any connection to them. I hated Sorians' attempt of being possessive and dominant it just came off as rude, and if it was me, I would have passed him along. The drama was literally like a chapter with nothing shocking. It's a very light mafia type story. No blood gore, only vague talk of it off page. Easy read if you have a couple of hours to kill.
While I enjoyed the first book in this series better, Fall was also entertaining and I enjoyed it a lot. Ester is the fiery best friend of Fawn from the first book and she starts hooking up with Sorin, the mob boss's brother. Eventually he makes her "his girl" and has to deal with the pressure of protecting her and guilt when he cannot.
Once again, I enjoy how this series is really about mobsters. These are guys who sell guns and hire body guards. No. These are murderers, torturers, and they have family ties and clan loyalties. It's honestly exactly what I'd want from a book about mafia.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I guess this is upsetting because the way black women are portrayed. We are seen as thick stout (she even said strong 💪ankles) nothing feminine!!!! I guess as a woman of color we are always portrayed as less than human over sexed road like an animal. All those tropes are in here. Can't forget mouthy can't keep a job. Too independent. Even thought how can we be stupidly independent if we can't keep a job!!! Oh and I can't forget the author did say the ladies a as jigs when she turned around!!! But no true feelings in this book.
Sorin and Esther had a lot of sexual chemistry and you could feel it with their bickering. Seeing each other often led them to a sexual relationship and then love. I would love to know more about their family dynamics. These books are short and to the point but more of their background would be nice. The same for Esther and Fawn very little details are given about their families and back ground, where they live and other little details that gives more insight. Still enjoyed the book and plan to read all of them.
I'm so glad I didn't let my feelings about the first book keep me from this one. This one is so much better than the first. I deducted one star because Ester and Sorin wouldn't have just not spoken after everything that happened. It wasn't true to character. They never had problems communicating the way Vasile and Fawn did. Plus, I wanted Sorin to be more proactive in keeping Ester, but otherwise, this was a vast improvement.
2nd book in is series is Amazing can't wait for the rest if this series!!!
This story give more insight into Sorin and Esther from when they were first introduced in the first book. It answered questions that I had about how these two characters chemistry would finally be released once they gave it opportunities to do so.
Oooohh I knew these two had sparks the moment they met in the first book. It wasn't all annoyance every time the two squared off. I'm so glad that Sorin and Esther fell hard for each other. They are both stubborn to a fault. I'm really enjoying this series.
Who don’t want a hellish, don’t take no mess, will cut you deep, loving Romanian monster? Girls you will love this book. It is amazing from beginning to end. I love love how Esther challenged Sorin. She was just the bad loving chic he needed. A must read. Kaye Blue is the bomb.
It’s official, the first one wasn’t a fluke! This one was just as compelling, with treacherous tendencies thrown in for good measure to make you not want to put it down. So glad there are more in the series!
Esther was a definitely a firecracker that was not scared of anything and was a loyal friend. Sorin was scared to be loved due to the type of work he was into.. I am loving this series.
This was a good y The characters were enjoyable I loved How the book went back to the old characters kept them in contact that made the book even more better it was nice I enjoyed it I'll definitely read the next 1
