It almost seems like the killer is known from the beginning - shocking! It ends like it is modern day and the killer is MIA - possibly dead or on another ranch

A light, fast-paced mystery, centered around the Western horse world. The horse stuff was clearly from hands-on experience and rang true. A fun, quick read, recommended for horsey people or mystery fans who like to learn a bit about a new subculture.

Another fun Gail McCarthy, DVM, mystery had me hooked by the horsey details and galloping through the adventure to see Whodunnit. The ending read like a rather abrupt wrap-up but I enjoyed the read overall and look forward to continuing to follow Gail through the series.

I have to make a correction...one of the steers used in the roping competition is called a "Charlais"...The correct name is "Charolais".

Otherwise, so far, it's a fun book to read.
