Applies the precepts of samurai philosophy and practice to the problems of doing business and of daily living and shows how to defeat opponents by overcoming the "inner opponents"
This book helped me focus on some unfinished projects and work I'd procrastinated about for far too long. It helped me set some priorities so I could work on those tasks incrementally instead of being overwhelmed by their entirety. As a writer, the book helped me get back to work on rewriting a novel manuscript I had pretty much abandoned nearly a year ago. It helped me identify and face some internal "opponents" such as fear of failure.
The third part of this book primarily addresses business situations, but I found many ideas in the first two parts that I can apply to my life and my work as a writer. In the process, I learned a lot about the Samurai warriors and how so many of their principles can be applied to everyone's daily living.
Fight the good fight. Do you need encouragement -- whether for career or life in general? This book isn't just the same old advice that you find in thousands of online articles. There are marvelous insights. It's a great read.
Rogers outlines a number of strategies drawn from Samurai training and philosophy. I wanted to like it, but I I found the relentless focus on a competitive world always at battle -- internally and externally -- just didn't work for me.
