Wait for the Sun
Sometimes God asks us to wait...
And Gabrielle Sevier has been waiting for fourteen long years for the war within her to cease...Contracting to tend an injured man on a long trek West, the former Confederate nurse does not at first suspect Jordan Cooke's Northern sympathies. By train and by stagecoach, they journey through rugged terrain and personal conflict, battling the growing attraction they feel for each other.
For Gabrielle, scarred by memories of Union bullets and Confederate blood, her hope of marriage to her deceased sister's husband at journey's end promises a kind of healing.
For Jordan, still haunted by the tragedy of useless killing in his role as a Union army officer, life has lost all meaning.
For two wounded spirits, will the journey become a pilgrimage of peace and the discovery of God's perfect timing?

I honestly don't know what to rate this, seeing that it was a good book but I was disappointed by it. It had a good story and characters and was well written in those aspects, but the romance was so disappointing for me. While their relationship was beautiful, the problem was they could have been relatives or friends and nothing much would have been different, it didn't even seem Gabrielle was in love with Jordan since she never even really acknowledges she does which leaves me to think what is the point of this as a romance? why do so many books seem to forget they're supposed to be a romance first and other genres second. I mean Gabrielle was literally happy enough to marry another man????? like what? and she probably would have married that man if he didn't turn out to be such a loser.......... Don't even get me started on the disappointing ending lol the supposed love scene of them finally having any bit of declaration between them and it's basically between Jordan and a child lol it's not even Gabrielle in the scene and she doesn't even respond to him so her feelings are still lacking in the end of the book. I honestly just don't know about this book, I love stories like this about broken people finding each other and I love westerns, it was well wrote in those aspects and both their characters were likable, but since this is supposed to be a romance and that's primary why I'm reading, it's dissapointing. In fact i almost dislike this book because it was a good book and it annoys me to have such a issue with it. Had more been given to their feelings, especially Gabrielle's, I would have really liked it, it's something so simple so why didn't the author do it? just frustrating and because of this I can't say I liked it much and I really want to like it because it was good. I feel annoyed after finishing, there's nothing worse than being disappointed by a good book, I'd rather just read a bad book I hated and be done with it.
I read Ride With Wings by this author and it was a similar story of two damaged people falling in love in the west and I loved that one, the ending was actually satisfying so I don't see why she couldn't have done the same here, in fact it makes it even more annoying as the heroine in that book was pretending to be a boy throughout and there was still more romance and acknowledgment of feelings in it than in this one lol.
In the ending scene "Gabrielle raised her eyes to his, felt the deep, secure, abiding love between them" well I'm glad someone does because I sure didn't since Gabrielle didn't seem terribly in love with him going by her thoughts, she barely spared any romantic thoughts about him, and was pretty content to marry another man and never see Jordan again, and Jordan only came across her by mistake in the last scene? maybe he was looking for her but I don't think this was stated, she could have been married to another man for all he knew so clearly he didn't care that much either.......how good this could have been if the author had just shown Gabrielle as actually being in love with him.
