Rita Bradshaw was born on 1949 in Northampton, England, where she was educated as a good Christian. She met Clive, her husband, at the age of 16 andnow the magic is still there. They have three lovely children, Cara, Faye, and Benjamin, and have always had a menagerie of animals in the house, which at the present is confined to two endearing and very comical dogs who would make a great double act on TV! The children, friends, and pets all keep the house buzzing and the food cupboards empty but Helen wouldn't have it any other way. She still lives today in Northampton with her family. Although having enjoyed some wonderful holidays abroad she has never been tempted to live anywhere else, although she rather likes the idea of a holiday home close to the sea one day.

Being a committed Christian and fervent animal lover she finds spare time is always at a premium, but long walks in the countryside with her husband and dogs, meals out followed by the cinema or theatre, reading, swimming, and having friends over for dinner are all fitted in somehow. She also enjoys sitting in her wonderfully therapeutic, rambling old garden in the sun with a glass of red wine, (under the guise of resting while thinking of course!)

For years, she was a secretary. She began writing in 1990 as she approached that milestone of a birthday 40! She realized her two teenage ambitions (writing a novel and learning to drive) had been lost amid babies and hectic family life, so set about resurrecting them.

Her first novel was for Mills and Boon and was accepted after one rewrite in 1992 as Helen Brooks, and she passed her driving test (the former was a joy and the latter an unmitigated nightmare!) She has written 50 novels as well as several sagas as Rita Bradshaw.

Since becoming a full-time writer she has found her occupation one of pure joy and often surprised when her characters develop a mind of their own but she loves exploring what makes people tick and finds the old adage "truth is stranger than fiction" to be absolutely true. She would love to hear from any readers care of Mills & Boon.

Helen Brooks is trying to sell me a devastatingly handsome, virile, charming, worldly, successful tycoon hopelessly pursuing a grumpy, neurotic, disheveled Debbie Downer who is still reeling from her acrimonious divorce. I wasn’t buying it.

Normally I wouldn't have picked this up to read cuz of the heroine's name (1 of the cute Powerpuff gals), but I badly needed a soothing, formulaic, warm & fuzzy HP read to zap away my stress-induced migraine. Not bad @ all. The persistent, loaded hero is smitten w/ heroine @ 1st sight & keeps pursuing her. She's badly burnt by a double whammy, 1st hubby cheated on her & took her bank account to the cleaner, after piggyback-riding on her connections to further his modelling career. She lays the ground rules from the outset that she doesn't do permanent, heavy entanglement, but hero nevah gives up. She finally caves in after dumping him for a 3-month job in America. 1 of those cases where perseverance pays off w/ dividends & distance makes the heart grow fonder. No hysterical dwama, simply a mild dose of chasing & backing skittish heroine to the corner, just wot my imaginary shrink ordered.

The heroine Blossom is determined to succeed in her career and at 34 years old and after a disastrous marriage she has decided that love and relationships are not for her. She meets the hero Zak, her brother-in-law's boss, when she is looking after her sisters children while her sister is in hospital. She sees Zak as nothing but a charmer and declines his dinner invitations. He persists and she eventually agrees to go out with him. She is disturbed by the effect he has on her rigid control. He makes it clear he desires her but Blossom, still emotionally damaged by her marriage, rejects him. He manages to track her down and asks her out again, telling her he doesn't want to push her into something she is not ready for. They agree to see each other regularly and really get to know one another and as time passes Blossom's feelings for Zak grow. This frightens her as she is terrified of losing control and getting her heart broken again, and she knows she has to end it.

I liked this book, it is a very gentle and warm romance. Both characters are well written and I enjoyed the way the relationship developed between the hero and heroine. It was nice that the male character didn't have too many issues or played games. Although, this book would have been greatly improved by including the hero's point of view.

This is a well crafted and tender book... but it's not a Modern. It just isn't powerful enough, in my opinion, to fit with the Modern/Presents line, it would be better suited to the Romance line.

Heroine is 34, but seems much younger, as she takes one bad relationship as a reason to avoid all relationships with men. The hero is older, has also had some bad experiences, but he has already moved past that, and is determined on meeting the heroine to get to know her. After a short acquaintance during which the heroine stridently resists all hints of romance, he's in love. The rest of the book is basically about him putting up with a lot of ... stuff, and pursuing her relentlessly until she finally figures out that not all men are exactly the same. Neither one is very rounded.

If you're in the mood for a rich and saintly hero with somewhat stalkerish tendencies, this might hit the spot.

While a good story when considered in a vacuum, the fact that it was the exact same story as "The Billionaire's Marriage Mission" really ruined the stories for me. I mean, divorcee left destitute by two-timing ex-husband is similar enough. To have both heroines' parents die premature accidental deaths as well is just too much. The same meet cute, the same "I don't want to have sex and fall in love with you because my ex-husband ruined me on men" prevarication, it was the same story with the names changed.

His Christmas (stubborn ) Bride

I really enjoyed reading the love story of two loveable characters. Blossom , the Christmas bride, was extremely insecure and had lost all confidence in finding "forever love" because of a previous relationship. Her new love interest had to demonstrate consistent love for her to overcome her fears but the forever love and happy ending finally caught up with the couple. I was relieved that he was able to break through her terrible stubbornness to enact a new marriage and a happy ending. Yeah happy ending!! Ya gotta love 'em.

One of her best books!

When trust is lost, grief, and bitterness take over and changes a person into someone unrecognizable. Time and patience brings the heroine to trust in love again!

Great English story!

Blossom is at her twin sister's home to help out with the children because her sister is in the hospital. A knock on the door changes everything when Blossom comes face to face with her brother-in-laws boss who decides upon meeting Blossom that she is the girl for him.

Blossom had been hurt badly and she wants no part of men and their lies but Zak won't take no for an answer and comes out and tells her he'll wait until she figures out he's trustworthy.

Blossom spend a world-wind time with Zak only to get a job opportunity that makes her decide to break Zak's heart and her own in the process.

I like that this book was basically about learning to trust again especially when the real thing is standing in front of you.

A favorite.

The female character's over analysis of everything about Zac is most irritating. It's also a bit far fetched as I don't see any man in the world putting up with so much icy attitude. She judges him from the get go and it's peppered with cold undertones. Unnecessary and worthy of an eye roll. But I'm a sucker for a sweet love story

This book was a trial to get through. The poor heroine was very damaged by her past but she didn’t develop all she did was push the perfect no flaws hero away. And that is the entire book until the very end. Boring.

I couldn't keep reading. This is a personal thing but I can't stand romance novels with only the heroines perspective. But it evened funny and had a great beginning. Definitely worth checking out.
