Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.

Will Stevens is a paramedic, and while he enjoys his job, he has been feeling a little lonely after witnessing a slew of relationships around him!

What he did not expect was an attraction to his boss; a boss who he believes is not exactly the epitome of a warm woman or even his type.

But circumstances force him to see beyond the exterior that Carmen shows to the world; and he can’t help but fall for the woman inside.

But theirs is a forbidden relationship; and it is their journey to understand that love is the basic foundation of their lives, is worth reading!

IT'S OVER!!!

I have been dreading this book since, well since the beginning of the series. No one ever wants to see one of their fave series' come to an end and the further along in the book I was getting the more my heart was sad.

By the end, I was sobbing like a baby! Lacey wrapped up the series perfectly. I know we have big thing to expect from Lacey in future releases.

I have read all of the novels in the Rivers Edge Series and have loved every single one of them. Each couple has their unique story but they are all surrounded by love, passion and family. I am so excited that Will has gotten his story, he is the last Stevens sibling to find love so it's bittersweet. It means it the last full-length novel in the series.

Will loves few things in life. His family and his job as a Paramedic. He has known since he could remember that he always wanted to help people with their bumps and bruises. He has been working at Rivers Edge Health Center since he was 21 and has loved it from the start but eight months ago a new boss was put in charge and it hasn't been the same since. She is a bitch in heels. A no-nonsense personality and you won't see a smile on her face. Will doesn't understand her attitude but what he does know is that she is fucking hot...

Carmen moved to Rivers Edge for a fresh start for herself and her son. She enjoys her job at the Health Center, she might not have made any friends but she gets the job done. She keeps her personal life and professional life separate. She knows what people say behind her back and she doesn't care. But there is one man that she falters around. William Stevens. His uniform fits just right and his boyish looks just make her nervous.

Will and Carmen are forced to work together one day and Will sees Carmen in a whole new light. He obliviously knows that she is hot but he had no idea that she can actually smile, laugh and bring out things in him that are deep. He wants to know more about this woman. He not only wants to but needs to. And Carmen feels the same way. Sparks fly when they are around each other. But there is one major obstacle. They can lose their jobs. Is the attraction and pull to each other enough to take the risk?

Carmen doesn't just have to think about herself. She has a son to take care of and doesn't want him to get too close to Will if there isn't a future. When Carmen sees Will with her son, she falls even harder.

Has Will met his match? Will Carmen give love another chance after being married once before? Can they have a future? What will they do if they get caught?

I loved this story! Will is a closet dominating man behind his glasses. He is also the sweetest, understanding and loving man. He wants Carmen to hand over her control in the bedroom but she can keep the control at work. He loves how strong she is. He also enjoys her son, Zach, he is Will's little buddy.

You will also catch up with the rest of the couples. I just love this family so much!

Overall...this book is sexy, sweet and emotional. And I am sad that the series is ending. There is one more novella that will be included in a Xmas Anthology. Maybe one day, there could be some follow-ups :-)

Quotes:

Raging, undeniable sexual attraction sucking the oxygen out of the vehicle. Welcome to my own brand of hell.

He’s a closet bad boy. That’s the only way to describe Will. Part dirty talker and part dominant, but in the best sort of way. He’s sweet and gentle, shy and quiet, yet behind closed doors, he’s a bossy, dominating animal. A man who takes exactly what he wants. And right now, he’s a man who has his sights set on me.

It’s not a race to the finish line. No. This time, it’s about cherishing the journey.

5 Stars!

I love this series! It has sweet romances that are full of steam and twists along the way. Each book follows a different couple so it can be read as a standalone. I definitely recommend reading in order for maximum enjoyment because characters appear in each book from previous books so slight spoilers may happen if you haven't read. And I promise, one you start... you won't be able to stop.

This book was crazy good. It may even be my favorite of the series. It was sweet, sexy, steamy, fun, and had a heartwarming romance that will make you smile. This book grabbed me from the beginning and I devoured it at one time. This is one of my favorite series out there and I promise it is worth the time to read. This was a fast book that is perfect to read on a lazy afternoon.

This is Carmen and Will's story. And the last to fall is the sweet and responsible paramedic Will. Will hasn't found that one ye but he has watched his friends and siblings fall in love.. hard. Now, he is facing the situation. He attracted to his boss, the woman who is too uptight and rigid but something about her pulls him to her and he can't stop it. Now he just needs her to take a chance on him.

Enter Carmen. She is Will's boss. She knows she isn't liked around her workplace but that is ok with her. She keeps her frigid attitude in place and works means work. She is also a single mom. When she starts to spend time with Will, she can't help but slowly fall for him. Sure it may be against the rules but the temptation is too sweet o t pass. Can they find a happy ending despite the obstacles?

I highly recommend this book.

Boss Me is the final book in the Rivers Edge series and I knew going into it that I would love/hate this book and I was right. I LOVED everything about this book and HATED that it was the last book and that we are saying goodbye to the Rivers Edge family.

Will Stevens in the middle child. He is the healer of the family and this carries through to his professional life with the Rivers Edge ambulance crew. He wants what his siblings have but doesn't see it in the horizon any time soon.

"Cruella. AKA Carmen Brady. AKA my bitch from hell boss."

Carmen Brady is new to Rivers Edge. She moved here with her son after a divorce. She is the new hospital administrator at the Rivers Edge Health Center. She knows how she wants things done and she is not afraid to tell people. She's not known for being soft and lovey.

Carmen and Will have an undeniable attraction to one another but there is the tiny fact that she is his boss that makes things just a little difficult. Add in a 12 year old that has no filter (honestly what 12 year old boy HAS a filter?), a meddling mom and sister (with nothing but the best intentions) and a sexual tension that could spark a fire in the rain forest and you have the makings of an AMAZING novel!

The short story at the end is a great tie up for the series and definitely had me in tears. I couldn't have hoped for a better ending to this series!! Can't wait to see what's next from the amazing Lacey Black!

Will and Carmen's story might be the last of the full length novels in the Rivers Edge series, but she saved the best for last. I love this series and am totally invested in these characters. There's a bonus chapter told from the mother's POV and it's nice to see how the characters have progressed through the years. It's sad to see a great series end but Ms. Black has more great stories up her sleeve and I can't wait.

Wonderful ending!

This series has consumed me! I have loved every single word written. Will and Carmen are a lovely couple and who knew geeky Will would be such a dirty boy (fans self)!!
I especially love that extra suprise at the end. I truly hope that Lacey black will one day come back to these characters and give us more of them!

I’m not sure which sibling is my fave. Being a step mom I love that Will and his family took in Zack as their own. I felt the very same way when I first met my step daughter and I loved her before her father and I even got together. Wonderful series and I look forward to more great books.

FIVE 'PERFECT ENDING TO AN AMAZING SERIES' STARS!

Lacey Black is a favorite author of mine, and her amazing Rivers Edge series is what I think of when I think of small town romances. This series, these characters, their love stories very quickly became the benchmark that I hold all other small town romances to. I was so torn reading this book between devouring it like I wanted to and forcing myself to slow down so it wouldn't end.

"From his tall, lean body to his golden hair, this man oozes sex in the most powerful way."

Will Stevens, the smack-in-the middle-of-five-children son in the Stevens clan, is a paramedic and often the more level-headed one amongst his siblings. Calm, cool and collected, he's quietly handsome with his wire-rimmed glasses, and he's loyal, dependable and loving. But underneath, and behind closed doors, Will is, well, more.

"Like a storm cloud on the horizon, you never know what kind of damage she brings with her and will leave in her wake."

Carmen Brady, aka Cruella, is Will's boss at the hospital. Known for her cold, uber-professional and demanding demeanor, she is not there to make friends, she's there to do her job and do it well. She knows what her employees say about her behind her back, but she doesn't care. She's got a job to do. Secretly, though, her heart races and her insides quiver at the mere thought of her employee, Will Stevens. But that is all she can have - her private thoughts - because there is no way this single mom will ever jeopardize her job and go there with one of her employees.

"Oh hell, I want Will underneath me!"

Forced to work together within the close confines of an ambulance one day, the sexual tension coursing between them is so thick, it can be cut it with a knife. They studiously ignore it and go about their shift. A second shift together does nothing to quell the simmering sexual attraction buzzing between them. A favor turns into an invitation to come in for dinner. They barely make it inside the door before Carmen is slammed up against it, and she readily, happily and knowingly gives in to Will.

"I'm drawn to you in a way I've never experienced before in my life. ... Are you willing to risk it all to explore whatever it is that I know we both feel?"

That's the million dollar question that Will poses to Carmen. She says yes, and so begins their very hush-hush, secret relationship. He begins spending a lot of time with Carmen and her son, Zach, all of them growing closer. Will and Carmen just fit together so well, and he brought out her softer side. Carmen's son drinks up the friendship and attention that Will gives him, too. Everything is perfect, well except for that pesky little "no fraternization" clause...

"He is my one true love...This is it. He's the one."

Lacey Black has done a beautiful job capping off a much beloved series. Fans have been waiting patiently for Will's story since we met him in Trust Me, and he did not disappoint. Lacey has become the epitome of a small town romance superstar for me. Her writing is fantastic, and she just totally nails that small town, everybody knows everybody's business feel. The incredibly talented Ms. Black effortlessly weaves her stories full of characters so real and endearing and love stories that leave you smiling and swooning; one cannot help but get lost in this town, in these characters, in their happily ever afters. She's a no-fail, never-disappoints, no question auto buy author for me. Well done on this amazing finale, Lacey! I can't wait for what you'll give us next!

Will Stevens is the last of 5 children to settle down. He's not looking to do this, but then Carmen shows up as his new boss. She is better known as "Cruella"... There is tension between Will and Carmen, and they are forbidden to date because they work together. But love is in the air, .. do they chance love and sneak around or do they walk away from one another for their career?

Another solid addition to the Rivers Edge series. I love how Lacey develops the characters, she makes them come alive. I feel like I have been a member of the Stevens family. I'm sad this series is finished.

I want to double the five star rating!!! I am left a blubbering mess after knowing that I have finished a journey with a remarkable family. I started with book one, and five books later I am still in love with this family. Will finally gets his turn. Will has always been the sweet one of the bunch, but man who knew what an alpha he would turn out to be with Carmen. I loved that Lacey included a refresher course on Will's siblings and how they each found love. Sometimes after having months between books we tend to forget storylines. This refresher made it easier to connect the dots. Will and Carmen are about to embark on a no no romance. Carmen is Will's boss. Oops!! I felt everything as I read this book. I felt as if I were inside the room where Will and Carmen were. Let me tell you, sweet Will is sex on a stick. He is the total package, who would do anything for his woman. Even if that anything is losing his job. I love how he takes control of the situation. I am a huge Will fan, but he made me swoon with his and Zach's shopping trip. The angst is low key. The family atmosphere is off the charts. The ending was breathtaking as we get a short story from Elizabeth's (Mom's) point of view. I cried happy tears throughout the entire short story. I can't believe the journey is over with this family. This is a series that I will keep on my Kindle so that I can reread it anytime I choose. This book has dual point of view. No cliffhanger, but you are left with a longing of wanting more from this family. This book is a part of a series. Yes, you could read it without having read the others, but I'm going to suggest if you want to really get to know Will that you read the other books first.

I’ve been a huge fan of Lacey’s since I first read Trust Me over a year ago. I have read, and re-read the Rivers Edge series a few times. I almost feel like an adopted extension of the Stevens family. This ending of the series is bittersweet. On one side, I don’t want to lose my adopted family. On the other, I wanted Will’s HEA.

Oh Will. Shy Will. Hot in a Clark Kent kind of way with his glasses and quiet disposition, Will. You most certainly did not disappoint. To sum it up, Will’s got a new boss. A bitch of a boss, but a hot boss nonetheless. He’s attracted to her, and she is to him. But there’s certainly more beyond that crusty exterior with Carmen.

Nothing could top the anticipation of Will’s story, not since that first scene in the pumpkin patch with Avery and Bean. The fact that Will kept the secret of Avery and Maddox’s relationship and still managed to advise his sister it was all going to blow up, made him that much more intriguing. The anticipation grew further which each appearance in the subsequent books, and especially with the release of Promise Me, where we found out that there was some past relationship with Holly.

What I didn’t expect was ‘Take charge’ Will, and I loved it! I think I may need to get a new bumper sticker that says “I’d bend to Will’s will”

Bravo Lacey! As sad as I am to see the end of the Stevens family (or is it?), I am looking forward to your new projects and to further witness you grow as a writer and superb storyteller.
That epilogue. Sigh. I take that back. Those epilogues. Kleenex had a spike in their facial tissue sales on October 15th.

Sad to see this series come to an end. You didn't get a lot about Will in the other books. You really don't find out much about him. He is quiet, doesn't date very often, close to his sister Avery, but that's about it. We don't get insight into him.
Carmen was married to someone who loved their job more than her. Her and her son move to town and now she is Wills's boss. She comes across as a cold, uncaring person and the staff calls her "Cruella".
Will is attracted to her but knows it could jeopardize both of their jobs if they get involved.
I didn't understand if Carmen was so standoffish with everyone and then when her and Will hooked up why she gave in so easily. It would have been more realistic if she would have fought her attraction to him but she gave in the first chance she had.
I really enjoyed the extended ending with Elizabeth's POV. Getting to see where everyone was at 5 years from the ending was great.

I finished this book in 1 day and took a week to write this review because I'm just not ready to say goodbye to the Rivers Edge series!

Both Carmen and Will are dedicated to their jobs, but their job is the major obstacle keeping them apart---Carmen's the boss and they both signed a contract with a non-fraternization policy.
"Several hours of work. One small ambulance. Two people who are practically ignoring each other. Raging, undeniable sexual attraction sucking the oxygen out of the vehicle. Welcome to my own brand of hell." -Will Stevens

I had a crush on Will Stevens with glimpses of him in the previous books in this series, but I fell in love with him over and over again throughout this book! Their relationship develops as a slow burn and Will definitely fills the role as the hot romantic hero. His exchanges with Carmen's son Zach are what truly clenched my adoration for him as my latest book boyfriend.

This book had angst, romance, passion, warmth, and humor. The short story at the end of the book with Elizabeth Stevens' POV was a sweet and lovely wrap-up to this wonderful series. This book, like all the others, can be read as a stand-alone, but do yourself a favor and read all of them, and fall in love with the characters in Rivers Edge!

He loves his job, he always saw himself helping others. Lately though his life is getting pushed to the limit. The new boss is stretching his work team to breaking point!

On a chance meeting, he sees another side to her bossy, overbearing self. He sees a scared, hard working, passionate woman.

With her secret out, he finds himself more drawn to her the more he gets to know her. Will she finally let her defences down enough for him to prove himself?

What happens when work life & love life collide?

I am extremely sad to know this is the last book in this series. I have fallen in love totally with this family and not to sound to greedy all the brothers too!!

This is another great read, and again covers the touchy subject of meeting someone who has a child with someone else.

I love the twists in this read and the characters backgrounds which has shaped them into the people they are today.

The strong sense of family, loyalty and work ethic is paramount through out this series.

There is also a bonus read at the end, based from the mothers point of view. I actually shed a tear reading this final book.

FAB series, FAB writer

I need to search out the next series from this writer

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well I read it in one sitting. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, and heartbreak.

If you have not I would recommend reading the below books first:
Trust Me (Rivers Edge, #1)
Fight Me (Rivers Edge, #2)
Expect Me (Rivers Edge, #3)
Promise Me: A Novella
Protect Me (Rivers Edge #4)

This is Carmen and Will’s story. Carmen is Will’s boss. They are both attracted to each other but know it’s against the rules to get involved. When they have to work together they get to know each other. The time they spend together brings them closer. When Carmen gets sick Will steps up to take care of her. Now they are in a secret relationship. They both know what will happen if they are caught. But is it worth it? When they are caught will it ruin the relationship? What are the consequences of the secret relationship? Can Will and Carmen finally have a relationship out in the open? What other secrets is Carmen keeping? In the end will they choose to be together or apart?

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book, this series and this author.

I have to start this off by saying I can not believe this series is over, from the first page of the very first book I was hooked. I knew this would be a series I would not forget and would also recommend to other readers. This was the perfect way to end the series, Will and Carmen have an amazing story.
I was really interested to see how Will's character played out because he seemed quiet and reserved compared to the others in the series but I was quickly surprised by Will! He turns out to be a dirty talking, alpha male, but knows exactly what he wants and doesn't care what risks will be made to get it.
Carmen turned out better than I expected, she is strong willed and feisty.
Captivating, sexy and incredibly well written, Lacey has done it again!
Their story is one of my favourites in the series. There is the sense of secrecy because they have to sneak around, on more the one front! I found that kept things interesting!
If you haven't read this series, you should! I can't wait to see what this author has in store next, 5 novels and novella later and I am hooked on this writing!

To be honest, I'm kind of emotional finishing this book.

I've fallen hard for this series and I am kind of devastated that it is over. Yes, there is still a short novella left, but that's not enough for me. I want to read more from these characters! I would love another book told from all the characters in this family's perspectives! I just really love these characters.

Will has been one of my favorites since I started this series. So, I knew I would love to read his story. Honestly, Carmen wasn't one of my favorite characters in the series, but I could see the love Will had for her, so I enjoyed her. It was almost like she didn't open herself up to the reader and we weren't let in. BUT the real heart of this book, was a 12 year old boy named Zach. You can't help but fall for him!

I think I say this at the end of every review for this series, but again, if you have not picked up this series, please do!! It's chalked full of feel good emotions!

Thank you Lacey. And if you ever want to write me another book with this family, I would love you forever!

(Carmen and Will):
Last man standing. That's the way it feels Will Stevens looks at the happiness and fulfillment his siblings have found. Will isn't necessarily looking for "happily ever after" but...what if? The one thing that helps him get through his loneliness of bachelorhood is his job. As a paramedic with Rivers Edge Health Center, Will is dedicated to saving lives. But one person has the potential to jeopardize everything he has worked for: his boss.
Carmen Brady is a woman in a man's world. Determined to be taken as a serious professional, Carmen is hard and ruthless on the job; not interested in being anyone's friend. There's no room for personal relationships in the workplace, and Carmen is unwavering in her pursuit to run a tight ship in the Emergency Department at Rivers Edge Health Center. Yet, as much as she tries, Carmen can't seem to stop thinking about one man she can't have: her employee.
What happens when the line between work and personal is crossed? Can Will and Carmen keep the two worlds separated? Everything comes down to a single choice: love or career?

Holy hotness... It's Will's turn

Will has been the quiet, peace keeper through the series, but when his heart finds what he wants stand back ...he is a Stevens after all. Guaranteed to love you unconditionally and to worship every inch of your body along the way. That is if he can get past the fact the woman his is boss.

Lacey had the ability to make you fall in love with River's Edge. I have come to the conclusion that the only solution is that one day Travis could build me a house and during a walk through a fire breaks out causing Nate to come to the rescue. Jake and Maddox arrive to investigate and Will will make sure that I don't have smoke inhalation. Jase can be there to play me something to soothe the nerves.

Completely and utterly fell in love with the Stevens from day one. How could you not and I am sad to be saying Good bye. I have cried, laughed and enjoyed every second of the Stevens family. Avery the smart, beautiful only daughter. Let's not forget about the Stevens men and Maddox /Jace I fell in love multiple times what can't these men do in bed. The fought hard but loved Harder. We can't end this without mentioning Elizabeth Stevens the heart and soul of this story.

Thank YOU Lacey for a wonderful love story.

It's bittersweet to see it end... I absolutely loved Will and Carmen in this story. The dominate side of Will comes out and it is HOT!! Carmen fights giving up control but eventually does and sparks fly. It's totally sweet how Will includes Carmen's son in things he does and plays a father figure. I'm so sad to see the story end but loved catching up with all the other characters in the end as well...

OMG!!

This series was such a inspiring story filled with some of the best writing I have read. Lacey captures your attention from the first chapter of the first book to the last book. I love how every book follows a different couple but you still get to catch up with the characters from previous books. I loved the emotional rollercoaster Lacey took us on in the series. I would recommend these books to all my friends.
