Ali Parker is a full-time contemporary and new adult romance writer with more than a hundred and twenty books behind her. She loves coffee, watching a great movie, and hanging out with her hubs. By hanging out, she means making out. The man is hot. Hello. She’s a creative at heart and loves coming up with more ideas than any one person should be allowed to access. She lives in Tennessee with her hubs, teenage son, two grown daughters, and two love-of-her-life grandbabies! Telling a good story that revives hope, reminds us of love, and gives a vacation from life is all she’s up to.
This was definitely insta-love for both the H and h. Not sure what exactly drew these two together but it was sweet how they accepted each other, faults and all and were 100% about be together. There was potential to be a great read but there never is any in depth character development between Ian and Chloe.
She constantly has crying jags and an erratic temper and this is never really explored, other than she feels she has to put on a front and not be vulnerable for fear of being hurt/rejected and Ian mentions his shady past, his feelings of failure and need for atonement but its never delved into. It was like a lot was thrown in for affect but than forgotten once they got together.
The ending felt very anti-climatic.
I stayed interested all the way through and was invested enough with the MCs to see their HFN ending. The writing was good but more exploration into the inner workings of Ian and Chloe would have made their ending more solid for me.
This is super hot, hot, hot.. I can't think of any more to say, seeing that this is from Ali Parker, one of my favorite authors who could put Fifty Shades to shame. A taboo relationship between the bodyguard (Ian) and the senator's daughter, Chloe Moore.
Theirs was like "You and Me Against the World" kind of thing, only steamier and sexier. Will they ever emerge victorious in the end, when Chloe's life was at stake? Hmm, you have to read this to find out. Prepare ice cold water or drinks as a precaution, you might not be able to take the heat while reading this. Whew!
I can not express how much I HATE when a book gets cut up into little cliffhanger novellas so they can charge $3 per 1/3 of 1 full book. This one was free, the other 2 are $3 a piece so I wash my hands of paying $6 for barely over half a book. Pass
Short and Sweet with a great story line and good character development. A major Cliffhanger, which will keep me reading plus I really want to know more of the Senator's background and more about Chloe and her past. Fast paced, easy read. Enjoyable afternoon read
This was a brilliant book to start off this series.
We meet 21 year old Chloe Moore has everything she wants in her young life. She is popular, has status and hasn't to worry about money unlike most people who are the same age. Her dad is the Governor of California and decided the time has come for him to run for presidency.
Senator Moore doesn't show love and emotions very easily but is very protective over his little girl Chloe as her mum died when Chloe was only young. Due to the nature of his job Senator Moore received death threats. So to protect his daughter Senator Moore has no choice but to hire a bodyguard for his daughter and informs the bodyguard that he must never leave her side whilst she is school.
Step forward Ian Matthenson he has worked to get himself straight himself up from the crappie start he got in life. Ian comes from the wrong side of the tracks and would spend more time in jail than being on the outside world. Ian has had a troubled past that include living in foster care and a ex girlfriend dying in his arms. But after his last stint in jail he's finally cleaned up his act and proven himself to the right people. When his older brother gets him a job he can't refuse - he will be protecting the 21 year old daughter of a senator Moore, this a man he looks up to. Ian gets the job when somebody tries to shoot Senator Moore and Ian saves the senator.
Chloe is not impressed with her dad's decision as she felt smothered before this and now she starts to feel suffocated. Chloe starts to act like a spoilt brat as she tries everything she can to ruin this chance for Ian, the attraction between Ian and Chloe is immediate but this doesn't stop Chloe as she decides to push Ian to the edge, physically and mentally.
This is a great read about Chloe and Ian finding themselves. It's only when her life is in danger that he realizes that perhaps its not just his pay check that causes him to protect Chloe. Will Ian be able to resist the forbidden fruit.
It is a story about two people who look very different from the outside but inside bother struggle with finding someone to love them. Chloe comes from the world of politics and her dad is more focused on his career than his daughter so she hasn't had much attention since her mom died. Ian grew up in foster care with his brother and is searching to get out of the criminal life that seems to follow him. The opportunity to work for Chloe's father is a chance. They both feel the chemistry and try to resist but not too hard.
It is a fast-paced story with the right mix of romance and action and suspense to keep your attention. I enjoyed the characters and loved seeing them find that piece that was missing from their life.
I received this for my honest review. This is a great romance, well written with brilliant characters that slowly builds up around the plot that is believable. Chloe is the senator's daughter still in school but at twenty one he still needs her to be his little girl on public occasions but when the threats start he has to employ a body guard to be with her 24/7. She's not happy to be shadowed but when she meets Ian her worries are more about her feelings towards him. This is a great start to the new series, great read and definitely recommend it.
I really enjoyed Forgotten Bodyguard. This is the story about Ian and Chloe. Chloe is a senator's daughter who is running for President. Ian is hired to be her bodyguard. Along the way, Chloe gets kidnapped and Ian goes to rescue her. I loved the ending.
I wanted to read this book in February but never got around to reading it. Finally, in April I have read the book. Here are my thoughts about it:
This was an alright read. I thought the plot was good, but there were parts where I was bored. Also, I did enjoy the characters, but I thought their development needed work. I want to read more stories by Ali Parker, I think she has a lot of potential, but this story was just a bit predictable and boring at time. Can’t wait to read more of her books. Overall, an okay read.
Forgotten Bodyguard was my first book by Ali Parker and being a relatively short book I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. It had a solid plot and gives a fresh perspective of the common plot of bad boy with a history falling for the slightly troubled lonely good girl of a governor.
Although the pace of the book moves quickly and the characters have instant chemistry and fall for each other fairly quickly, the author does then almost take it back a step and allows you to see a development to the relationship between Ian and Chloe. Personally I would have liked to have seen the development of the relationship played out over a longer period, or at least given a little more depth before they got together as they had barely had any interaction before suddenly they were falling into bed together. Like I say, it’s not bad and I did enjoy the book, it would just be personal preference. However, the dual points of views worked really well to develop the characters,
If you are looking for a shortish, yet action packed, romance about two people who are forced together but soon find themselves unable to resist the attraction and want a story with a HEA, definitely give this book a try!
It was pretty much love at first sight. Even though Ian tried so hard to fight giving in to the passion. Not because he didn't want to, but because his job was protecting Chloe not sleeping with her.
Chloe's dad is running for president and after her mom died he was never there for her. She feels empty and unloved and when her dad hires Ian to protect her is not happy. That is until she meets him.
Ian is a bad boy with a long rap sheet, but after Ian saves Senator Moore's life at a speaking event he is hired to protect to protect the Senator's only child. Ian isn't real happy about the type of job he's been hired to do, but the money is too amazing to turn down. Even though Ian is in love with Chloe, he is faced with a choice, true love or money? Which will he choose?
Chloe and Ian have that bolt of lighting instant attraction. Throughout the story, we are taken on a journey of discovery into both of their lives and we find out what has made them who they are. Both have struggled in their lives and they prove that opposites really do attract!
This is a great start to the Forbidden Fruit series. Ali Parker always pleases and this book is so hot! Taboo romances are so much fun to read also.
Chloe meets Ian at a club and tries to take him home. Ian is not going to play that game with her, since he is her bodyguard and he takes his job seriously. Chloe feels she does not need protection, that her dad does.
Ian and Chloe fight what they feel for one another. It was instant attraction and they get along great. It's hard when you have to stay professional around someone you hunger for.
Chloe tries to ditch Ian, since she is sure she is not what the nut jobs are after. Ian knows he has to set ground rules. How do you control a woman who wants nothing to do with you?
This book was full of surprises and heat! I absolutely loved the characters and the way they were with one another. This is a story that I am keeping on the shelf to read again!
***This ARC was given in exchange for an honest review only.
I loved reading this book. I had not read any of Ali Parker's books before this one, but was given the opportunity to read it for free in return for an honest review. I am very thankful for this chance, because I have found another author now that I want to read more from. In this book, we have Chloe, a rich, wealthy daughter of a senator that her father hires a body guard for to protect her. Then there is Ian, the body guard, a man that grew up in foster homes and on the street with a very lengthy rap sheet. Is Chloe really the rich bitch that she shows everyone? Is Ian ready to risk getting his heart broken again? The sexual chemistry between the two is very high on the heatometer, but let's not forget that Chloe has a scary ex, someone tried to shoot her father, and Ian signed a contract that he would not seduce, flirt, etc with Chloe. Very good book, Ali!
Damn Ali Parker is a Machine!!!!! Her books just keeps getting better and better. Every time I think this one can't get any better than the last then she goes and proves me wrong!!!! I am a HUGE fan of Ali Parker's work and this book just proves why yet again. I loved the Dual POV'S of both Chloe and Ian seeing how they both felt. Its a heartfelt romance of two people falling in love in a taboo situation but they are both looking for love after they went through horrific pasts. Ian is your bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and Chloe is the rich girl and Senators daughter, then they meet when Ian become her Bodyguard and its not easy in the beginning!!! I loved every damn page in this book. Great job Ali!!!!!!!
I received a copy of this from Hurricane Readers Book reviews in exchange for a fair and honest review.. Holy Bat shite Batman!! Ali Parker you are something else, I thought I loved your other series but this one is taking the cake!! I so fell for Ian, everything I have ever loved in a man (including the name, my hubby's name)!! Smoking hot sex scenes with some angst and bit of drama, I totally loved this story. I read it in a sitting, devouring every word, hoping that it would not end at the next chapter... I would have been more than happy to have paid for this story.. Bring on the next in the series!! Do yourself a favour and READ THIS AUTHOR!!
This was a disappointment compared to what I've read of Ali Parker in the past. Chloe was bratty and always angry for no reason. I don't see why she made having a body guard into such a big deal. She always came back to the argument that she was losing her freedom, but if anyone was losing their freedom it was Ian since he had to be with her 24/7. She could literally do whatever she wanted, and his job was just to follow her and make sure she was safe. Chloe ruined this book for me, because her piss poor attitude made it impossible to enjoy. I didn't really mind Ian too much, which is the only thing keeping this from being a one star rating.
This book was recommended to me from good reads and I read some of the reviews and thought yes this would be a book I might like to read... I am a sucker for tattooed, hunky, bad boys, this story Ali was great, very well written hot sexy romantic sex scenes, I do have to admit that when I first started to read this book and saw it was a broken rich girl and a tattooed bad boy I thought this was going to be a long and drawn out book. But I was wrong and was actually alittle disappointed when I hit the last page. Ha ha... But I still loved it and am going to look and your other books.
This was instalove at its finest. If only they hadn't called it love so early on I might have given it 3 stars, but after a week when they only said about 5 words to each other before declaring their love... I don't buy it. They both had troubled pasts but everything was so rushed that everything changed during one chapter. I liked the blurb and the premises were good, but everything went too fast for me.
This was a great book by Ali Parker. I love reading romance books that have twist and turns so you never know exactly what is going to happen next. I can't wait to see what comes next from Ali Parker.
I loved this story. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. A romance that is forbidden. The characters are well written and you can't help but loved them.
This book was all over the place. I never could really understand Chole. The author threw a lot of conflicting messages about her character out there. And the relationship with Ian made no sense. There was no build up and no real understanding of why they loved each other.
If you can overlook her spoilt bitch act, and his wussy pussy-ness, then this isn't a bad read. My first ever tattooed tough guy, an ex-criminal who 'makes love'.... some humerus one liners and my own vision of Ian kept me going.
I'm not sure why the bodyguard in this book is "forgotten," but maybe it's explained in one of the later installments.
This book has multiple issues -- inconsistent characters, odd plot, and some weird English usage mistakes. All of these combine to make me suspect that this book may not be the work of a single author or that parts of it were not composed by a human (or were translated via computer and not copyedited).
Characters in this book talk about "lip singing," declare themselves to be "ass-grown men," and make observations about "a pair of red heels that looked like they should have a tramp stamp on the bottom of them." A woman wears a shirt that exposes her "mid-drift." The writing is consistently odd like this.
The story involves the daughter of the "most loved senator in Cali history." He's running for president and survives an assassination attempt and then realizes his daughter might also need some security. So he hires an inexperienced hospital security guard who does freelance crowd security on the side to protect his daughter. No rotations with other guards, no security analysis, just a guy going to live with her. A more realistic security situation would, of course, not only threaten their ability to walk around half undressed all the time and flirt, it would also mean it would be harder for a single person to kidnap Chloe later in the book.
Ian isn't just an inexperienced security guard, he also has a deep loathing for women ("The bitches beneath me were whores at best. . ."). When he contemplates taking the job, his deciding factor is "It's the easiest job I'll ever have Watching a spoiled brat slut herself out on Monday nights and lay around the beach the rest of the week." I've read a couple of books by Parker and her male MCs are remarkably misogynistic. Ian judges how Chloe dresses. Sometimes she passes the test: "Not too many girls could pull off a tank top and not look slutty." Sometimes she doesn't: "The blue dress she wore was a little higher than I would expect from a respectable girl such as herself, but maybe she wasn't the woman I had made her out to be in my head." He tries to control her romantic life and he contemplates physically assaulting her to make her obey his arbitrary rules for her conduct.
This isn't to say Chloe would be easy to live with. She isn't. Despite being a legal adult, her personality is basically that of a manipulative teenager. Instead of being concerned with the threats to her father's life and the possibility of threats to her own, she dismisses it all and attempts to ditch Ian on several occasions. She also does things like regularly park in handicapped parking spots because her father makes sure she never faces consequences for her actions. It's hard to tell how much of her utter cluelessness is intended to be part of her character and how much is the result of this book being written very quickly. For example, at one point she's told that this isn't the first time her father is running for office and she's surprised . . . but he's a long-time US senator. How could this be the first time he's running for office?
Both characters are mercurial and contradictory, which is what makes me skeptical that a single author wrote this book.
This is a really good book about two people that have layers and they both are looking for something soothing and different. Ian is a recovered drug addict who former girlfriend died horribly. He is a bodyguard working in security for a hospital. His brother hooks him up with a job guarding a Senator’s daughter. Chloe is home for the summer from college. She finds out that her dad is assigning her protection since he is running for President. Now she doesn’t have a good relationship with her dad and her mother is deceased. Chloe is hissy fit city most of the time so she can be difficult to work with. She’s a typical rich white girl with no real concerns in life. She always gets her way and is not accustomed to following directions. So Chloe is very needy with daddy issues. Ian got his heart broken dealing with his last relationship. He wants female affection so badly that he had vowed to leave women alone unless it’s one nighters. He falls in love easily and gets crushed hard when it doesn’t work out. Now Ian is gorgeous and tall and extremely built. He’s passionate and emotional and communicative. This man tells it like it is and isn’t afraid to use his words. Why hasn’t some good hearted female just taken Ian and made him fall for her is beyond me. Sometimes scars run too deep. Now of course the dad never wants too see them together since his brat is too good for anyone; and Ian is a muscled bound gutter trash thug with a checkered past. The opposites are set perfectly and I actually wanna read how this turns out. Will Chloe go against her dad and be with Ian? Guess I will have to read the next book and see. 👩🏾
To everyone Chloe Moore has everything, she is has friends and money and her father is the Governor of California and is going to run for the presidency but she doesn't have her mother whom she lost when she was little and she doesn't know who her true friends are. Senator Moore is very protective his little girl Chloe and has had to hire bodyguards to watch over her because he has received death threats.
Ian Matthenson is trying to straighten up his life after a troubled past when his older brother gets him the job of watching Senator Moore's daughter. But has he bitten off more than he can chew? What looks like a good job turns into a nightmare leaving all involved not knowing who to trust and where to turn.
This is a great read and the suspense keeps on building.
Chloe is a spoiled little rich girl, or so it seems. As Ian gets to know her, he realizes that is what everyone expects, so that is the persona she gives them. She couldn't be more genuine...and he couldn't be falling faster. Life hadn't been easy for him. With Chloe, everything just seems right. This is a fun, fast-paced story about falling in love (quickly) with what others see as the wrong person that is just perfect for you. I love the relationship that grows between them. I also liked how he was sent to rescue her, by the one man she knew would protect her above anything else.
I wanted badly to mark this as a DNF but I persisted. It needed an editor something fierce. The main female was horrible. A nasty little spoiled brat. It ended on a cliffhanger but I have no desire to learn where it goes. The beginning felt like I was wading through a pile of nonsense. I hate leaving bad reviews but sometimes it's called for.
I'm loving this new series, I've read other works by Ms. Parker and I wasn't sure how interested I'd be in this series. As usual Ms. Parker has not let me down and I can't wait to read books two and three.
