Chastity LaBlanc has lived her whole life in the Willow Creek boardinghouse, watching people come and go. Only her mother's presence has remained steadfast, and Chastity counts on that security. She never knew the father who abandoned her and her mother, and the lack of knowledge has left a void in her life that hinders building of relationships. After ten years of traveling Adam Silverhorn returns to Willow Creek, with photographs, sketches, and paintings of the Klondike gold rush and the wilds of the Yukon—and with a love he has carried in his heart for Chastity.
Afraid to love a man who may leave at any moment, Chastity instead settles for the security she finds in Michael Martin, the young teacher who comes each week to the boardinghouse. She and Michael become engaged, but she soon learns that he wants something she doesn't. Is it too late for Adam, who—true to her expectations—has left again?
Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head—often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted ten and lived (at times, endured) the dream.
Writing first took her to non-fiction human-interest articles for newspapers and eventually a non-fiction book about tuberculosis set in the 1930s and 1940s (Touched By The White Plague). But romance had always been her first love and she turned to writing love stories. She is multi-published in the CBA market.
She lives on a small ranch in Alberta, Canada, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren.
The story seemed overly long and, while Chasity had some growing up to do and problems to overcome, there wasn’t a lot of action. Chasity was content to live a safe life without love, not realizing that life without love is empty. Thankfully the man she was meant to be with was able to show her that hiding from love really what she wanted. Both characters had a faith in God that helped see them through. One of the more interesting part of the story was when Chasity and her mom took in a sick stranger and helped nurse him back to health. He had some of the answers to the questions Chasity had always wondered about her life and why her father left her and her mother so soon after she was born.
Chastity longed for a home and love of her own, but knew her responsibilities were to her ailing mother and the boarding house that provided their income. When Adam returned from a ten year trip to the Klondike gold rush and told her of his love, she struggled to accept a love that would not provide security and steadfastness. In her anxiety, she accepted a proposal from her teacher friend, Michael, until his expectations of her did not match the life and care for others that her mother had taught her. Even though she thought she was trusting God with her future, it was only after she was able to trust in her love that He opened her heart.
This book is an excellent book to read. The storylines keeps your attention all the way through. You do not anticipate what will happen next. The ending is great for you do not know how Chastity is going to work out her true feelings and be happy. Loved this book.
I have been reading Linda Ford’s book for the last several months and have truly enjoyed them. Chastity’s Angel has been the best. I cried tears of joy and hope as the story unfolded and it reminded me of my own love journey with my husband. I am looking forward to my next read.
This book is a bit different from the rest of Linda's books. One that doesn't work around travel for all characters. But for sure one just as complex. One still with a message of great importance, love. Also one about allowing God to lead us on His path for us.
Absolutely wonderful book. Linda Ford’s books are so full of faith, love and truth. Showing us how different our worlds can be when we place our faith and trust in our Lord.
It took me a long time to get into the story but it was so worth it! Great wisdom Chastity learned and it was fun to watch her carry it out. - Babs Wenk
I enjoyed reading more historical content in this book. Interesting take on angels that I’m not in complete agreement with theologically but still a sweet story.
