Who better than Sam York--a super-brain blessed with the body of an Adonis--to head up the research team entrusted with developing the greatest scientific breakthrough since Viagra? His experiments with female libido enhancers need one more crucial test: on a willing human subject. And when ace reporter Cathleen Nichols, the sexy, nosy neighbor Sam's been lusting for, exposes the lab's provocative work in a revealing article, the genius stud knows he's found the perfect participant.
Though Cat has kept her feelings hidden, Sam has been secretly stoking her inner fires for months. Now, with Sam's "wonder formula" tossed into the mix, their unleashed passion is off the charts, rocketing them together into the stratosphere of erotic ecstasy, no emotional strings attached.
In the name of science and journalistic investigation, suddenly nothing is taboo. But what happens when Sam and Cat's sizzling, sensual pleasure game starts to turn into the real thing?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cathryn Fox is a wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She loves dogs, sunny weather, anything chocolate (she never says no to a brownie) pizza and red wine. Cathryn lives in beautiful Nova Scotia with her husband, who is convinced he can turn her into a mixed martial arts fan. When not writing, Cathryn can be found Skyping with her son living in Seattle (could he have moved any farther away?) shopping with her daughter in the city, watching a big action flick with her husband, or hanging out and laughing with friends.
A novella of about 100 pages, better than the previous one but also some major flaws. The story line was rather ok, quite predictible but good enough. The hot scenes were much more steamy than in the previous book and some were indeed rather good. Then the scientific experimentation and the professionalism of the so-called genius scientist were laughable. The self assessment and recording of results during the experimentation just does not make sense, especially for a drug that is supposed to modify perception. I liked however the change in the heroine's perception of her dream vs. actual job and how the hero contributed to that. Last the timeline over a few days once again was too rushed to make the HEA totally convincing.
Very basic, simple story. Not sure I'll do a full review on my blog. Just glad it was not only a bargain prices book at $4.98, but it was 50% off clearance, and I got another 10% off for my B&N membership.
I am an untamed book whore, Evaluating erotica is not a chore. Through high and lows my sexuality sprout, Alas! I’m suffering from a stimulating script drought.
The best thing I can say about this is that it was short. Also, that these characters could have been fun if Fox had chosen to flesh them out and write a story for them. This reads like 1/4 of a first draft.
When a journalist inadvertently publishes an article that gets a local researcher in hot water, she sets out to make things right.... Cat Nichols, author of a humorous column "Cat on the prowl" detailing the hilarities of others' dating misadventures, decides she needs to write a serious article if she is ever to become a successful investigative journalist. She writes about a local research company's experiment with a female pleasure-enhancing serum. In an offhand statement, she mentions the lead researcher's (Sam's) pet chimp. Now the research company is besieged by protestors and activists, the board of directors has put a hold on any further testing, and Sam is facing a deadline for a grant and unable to complete his trials. Feeling terrible, and responsible for the fallout from her article, Cat offers herself in the animal's place. She has no idea what she's in for.... Sam York has been attracted to his curvaceous and lovely neighbor for months. When she offers herself as a replacement test subject so he can complete his experiment he is intrigued and eager. In spite of telling himself over and over it is just for work, he finds himself falling for Cat. Finding her much more than he thought, and becoming inextricably linked to her life, he is able to complete testing. Then things start going wrong at the lab and he doesn't know who he can trust. Having been hurt before makes him fearful and cautious about where things are going with Cat and if he can truly rely on her. What he doesn't know is Cat is in the same boat.... Can the two find each other and themselves, before it is too late?
This book was a romance, obviously, but it also had a little mystery in it. I found that I really invested in the characters wanting them to find their places and for their "experiment" to work out. Despite its' relatively short length, the book didn't leave anything unsolved and the ending was so sweet.
I got it in my head a few weeks ago that I hadn't read any good erotica in a long time. I still haven't. The books I've read, including Pleasure Exchange, have been huge disappointments. Yet another Harlequin-type romance, complete with happily ever after, with much of the plot removed to make room for more, longer sex scenes. Which aren't even all that inventive or arousing.
A sweet erotic romance, which held my interest. If you are looking for hard core erotic novel, this would not be the book for you. It is more sweet erotic, in my opinion. A great quick read.
It has been a little while since I read this series but as I recall it was a yummy smexy read. Loads of steam to really warm a gal up!! Quick and light reading with all sorts of hot and heavy action!!
A quick, erotic romance...pretty racy with some language so be prepared if attempting this one. On the other hand, in the end Sam and Cat get together.
Tale as old as science. Lacking human test subjects for a new love potion, hunky scientist persuade a lovely neighbor to be his voluntary participant. End results? A steamy romance.
