Classic horror from the past with a great cover and title! An ancient evil named the Messenger tries to break into our world. The druids banned it. Now with the help of an assistant named Evone Dragosi he starts another attempt. Can Caroline and her friends stop the entity? The book started strong with descriptions of the druids/the myth and I also like the background story of Mon, his diary, the discovery of the druidic tomb, the relic and how Caroline got involved into all this. Later on with the sadistic Evonce chasing her and the showdown the plot was a bit too standard. Nevertheless an intriguing horror fest with some intense and shocking moments. Really recommended!

Some okay horror stuff in the beginning, but I was finding the omniscient character interactions annoying. About a third through the book and I stopped reading it; tired of the diary entries that were in itself another style of novel, including some soft porn - nothing against that, but I felt like another novel I didn't want to read was invading the novel I was barely holding interest in.

The first few chapters were intriguing, especially with the opening killing scene. And then the plot drags on for too long. Some of the scenes didn't make sense at all and left with more questions than answer. This book is a huge mess.

Not sure what I was expecting from this book.

I think I was expecting more of a occult type novel like The Sentinel but this was quite different.

The book was free as an old library book the library was purging. DNF at about half way through.
