Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
These two books were written not to a single church but to a specific person. Namely Timothy, who had been a companion of Paul on his missionary travels before he stayed behind in Lystra to become their pastor.
In 1st Tim. Paul describes the qualifications of church officers, while in 2d Tim, Paul requests Timothy to come to Rome to see him.
Fave verses: 1 Tim. 1:5 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
2 Tim. 2: 6 The husbandman that laboreth must be partaker of the first fruits.
The Book of Timothy in the New Testament is a fascinating addition to the Bible, filled with rich wisdom, insight, and guidance for all readers. Written by the Apostle Paul to his dear friend and disciple, Timothy, it serves as a powerful testament to the strength of faith and the importance of living in alignment with the divine will.
At its core, the Book of Timothy is a call to action, urging readers to live a life of purity, goodness, and love. Paul writes passionately about the need for believers to be steadfast in their faith, to pursue righteousness, and to flee from sin and temptation. One of the most striking aspects of this book is its intimate tone. my thoughts: on second Timothy. Already reviewed/read the first
we cannot follow earthy desires and Gods will. We cannot be hearing from God when not following Him. It’s simple. Paul says in this book many times that if you deny God, He will deny you.
“All who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”
All scripture is inspired by God and made to be a guide for a Christian.
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4 KJV
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” 1 Timothy 6:6-8 KJV
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
“But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,”. 2 Timothy 2:23-24 KJV
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
