Life and Letters of John Albert Broadus
Excerpt from Life and Letters of John Albert Broadus
Chapter XV. Is written by one of Doctor Broadus's daughters, Mrs. S. C. Mitchell, and gives a fresh view of our many-sided scholar. The copious and useful Index is the work of another daughter, Miss E. S. Broadus.
It remains that I acknowledge gratefully the kindness of my colleagues, Drs. J. R. Sampey and E. C. Dargan, who have read the book in manuscript and offered many helpful suggestions. I have sought to be just toward all the many interests that touch such a life as that of Doc tor Broadus.
It has been a labor of love through these four years to work over the facts and forces in the career of John A.

Right now I am being blown away by this work. I absolutely love it. Something about biography in the form of letters is pretty exciting. I feel like I know this guy. I have watched him fear and seen his struggles. It's convicting, funny, and sad. If you want to know some Baptist history then read this book.
I am disappointed at how little I knew about such an important figure in Baptist life. We owe much respect the incredible work and legacy that Broadus left. Every respectable Baptist should read this book or one like it. It is awesome to see such a brilliant man at work for God. It was great to see the exchange of information through the letters of broadus.
