Katie de Long writes steamy and dark New York Times and USA Today bestselling romances. She publishes paranormal romance as K. de Long, flirty, daring contemporaries as Lila Vega, and dark, sensuous romantic thrillers and dark romance as Tiger Tarantino. Her books blend the bloody punch-to-the-gut spectacle and wit of a David Fincher movie with kink, chemistry, and edgy, angsty romance.
Katie lives in the Pacific northwest, realizing her dream of being a crazy cat-lady. As a kid, she flagged the fade-to-blacks in every adult book she encountered, and when she began writing, she vowed to use cutaways sparingly. After all, that’s when the good stuff happens. And on a kindle, no one asks why there’s so many bookmarks in her library.

This was short, sweet, and to the pointe.

Ha! See what I did there? Dancer jokes are fantastic, barre none. Seriously, I can keep this up all night. (That's what he said)

Ok, fourteen year old moment over.

I'm out.

Malia is a reluctant stripper. She was a classically trained dancer and was employed once by a Ballet troupe. She got injured and her whole world fell apart. Her mother dismissed her and her ballet partner was a constant reminder of what could have been. AND she could no longer professionally dance. Well in a leotard anyway!

Forced to live with her own body's betrayal she stripped. She was good at it as her body was conditioned for the moves. BUT her new world collided with her old when her old boyfriend came into the club for his brothers bachelor party.

Now where to begin. The premise was good. Solid girl turned to stripping because she had nothing to lose and needed the money. BUT the story itself was was too technical, toooooooooo much ballet terminology which would have turned any reader off if they didn't know the terms. I do as I was a ballet enthusiast and danced for 14 years. The story lost me a few times and I found myself skipping through her internal musing. It failed to grasp me.

Along with the technical ballet terms, this erotica categorized novella only had mild sex scene so I was waiting for something that didn't deliver. To top it off Malia seemed to have hated herself for being a stripper. Eh... Most girls don't want to strip but seem to enjoy it. She HATED it.

The characters didn't lack dimension and that was a solid plus for the author. Her writing was structured and well written. The story seemed like more technical terminology then a fun short about stripping.

Terrific! This book shows the life of now stripper Malia as she deals with a blast from the past that she just wasn't expecting in any way at all.

This book, like the first in this series that I read, takes one of the exotic dancers that works as the Queen of Clubs and draws you into their private lives. I won't give anything away from the book because you really need to read it for yourself, but I will just let you know there is a bit of blood in this one!

The author writes so well you get sucked right into the life of Malia and you grow to understand here quite a bit. There may be a time or two you'd like to shake her up and tell her to knock it off of something similar but that just goes to show that the author has you so into the story you feel the authenticity of the characters! It's so very well written.

I love these books and can't wait to read more from the author. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes a fairly quick read that takes you on a journey into the life of a girl that isn't as she seems at first glance.

I thought that this book had some potential as a novella about a second chance romance, but there were areas where it fell short.

First, I loved that the main characters were each others first loves, so the instant connection/rekindling didn't feel forced or fake. I also love there there wasn't a lot of wasted tie between the characters because they had such a strong history and understanding of one another. The relationship between Malia and Ben was sweet and not what I had expected from a "stripper story".

With that said however, I just that the story it self was a bit disjointed and confusing. This book was just too short for the amount of time that was spent talking about shoes and giving up ballet lessons. I wish that the author would have spent more time on the characters and their relationship, as opposed to the pointless topics it spent too much time focused on.

This was a touching reunion story of former ballet dancer Kalani, and Ben. An injury forces Kalani to give up ballet. She also turns away from the love of her life, Ben. Stripping for a living, she runs into Ben at a Bachelor party-Ben is her former partner and first love. Ben never stopped loving her, and an emotional Kalani is torn between just letting go and loving Ben, or playing out the what ifs? After some very hot sex on a washing machine, and an even hotter bath scene, the reader is left smiling and satisfied with the happy ending. Short, touching, and romantic.

Quick read that isn't your normal "stripper" story. The female lead was amazingly written. She was your normal, everyday person trying to pay bills. The male lead supported her and didn't try to change anything. Good story...can't wait to read more from the author.

small novellas in part 2 of the story.
i came in late to it but was able to catch up.

there was a lot of technical terms so the author knew her stuff but it was overboard and took away from the story.
there were some fun scenes with the girls.
the story was well written and had a good plot line. i just wished it was more fun and less technical.

I don't know if I'm crazy for expecting a little depth even in a short story but this doesn't really have that. The plot seemed disjointed and a bit hard to follow. For a quick read, its an ok story. Don't expect to be dazzled though. Sorry : (
