Legend says if you wear a black wedding dress you’re pining for a lost love. When someone walks out on you they’re gone forever. At least that’s how Honey Hampton sees things. But before she can leave her sister’s graveside service, Honey runs straight into her past, her lost love, Porter Landon. Porter has returned to Flying Hills with his family… and a request. Seeking a respite from her grief, Honey tumbles headlong into the midst of Porter’s family drama. But Honey refuses to lose her heart again to the only person she’s ever been in love with. Porter is as gallant as he is regretful over his actions that caused Honey so much hurt years ago. Will Porter and Honey regain the love they thought was lost to them? Or will the same bitter mistakes destroy them once again?

The Little Black Wedding Dress totally had me hooked. I liked the contemporary love story of a past love who comes back into the main character's life. I liked that there were all sorts of different issues that she had to deal with and you weren't sure at times what might happen in those instances. I liked that even though there was a romantic interest the story for the most part wasn't always focused on that. I also liked how even though Sophie had the stigma of being an unwed mother, she had a dream and we get to see her life changing for the better and giving her more self esteem. The story was just written so well that it made me want to read any other books written by this author. I have been given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Lindi Peterson brings us a delightful book in the Little Black Wedding Dress. You are transported to the town of Flying Hills as Honey struggles with her life. I loved all the characters and their interaction. Lindi has a light hearted style to writing, even when dealing with serious issues. This is a must read book. I was appreciative of an advance readers copy and I'm giving my honest opinion.
What a great story! Honey is a great character! Love how she's so willing to be there to help her family through her sisters cancer then death. Then Porter shows back up in town about the same time...18 yrs after breaking Honeys heart and now he needs her?! Wants her to help him with his messed up family?! Honey's bridal dress shop is the hub of all the action in this story...will the dream little black wedding dress ever be worn? Or will she sell it? Loved the story and can't wait to find out what happens with the other characters in this story! I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review. Great read!!
This is the first I have read by this author, but I definitely look forward to reading more by her. I was caught up in Honey's life from the first pages and it was fun following her and her relationship with Porter to see if they were going to be able to get past prior hurts and find a future together. The book is a wonderful combination of faith and romance along with a group of characters that made for a very enjoyable read. I was given a book in return for an honest review, and this is one that a definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good Christian romance.
I didn't enjoy Ms. Peterson's writing, especially the use of the present tense. The use of present tense always seems to smack of badly written online fan fiction. Also, this is supposed to be in the inspirational category, but I'm not sure why. Surely, it's contemporary, and there's no hanky-panky, but it wasn't Christian.
The main character's name is Honey. Honey. Really? I don't like how manipulative Porter is. I don't like how weak Honey is. And I didn't like the fact that Ms. Peterson writes at least a dozen times "Legend has it, if you wear a black dress on your wedding, you're pining for a lost love." I got it the first time. Why did it need to be repeated a bunch more times.
Starting this book was kind of slow. It didn't hook me right away, but as I read further I definitely got hooked. Once I was hooked I couldn't put it down. I loved it and will be looking at more from this author.
