This short story shows the reader a glipse behind Riece's thoughts when he first met Clio. I loved getting to witness Riece's emotions during this critical moment in the series. Overall 5/5 stars; this story is enjoyable, even to people who haven't read any of the other books in the series.

The Commander by Emily Wibberley is a thrilling glimpse into the mind of The Last Oracle leading man and fierce commander, Riece and is a quick and delectable read that fans of the series will simply adore!

As a fan of The Last Oracle series, I was highly excited to devour this short story told through the POV or Riece. Only a chapter long, The Commander details the moment that Riece and Cleo meet in the first book, Sacrificed and is sooooo good.

I love Riece! He is an incredible character who has always been devoted to Cleo and has always stood by her side. The tension and attraction that simmers between them has always been powerful and I loved seeing Riece experience it firsthand during his first meeting with Cleo.

Fast, quick and perfect for fans of this series, The Commander leaves me raring for the next full-length installement in this series!

So this is a short story, a really short story. When I say short here, I mean as in only one scene. This scene was actually in Sacrificed but now it is retold from Riece’s point of view.

If you have read my reviews of Sacrificed and Forsworn, it is no surprise that I love Riece. Therefore, I was going to have to love The Commander.

The scene this short story retells is the first time that Riece meets Clio. I loved seeing his thoughts of that moment and how he already cared for her even knowing nothing about her save that she was a slave soon to be sacrificed atop Morek’s pyramid.

In all, this was a quick read of a wonderfully written scene told by Riece. If you read Sacrificed and loved Riece, you’ll love this story.

I received this book for free from the author for review consideration. This in no way affects my opinion of the title nor the content of this review.

The Commander!!! This is sitting here for a while now and I finally read it, cause even though it hasn't been THAT long since I read Forsworn, I just really miss the characters, the story and the world. So this was just a little something to ease that.

I love having the moment after they first met, their first conversation, from Riece's point of view. I just remember hating him back then with such a burning passion, cause he was everything that was wrong about this world that we have in the books. But man, how things turned around and now I love him to pieces.

It's amazing how in that little moment that he had with her, tending to her wounds and everything, how he had so much respect for her, even though she was just one of many slaves. But she's such a strong person and such a fighter.

Pretty good, quick read from Riece's point-of-view. It's set back to the first book, Sacrificed. It picks up when Riece and Clio first meet and ends when Riece tells her his name.

Read this book in literally 5 minutes. Super quick read that was enjoyable but now I want to read more from Riece's point-of-view

I definitely remember this scene from Sacrificed. Love that Emily Wibberley has rewrote it from Riece's POV! Short but infinitely sweet.

Ok. I am team Riece. I loved his character in Sacrificed.
I distinctly remember this scene where he first meets Clio. And I was intrigued by the connection. It was interesting to see what Riece was thinking but I thought it might have been a bit deeper. This seemed quickly written and less gripping than the first book.
I would have much preferred reading chapters about his inner turmoil from a later point in Sacrificed.
That being said... it reminds me I must purchase Forsworn and spend some time with my Kindle

I really enjoyed this glimpse into Riece's perspective. It's quite short - a single scene from Sacrificed written from Riece's POV - but plenty of emotion and insight is conveyed and it was one of my favourite moments from Sacrificed anyway, so I was having a great time. I thought the writing style was still elegant and effortless in a similar way to Book 1, and I was hooked from the first line and quickly carried through to the end.

I'm a happy camper, I thought this was great :)

I really enjoyed reading both Sacrificed, and Forsworn, so obviously I had to read this story too.
And I liked it a lot! I would have loved for it to be longer, though, but that's only because I really enjoyed getting to read a bit of the story from Riece's point of view. It was a great way to get an insight into what made Clio stand out and why Riece ended up doing, what he did.

If you enjoyed the series, you certainly don't want to miss this!

This is a nice addition to "The last Oracle" series. I got it for free and it was a good read, but I am glad that I didn't pay anything for it. It is interesting for fans, especially Riece's fans, but I was hoping for more. It is very short and I think it would have been a lot more interesting to show Riece's point of view at a later point of the story.

Even though I knew this would be a super quick read, I was kind of hoping for more with it. I didn't really get the insight into Riece that I thought I would. Still...it wasn't bad.
