Annwyn #7

Taming the Assassin

Rate this book
All he wants is his freedom and all she needs are her memories.

Kaid White is a kelpie. Born a horse in the fairy kingdom of Annwyn, he crossed the veil to the mortal world and learned how to shift and become a man. But his freedom, in the form of a bridle is owned by his closest friend Henry Saint, the Darkling Lord. When Henry refuses to return Kaid’s bridle and release him from his duties as court assassin.
Desperate to control his own life, Kaid turns to the one person who once knew too much about the fairy world. The woman he betrayed on Henry’s command.
Janet Yale was on a mission, if only she could remember what it was. A journalist, she was working on a big story only to lose all her notes and her memory of it. Until a strange man appears and sparks recognition. She’ll do anything to keep Kaid close if it will unlock her memory, even assisting him to find something he lost.
As Kaid and Janet work together following clues to where the bridle might be hidden, their attraction grows. Unable to lie to Janet any longer Kaid confesses he is fairy. Janet remembers her story and his original betrayal. Now she is torn between the man she thought she loved and what she thought she knew. What is real when memories can be erased and horses can turn into men?

This is Kaid's story! People who have read the Darkling Lord have been asking if his story would be told. Yes it will be, and you only have to wait until September...And if you've read Singer of Death you've also met the heroine ;)

>Pained look< I’m about to do what drives syncop....uh...super fans nuts - dock a book for editing issues. I don’t normally do that unless it’s really bad. I usually just grumble a bit but come on; two chapters were swapped and nobody caught that???? It was the last two chapters at that, so you get the ending spoiled before reading how.

As for the meat of the story (heh), the H is a kelpie. His h was introduced the book before, and had her mind wiped. The H was bothered by that, and by the realization that the Darkling Lord couldn’t give him his bridle, so he went to errr...kill two birds with one stone - look for the bridle and check on her. She’s...stubborn. She’s figured out what was done to her, and is continuing her research while fighting the mental tripwire left by Bronwen. They do figure out a loophole and free him - from the Darkling Lord. He’s not free though, but totally accepts his new mistress.

Eh, it’s a good story aside from editing issues and making me hate several previous MCs.

Great Series!
This is a great series; this is the sixth book in the Court of Annwyn series by Shona Husk. Janet Yale is a reporter working on the story of a lifetime, but then she loses her leads, her records and her memories. Kaid White is a kelpie, he was born a horse but has learned how to shift into a man. He knows that Jenet would be able to help him get released for the Darkling Lord that is holding him. I have been waiting for Kaid’s story and I was excited to read this. If you are looking for a great book then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book by this author.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Janet Yale is a reporter chasing after paranormal stories. She knows she was onto something big but she can't remember what. She has blank spaces in her memory and her laptop. Then she meets Kaid White, his presence triggers something in her.
I like stories about fairies and other mythological creatures, I learned about one I had never heard of. The story was very short lived, it seemed to happen within a few days. Not a lot of excitement. May help to have read other books from the Court of Annwyn series. This book is for readers who like a series that are related to one topic.
Would rate this book 3 out of 5 fangs.
