Bruce Wayne attends a night at the circus, a night that changes his entire life when a certain 10-year-old boy experiences a tragedy that sets him on a collision course with the Dark Knight. But, if the Joker blows up Gotham City, will any of it matter?

I love me some Joker, and he is brutal here. Not much of a fan of his exaggerated face though. And I've been really into the investigation storyline, but at the end we get hints of the Robin origin story, which might feel shoehorned into this storyline even though I knew that it was coming at some point.
Wow they really stepped up Piano teeth joker from the long halloween story line, this is a full issue of joker just going off the rails and killing everyone and anyone he can. Especially his own men. The issue even starts with Joker holding onto the side of a car as he guns down the Maroni Italian restaurant, before they are able to blow up his car, sending him crawling into the sewers, whole his men died in the car explosion. Even if they didn't die, their masks were rigged with joker toxin to kill them anyway. While batman is on the scene he is able to figure out Joker escaped into the sewers, he is their number one priority right now and it has been a tough road for Jim and Batman to start working together again. The next location on Joker's Gotham tour takes him to the Falcone penthouse, where a meeting of the Gotham Bank board, including Bruce Wayne is taking place, and where it seems that Mario's new proposal is sparking some interest. Not sure how interested they will be after the joker fired into the room from the window cleaning station. But it seems that Bruce and Mario got away from it fine. We catch Jim running to the elevator after finding out about the board room shooting where he finds Porter and delivers the news to her. He gives her a strange glance when she asks is Mario is okay, but when he presses further about her interest, she shuts him down. But one thing missing from Jim's side right now is his bodyguard, he is supposed to have one at all times. Which is why he sent Detective Gustavson to get the car. Except when they get down to the parking garage they find the detective hanging over the car with a hang man's note pinned to his body. This time it reads "Murder in the first degree," and has a newspaper clipping about Harvey and Jim declaring a war on crime.
But the Joker's night didn't end in the board room, not at all. He is heading upstate to the Falcone Manor where he is firing through Sofia's guards before tossing her and he wheelchair down a flight of stairs!! WHAT?! Sofia can't even move to grab for her gun as her bodyguard lays next to her bleeding out. Joker is attempting to call her out on her "bluff," fully believing that she is faking and can get up at any point. So she should do that before he blows her head off. But suddenly a different gunshot rings out, as Alberto Falcone shoots Joker with his .22 pistol. Suddenly batman busts through the window as he beats down Alberto immediately, yelling that he warned Alberto he would be watching and waiting for the day he picked up a gun again. But this really isn't the time for Alberto, after all...Joker is the priority. Batman was able to catch up and beat joker down and ask why he did it. All Joker can do is laugh and claim he doesn't get it, and that if batman didn't interrupt he would of killed all of them.
As the issue comes to an end we jump over to Haly's circus, where a curious Dick Grayson can be seen jumping around the poles and banners strung up around the circus, as he watches a fat man named Zucco meet with the boss of the circus about moving some merchandise. And how much of shame it would be if their star act, the flying Graysons, had an "accident," if he doesn't work with him. Lastly, we jump over to Wayne Manor where Bruce arrives home and passes his bloody mask and cape to Alfred as he reviews the mail. Realizing that he didn't get a chance all mother's day to visit his mother's grave. But he did notice an odd thing in his stack of mail, two tickets to the circus. He made a donation a while back and planned on taking Selina. He was about to pass them to Alfred to gift them to someone else, but Alfred reminded him the donation was made to the Martha Wayne foundation, and his mother loved the circus...maybe he should go after all.
