First Impression: It’s really cute and I love how the bees are utilized in the spelling of the title. But they don’t take away from Beauty herself. The beekeeper is also there but again doesn’t take away from Beauty’s presence. The illustrations are simple yet eye catching.
Purchase likely?: I would say yes. The cover as a total is very relevant to the book . The only suggestion I would have is maybe have a lightly colored background that compliments the color scheme. Just to break up the white. There is that chance that I would feel differently if I had the physical book in my hands. To me, it does make a difference.
My Star Rating: 5 bee-utiful stars! (see what I did there?) out of 5!
Book Review
I love to review kids books. I know you’re probably thinking, “What? Why?”. Yes I’m an adult who reads them not only by myself but with my kids. Since they each interact with younger kids constantly it’s a good way to share with them something new to share with everyone. It’s also a wonderful way to connect with my kids. They are 16, 15, and 12 and yes, I’ve found that it’s not so easy to connect with them as much as when they were younger. It’s that darn old growing up thing on us again! Once I have read the book, I often have them read it. Sometimes I read it to them. Their reaction to them always ties into my reviews. Besides that, I love the innocence and lessons that often go into kids books today, versus in my own childhood many moons ago. Yes...many….many moons!
Beauty has a kind heart and a beautiful soul. She is dedicated to her family and it really shows through out the book. She lives with her two sisters and her father, whom is a farmer. As a father he loves to spoil his girls. Beauty is the only one who doesn’t want the physical adornments of his spoiling. She would much rather have the simple things. Things that can be appreciated, like nature.
Unfortunately in his quest to make his daughters happy he makes a mistake. One that will cost him a lot more than he bargained for. In essence he has to pay for his mistake. He makes arrangements with the beekeeper who has unfortunately slighted in his attempt to do good.
Beauty insists on being permitted to take over for her father and the responsibility. In doing so, she gets to see another side of the beekeeper that others don’t. He’s viewed as an angry and difficult man. Sadly, there are those who are judgemental in the world. Beauty knows differently. She eventually cares for him greatly, and learns so much from him! She learns all about the man and the bees he adores.
Eventually it becomes time to visit her family and to explain all that has been going on. The beekeeper had given her two simple household items to use for whenever she wished to come back to him. I thought these were quite magical really and interesting. If she did not have those items, she may not have been able to once again use her generous heart and appreciation to accept and correct a difficult situation.
Creative adoration (positives): It’s a great view on nature and a teaching tool to help kids understand the simplicities of how important it is to take care of it. The explanations about bees, their care and the many uses of their generous gifts is spot on. It’s told in a way that doesn’t overload the child with information, but makes it simple to understand. The illustrations were spot on as well. It’s just enough to not interfere with the story itself and create over stimulation for most people.
Creative indifference (negatives): The only thing that I can say that frustrated me is I wish I knew in the beginning that it was a part of a fairy tale series. At first I thought it was too similar to another fairytale with the theme.Knowing that it’s supposed to be that way as part of a series, it makes sense. Usually, I look up other books by the author before reading it, but this time I forgot. Other than that, it was awesome!
Creative appraisal (overall): We loved it! It was cute and fun, and is something that can be shared with everyone. For me, it was a wonderful way to to do something fun with my kids. No, I realize I don’t need an excuse to do that. I should say it’s another tool in the mom tool bag that helps to create a memory with! It’s an awesome read ! Thanks Aaron and Izzy for the gift of this fun book and I’m happy to add a a honest review!
My star rating: 5 bee-utiful stars! (see what I did there?) out of 5!
A Beautiful Story of Family, Friendship, Love, and BEES!!
Beauty and the Bees by Aaron Burakoff is an adorable book for young children. Even as an adult I could not help but find myself smiling as I read this short story. The illustrations were colorful, fun, and helped tell the story.
Along with just being a cute story, Beauty and the Bees also teaches the reader numerous things. Young readers will learn the importance of bees in nature. Readers will also learn how they help people with the things they do and produce.
I love how the book showed the importance of being a kind and caring person. It also showed the importance of accepting people for who they are, even if they are a bit different. Another facet to this book that I enjoyed is the importance of family and keeping your word.
I can honestly say I loved everything about this book. I would highly recommend anyone with young children purchase the book and read it to his or her kids, or have their kids read it to them. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great children's book. It reminded me a bit of Beauty and the Beast, but is about a bee keeper. It has several great lessons for children, including the importance of bees. The illustrations are beautiful. Children will love this story. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my review.
The moment that I received this book me and my sister were so exited because we knew how funny and entertaining child stories are. After we read together then we tried with the kids from the day care and as we hoped they were laughing and enjoy it (although i think one of the kids still believes that bees are some kind of pets that you can have around). This amazing little story is some kind of retelling of the Beauty and the Beast that take you on a nice and beautiful journey that kids will just love right away.
What a wonderfully different rendition of Beauty and the Beast! My children and myself absolutely loved this book! My children are ages 6 and 8 and were both highly interested in the story as well as the illustrations. They had no difficulty in following along with me and understanding the concepts of the story. I love the classic story, Beauty and the Beast, but what a great idea to trans-modify a classic into a life lesson for children. Both of my children were able to read this story to me, my youngest still required help. The story is not long, so it grasps the children's attention and holds it until the very end. The beekeeper replacing the beast was one of my children's favorite aspects of the story. Both of my children have a fear of bees, and this story most definitely helped in easing those fears. Now my children understand the importance of bees and why they are not here on earth to be vengeful or scary to children. I have discussed the importance of bees many times with my children, but for some reason, this book was the ticket to getting the lesson to stick. I would highly recommend this book to any child as an addition to your classic storybook collection. Children tend to learn more from stories and are able to absorb more information with the illustrations and the verbiage in children's stories. I can't wait to read more from this collection to my children! I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
As a Bee enthusiast I just loved this book! A twist on a classic fairy tale, made to engage young readers in learning about Bees and their needs. I love the end with encouragement for children to get involved in helping their local community.
Beautiful illustrations, bright colors and a sweet, easy to read story. My children and I loved it!
