Protecting Her Daughter is a book that surprised me. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did when I started it, but it was really good!
The characters were funny and endearing. I loved getting to know them a little better and I liked how it didn't matter that I hadn't read book one (although I have read the second book ;)). The romance was nice and I loved the scene where he (Aaron) comes to the ranch (it was crazy!).
The mystery was good, but it wasn't a big surprise to me. Still, the story held my attention and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Protecting Her Daughter. I loved the setting and can't wait to read the next book after the ending in this one. I think it is going to be very good!
I recommend this is you enjoy Love Inspired Suspense novels. It's a good one.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
4.5 stars I loved the action in this one, but I do have to say my favorite part is how fiercely determined Zoe is about keeping her daughter safe. I've really been enjoying this series.
The only thing that struck me as suspiciously odd is that country veterinarian Aaron only begins to carry a pocketknife halfway through the danger. Why in the world was he not already carrying one? Seems like that would be kinda needed in working with animals.
I have grown very wary of any book published by Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense, but keep getting sucked in by the interesting synopses. Thankfully, this one didn't disappoint too badly.
While I found the characters rather lacking, especially in comparison to some of Eason's other works, the story was interesting and unique, and kept my attention. I do enjoy the clean-suspense aspect of these books, even if I don't like other aspects. It's hard to find clean suspense these days . . .
All in all, this was an interesting novel, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
"Not one of us is perfect or without baggage, but together we can overcome that and build a great life together." ~Aaron Starke; Protecting Her Daughter by Lynette Eason
Would you risk everything, including your own life, to protect your child?
Zoe Collier faces that very scenario in Protecting Her Daughter by Lynette Eason. Not only does her daughter, Sophia, have diabetes, but she's also nearly been kidnapped, and the bad guys have now become even more aggressive and dangerous. At least Zoe has run to Wrangler's Corner, TN. The quiet town is home to the Starke brothers, who head up the protection detail for Zoe and Sophia. But will their efforts be enough to uncover the plot to steal Sophia?
I read this book over the same weekend as the Siesta Scripture Memory Team celebration (SSMT; hosted by Beth Moore). One common theme spoken of at the celebration and in this book was having support around you. Support could be friends, family, neighbors, law enforcement, etc. But our biggest support is God. He cherishes each of us and longs to be involved in our lives. And He also places people in our lives to encourage us along the journey.
That's one very evident thing I've enjoyed in reading Eason's Wrangler's Corner series. The Starke family and their friends come to the aid of people in trouble, no matter the risk it places on their own lives. Such sacrificial love for relative strangers is a beautiful glimpse at the overwhelming love and protection the Lord God feels for each one of us, whom He knows intimately. I really appreciate stories like Protecting Her Daughter, because they reflect the Lord's love for us so well.
Thank you to Lynette Eason and her publisher for allowing me to read an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Both stories in Protecting Her Daughter were enjoyable and had plenty of action to keep me engaged and glued to the pages. I couldn't put them down. The characters are realistic, and the storylines are one surprise after another. The endings wrapped everything up nicely and had some twists to them. I loved how the faith element was incorporated into each story. Highly recommended.
Fast paced action through the story kept me glued into the book, the tension, danger, and threat never let up, the pieces of the puzzle are revealed through the tale, as the story unfolds, the reality of the terror sets in, and lives are in peril. This is one of those stories, that you get so submerged in it, you lose the sense of time. The action is constant, the fear is palpable, and clues to solve the mystery of the attackers are rare. I liked the tone of the story, how it unfolds so smoothly, flowing nicely through the pages. The characters are easy to relate to, they are honest, reliable, caring, and protective. They also had more depth to them than I first expected, hidden layers of hurt and life lessons, that had molded them to be the people they are today. I liked how the whole small town rallied around to protect Zoe and Sophia, even though they were new in town. Aaron is such a solid, down to earth person. He is open and honest about his feelings, he isn't shy about his intentions, he listens, is supportive, and doesn't judge. Together with Zoe, and Sophia, the three already seem to make a solid unit, a family of sort, even before any commitment is made. Zoe has been struggling with her faith, her life has been hard, and she is angry with God, for losing so many loved ones around her. As the danger intensifies, she has to open her heart and mind, and see that God hasn't abandoned her, but has walked with her, every step of the way. I loved the author's style to keep the story going, the trouble at the door, while in a natural and fitting way, gave the readers a beautiful story of love, redemption, and faith, including humor, life lessons, and small town living. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
Yet another spectacular book from Lynette Eason! This book makes twenty-one of this author's books that I have read and I have not once been disappointed! I loved this book! Zoe and Aaron were such great main characters, I admired Zoe's tenacity in overcoming her demons as well as her ability to keep her head and remain calm in a crisis. And I loved Aaron, he totally made me swoon, I admit I totally have a thing for the protective guys in books and Aaron totally fits that profile, and I mean come on, a hero that sees you the way God sees you? Seriously what's not to love about Aaron!!! I really liked that this book gave updates on the characters from the first two books, it was neat to see how their lives are going now! The suspense in this book was SOOOOO good, I was literally on the edge of my seat from page one, wondering what would happen next. And I will say that usually I am able to figure out the villain(s) identity(ies) fairly early on in a book like this but I will say that with this one I didn't figure it out until just before the main characters did! Overall this was a really awesome book! I LOVED it and highly recommend it! I can't wait for the next installment in the Wrangler's Corner series, which I believe will be about Amber, I'm so looking forward to finding out what her story is and who her true love will be, I have two thoughts as to who he might possibly be and I can't wait to see if I'm right!
I received a complimentary eARC of this book from the author and publisher in exchange for my honest review which I have done. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
Lynette Eason has once again hit the ball out of the park with Protecting Her Daughter. She draws you in right from the beginning with the action happening in a fast pace that it is hard to draw a deep breath before here you go again. Zoe is a protector of not only her daughter, but the handsome caring Aaron. She doesn't want to put anybody in danger, but realizes that she does need help. Aaron finds the wall built around his heart melting the more he is around Zoe and her daughter, Sophie. Will he be able to protect them from an unknown enemy or will he loose her before they have a chance to build a life together. A quick paced page turner that makes you not want to stop reading it until the last word.
This Love Inspired Suspense by Lynette Eason was full of action. I listened to it on audio and it was easy to get caught up in the story and root for the characters. If you enjoy Christian Romantic Suspense, you'll enjoy this one.
Amazing. Phenomenal. I love this story. My favorite character is Sophia. What a bright 9 yr old she is. She's mature beyond her years at times and then at others exactly as a 9 yr old should be. I really like her.
This story is about a mom's journey to protect herself and her daughter. Zoes' recently widowed after her husband died in a car accident. Now she's on the run after an attempted kidnapping of her daughter and some trying to force her car off the road. She skips town and winds up in sleepy little Wrangler's Corner, at least it's sleepy when nothings happening. There she meets Aaron Starke, the local Veterinarian.
After meeting her and spending some time with her Aaron is interested in exploring what could happen between them, but he's torn because he's guarded against anything romantic. When he shows up to the ranch Sophia and Zoe staying at to check on a pregnant heifer and ends up being taken hostage by the same men holding the girls, he takes it on as his personal mission to protect them both and find out who's after them.
The two crash together in more than one way and on multiple occasions. Their action filled adventure is one, that as a mother, would have my heart exploding every day, every minute. I loved the story and am thrilled with the ending.
P.S. I hate some of the characters, only because they were written so well and made excellent bad guys.
No rodeo here but a good mystery as to why someone wants to kidnap Zoe Collier's daughter Sophia, and kill her. Enter handsome veterinarian Aaron Stark who meets Zoe and Sophia when he is hired to help their cow who is about to deliver a calf any day now. It is actually the cow of the owners of the people they are housesitting for. Zoe has already left her home in Knoxville to hide out in Wrangler's Corner to keep her daughter and her safe. How did they find her? No one knew where she had gone. Zoe does have many secrets but nothing that should cause someone to want to kill her and take her daughter. I really liked this one, although I thought Aaron did a little too much police work but than his brother is the Sheriff of the town. I guessed who was behind the ordeal before it was revealed but this was the first one out of three books. I also want to complement the narrator Charlotte North, who does that voice so well! I start to speak with a southern accent everything I finish one of these books.
An animal vet and a cop fall in love with the women and kids they were protecting.
Loved being back with the Starke family. Aaron, Zoe and Sophia was exciting from start to finish. Aaron came to farm to check on animal. Not knowing he was going to have to protect someone. But as he was protecting Zoe and Sophia he fell in love with them both. So happy for Clay and Sabrina and their new little one. So happy they adopted the kids from their story too. It hard to believe the bad guy was close to Zoe and Sophia. Isaac and Leah story was exciting from start to finish too. So happy they found Shane. Isaac fell in love with Leah and Ben from the start. But neither wanted a relationship. But that all changed a Leah brought Isaac back to God. So happy for both Ben and Sophia they both got new dads. Looking forward to Shane, Caleb and Declan story. Also the rest of the stories for the Starke family.
Think I've read this before and never bothered listing it. I can see why. While the action is interesting because of the near constant shooting, the love-inspired part seems a bit lacking with Aaron spilling his guts about being touchy because of how Darla used him and Zoe mourning her dead husband (died a year ago) while having pot shots taken at her at almost every turn. I don't know.
They didn't have long to decide they 'loved' each other, which is always a sore spot with me. While the insta-love wasn't entirely instant, the love confession at the end is always one that annoys me. You've known each other how long??? You only really started talking once the shooting started, yet you know you love each other...ooookkkaaayyy then.
The heroine has been thru everything, the hero has not. At first I wondered what they had in common and how they would come together but the author wove such an awesome tale that their being together and falling in love was perfect. As for who is the bad person I suspected who it was about three quarters of the way thru, changed my mind three times before the end. But in the end I was right. I love books like this! Read it and see how awesome if a mystery it is!
Action packed from the very first page. This book is filled with suspense and danger. When someone attempts to kidnap her daughter then run her off the road, Zoe Collier packs her bags and runs straight to Wrangler’s Corner. But when she and her her daughter are followed, it is obvious they are being targeted. Dr. Aaron Starke has to keep check on an animal at the farm where Zoe and her daughter are staying and never expected to end up in the middle of an attempted kidnapping. Needless to say this is one book you will not want to put down until the very end.
Someone tries to abduct her daughter, so Zoe Collier flees to a remote ranch for safety. But the kidnappers follow her to the ranch. She must figure out why they are trying to get her daughter and keep her safe. The local vet Aaron Starke stops by to check on her pregnant heifer and stumbles upon a situation where someone is trying to grab Zoe & her daughter too. Will he be able to protect her and keep her safe? What is going on?
Zoe and Sophia are on the run after a kidnapping attempt and an attempt to run her car off the road. They end up in a small town and meet the friendliest group of people. While house-sitting and caring for animals at a local farm, they're attacked again. Saved by the local vet who is there to treat a pregnant animal and the suspense, mystery and evading the enemy begins.
Though Zoe has distance herself over the years from her family, and her deceased husband’s family. It all played havoc with her and trying to figure out who wants her child, and keeps trying to kill her. It was Touch and go many time to keep them safe. Would she have to keep running, or could she stay in Wrangler’s Corner.
This story has strong characters and a strong storyline with many twists and turns. It has a love story too. It keeps you on the seat of your chair. It was difficult to stop reading and do my chores. Oh well there is always tomorrow to do my chores.
This is the 3rd book in the Wrangler’s Corner series. Aaron, the local vet, becomes entangled in a plot to kidnap Zoe’s daughter. With the help of local police (Aaron’s brother among them), Aaron and Zoe work together to keep her daughter safe and figure out who is behind the attacks.
As a mother you will go to any lengths to protect your child. Zoe proved to be a good mother. Doing everything she could to protect her child. Good clean romance.
Awsome! What a story of a family that hangs together and has room for the lost and money too. Lots of excitement as the story unfolds and once again the bad man was a secret almost to the end of the story. Great writting.
Zoe moved to protect her daughter, Sophia. Aaron is a veterinarian who is checking on a pregnant cow on the farm that Zoe is house sitting at. Aaron walks in on an attempt to kidnap Zoe and Sophia! Will Aaron save them in time? Will they figure who is the attempts to kidnap/kill them?
