'Story telling', a nonstop process; one cannot take a pause in between. The "Storyteller' has to keep the spectators busy throughout. He has to create an atmosphere for them, so truly that they should feel the existence of the characters and incidents appearing or happening in front of them; and while doing so, the "storyteller' has to diplomatically act as if he is meeting the people or witnessing the experiences for the first time. He should never lose the freshness in it. Storytelling is an art. It has to be effective, narrative and flowing. This art has to be practiced very well. This present book reveals the history of this art along with explanations and analysis by the author himself.
Vasant Purushottam Kale, popularly known as Va Pu, was Marathi writer who wrote short stories, novels, and biographical sketches. He authored more than 60 books. His well-known books include Partner, Vapurza, Hi Waat Ekatichi, and Thikri.
Recently I came across storytel and to my great surprise there are so many Marathi audiobooks available there. I am really amazed to find many good novels and I enjoyed listening to them but my greatest pleasure was to find kathakathan books by V. P. Kale. There are about 7-8 books and they are really entertaining.
Of course V P kale is amazingly hilarious and a great narrator. Now some will say what's the big deal but it is. Coz being good writer doesn't really make you a good storyteller. That's another type of art and skill of artist. So truly grateful to have found my go to audiobooks. Must listen or read!!
