Nothing Ventured

Rate this book
Mia Bradshaw realized long ago that falling in love is a harbinger of pain. As a single mom working for one of the most prestigious venture capital firms in the country, she doesn’t have time for serious emotional entanglements. Her sort-of–friend boy is dependable, respectful and…okay, fine, maybe a little lukewarm but whatever! Who ever said there was anything wrong with being…vanilla? It’s safe, low-risk and not fraught with conflict and heart wrenching disappointment.

Chris Camden is one of the most eligible bachelors in northern California. A successful entrepreneur with a hot car and a panty-dropping grin doesn’t need to do much to keep his bed warm at night. His smoldering hazel-eyed gaze makes women melt at his feet. No strings, no conditions, no questions - just the way he likes it. Why should he settle for just one when there are so many sizzling alternatives begging for a spin?

A coveted opportunity to partner with Chris’s company stirs up emotions that threaten everything Mia’s been so careful to protect and control. The guy with more lines than a crowded supermarket before a snowstorm can singe her insides with the slightest accidental touch, proof that she needs to steer clear.

But reality hurls a very unexpected curve ball that can change Mia’s life in a heartbeat. And sometimes…the perception of safety is relative.

***4.5 You Never Know What Could Happen Unless You Try Stars***

I really liked this book!!!! I have not read Kristen Luciani before, and now I regret it!!!

This is the second book in the Venture series and it continues with Mia's story. Mia Bradshaw has made sacrifices to get where she is and she is not going to let anyone stop her. She is the right hand woman to the CEO of one of the most prestigious venture capital firms in the US, and she is not about to let the idea of a frowned upon romance get in her way.

Chris Camden is the guy every other guy wants to be. He is at the top of his game and one of the top players in Silicon Valley. He has already sole one company and he and his partner are about to make LaserShark a household name.  He has girls throwing their panties at him left and right and an uncomplicated hook up, has never been hard for him to find. He has never wanted anything more, until he meets one Mia Bradshaw.

The sexual chemistry between these two is palpable from the second they meet one another and it only gets worse as their relationship develops. Mia is not looking to be another knotch in someone's bed post. She is looking for someone who will love her and her daughter. Its hard to find a guy who wants to take on a career driven single mom. She definitely does not believe that Silicon Valley's resident play boy Chris Camden is up for the challenge. Chris tries to show Mia he is serious, but every time, something or someone gets in the way, and he does not come off as sincere.  Once he gets Mia to see he is serious, a crazy ex attempts to ruin it all.

Side Note: Once these two act on that sexual chemistry, it is HOTT!!!!

I like that Mia was a single mom. I don't personally have children, but so many of the billionaire falls for hot girl books out these days leave out anyone who doesn't fit onto the cookie cutter fantasy. Mia's fiance died in a car crash while she was pregnant, at age 20, does that mean she should be lonely forever? Does that mean that guys are so shallow they can't love her because she has a child? She is no longer "arm candy" because she is not simply a hot body? I liked that Chris stepped up and didn't see this as a negative but rather a positive. I also enjoyed seeing Chris's alpha side come out when it came to his girls!

I also liked that Mia's mom was a bitch. So many times as women we are taught to go to college, meet a man and settle down. But what id we dont want that? Well then, everyone else frowns upon our decisions as though we have the plane. I have had it occur in my own life, so seeing a character with real attributes, makes me smile.

I was drawn in from the first Chris and Mia encounter, and I enjoyed it until the very end!!! You will not be disappointed!

I love love loveeeed this story. My favorite by Kristen Luciani, so far. Mia is a single mother, determined to get ahead and provide beyond the best for her daughter. At times, sassy and at others a bit insecure but she is definitely a strong minded woman who will stop at nothing to reach her goals. Chris is well...hot hot hot. A playboy who's a bit afraid of commitment, however, not afraid to go after what he wants. And he wants Mia. Who doesn't love that in a man *swoon*. Together, they are a perfect duo. They made me laugh, scream in frustration and cry at certain spots. You'll know what I mean when you read it. Their story was un-put-downable (is that even a word? LOL), in other words, I was glued to my kindle from start to finish. Between Kristen's amazing writing and her vivid imagination, I was sucked in to this world that I'm having a hard time getting myself out of. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It definitely was a scorching 5 stars for me. I will always and forever read anything and everything this woman writes !!

Nothing Ventured is an absolutely phenomenal treasure that stole my heart and buried itself deep into my very being. There is nothing more wonderful then finding a story that has such a hold on you that you know you won’t ever be the same afterwards. This is one of those rare gems. I loved every moment that I spent enjoying this incredible story that is so more than it first appears. The real life feel and the astounding depth of emotion made this a truly remarkable and outstanding masterpiece!

Mia has fought long and hard to shape her life exactly the way she wants it. She knows what it takes to succeed and she isn’t about to throw it all away on a whim. She has responsibilities not to mention a past that burned her so badly that she isn’t interested in things she knows she can’t have. Her life is good and is on the cusp of getting better if she can only stay focused. Chris is not interested in commitment of any type unless it involves the company he shares with his best friend. His fear has kept him closed him and only allows for fleeting moments of pretend happiness. He knows the consequences of loving deeply, and he wants no part of it. Unfortunately, what these two want is far from what they actually get when they begin working together. Will Chris run as far and as fast away as he can once the feelings of inklings of commitment begin to paralyze him, and will Mia jump ship on Chris’s account in order to keep her heart far away from the risk of more than a possible bad business deal?

More than anything, I loved how utterly realistic and completely adorable Chris and Mia were in fighting the pull to each other and in how they dealt with their family and friends. There was a level of real life in this story that was downright remarkable and made me fall deeply in love with this story. My heart was invested as soon as Mia and Chris realized that they were powerless to fight against the pull of their heart to the other. No matter how hard they fought their feelings, they knew that they were done for. Nothing would ever be the same, and they had to overcome their deep-rooted fear in order to lay claim to a life and a love that they desperately wanted. I loved that Chris never entirely gave up on Mia no matter how much she put his heart through the wringer. She had so much more to lose, and he was determined to show her that he was worthy of her and of her fragile heart. Oh, how I love heroes that are flawed and yet fiercely determined to prove their worth!

Kristen Luciana is in my opinion the Michelangelo of authors! She epitomizes the highest level of talent and poise in her writing. While some may think that I am deeply embellishing, I dare you to read her books and not walk away with a feeling of raptured awe and sweet contentment. I have been reading stories for as long as I can remember, and you know when you have stumbled onto a true work of art like this one. There is no going back. There is only a thirst for more, and an appreciation for the literary talent that your heart and your mind are privileged to savor and enjoy.

Chris Camden is Silicon Valley's most eligible bachelor, living the good life, or so it seems to everyone around him. The only thing is, it's getting old quick for him. As his best friend is settling down, he starts to see that maybe having someone constant in your life isn't such a bad thing.

Mia Bradshaw is a single mom trying to work her way up the corporate ladder. She puts 150% into all her work while taking care of the love of her life. The only problem is, who's there to take care of her.

When the opportunity arises for Mia to work with Chris... her world starts to tilt on its axis. She wasn't prepared for the slick talking gorgeous man who all of a sudden as an interest in her beyond business.

The sparks fly between Mia and Chris with twists and turns that will keep you glued to the page. I loved Kristen's writing and Nothing Ventured does not disappoint!

Awesome Read!!

I loved this book! The forbidden romance between Mia, the career-obsessed single mom and Chris, the commitment-phobe heartthrob was scorching hot. There were times I wanted to scream at Mia but I wanted to do a whole lot of other things to Chris. =)

It was a definite page-turner with lots of twists and turns. I couldn't put it down and when I finished, I started over again...

Would def recommend!!

This book could have easily been a book hangover for me but I've been exhausted lately so even though I was willing to miss out out sleep, my body wouldn't let me.

From the beginning you see follow Chris and Mia through their lives and how they tie together. I highly recommend this book and I want to know.....
Where is my Chris?

This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read Unlikely Venture first.

I was asked to review Nothing Ventured by the author, Kristin Luciani for a unbiased review for our blog. I readily agreed, the synopsis sounded interesting and told Jen I’d be happy to do it. I’m glad I called dibs on this one – it’s good!
Mia’s a single mom – she was young when her daughter, Chloe was born. Her then fiancé was involved in a car accident and was killed before he could even see his baby girl being born. Although her relationship with her fiancé was very good, she has not had good luck with men since then. And you know the old saying – “Once burned, twice shy.” Mia has spent the last few years concentrating on her daughter and her career; she’s a very talented asset manager and has recently been recruited to work for Blue Coat in the Silicon Valley (part of the San Francisco Bay Area where the technology fields rules) to manage some of their hot accounts, including a new signing, LazerShark. LazerShark is a gaming company with that something extra that is unique to them and in high demand; her boss feels she’s the “second coming” when it comes to what she does so he assigns her to this account.
Chris Camden – well, both he and his best friend James (whom he sometimes refers to as Jay, which I assume is more like “J”) are the brains behind LazerShark. They’re both still young but Chris has already made a name for himself in the Silicon Valley as a mover and a shaker and has already made quite a lot of money on his previous project when it sold. He’s gorgeous and a complete playboy – his family wonders if he’ll ever settle down and he just doesn’t see it happening. So many women, so few nights to spend with each one of them seems to be his mantra!
But after a somewhat less than pleasant first meeting between these two, they realized they needed to make peace with each other to work together. But neither of them minds all that much – they are both very attracted to one another. But there’s that professional line and Mia is pretty strict about following it. She knows if she follows her heart and dates Chris, she’ll be fired instantly and she just can’t afford to take that chance. She plays it safe in most things these days; professionally and personally. Plus she’s dating a guy her mom really pushed her to go out with – there’s no spark and they’re taking things slow but it’s really not exciting her – but she feels he’s a solid guy and it’s safe (especially after her last dating attempt blew up in her face, she feels safe is the way to go). But the problem is, she does feel that spark with Chris and she’d almost allowed herself to forget what that felt like.
I can completely see her issue here. The forbidden bad boy has a lot of appeal anyway, but when he makes it clear he’s very interested in you too, I think it would be much harder to ignore! And taking the safe route and dating the guy your mom likes, well, that’s just not always something that makes your heart pound a bit faster, and this guy just doesn’t make her feel all that excited. She talks it over with one of her best friends, whom also happens to be her sister-in-law (her brother’s wife)…
... “Now can you please let me know what the hell is happening with your love life?” Mia speared a french fry. “It’s going well, I think. He’s really nice and smart and respectful. We have fun together. But it’s still early days, you know?” “Sounds like a dream.” “Mom is shoving me down the aisle, but I want to take things slow.” “Yeah, she’s a big fan. I’m surprised you agreed to go out with him in the first place. I would have thought you’d run in the opposite direction.” “Please, I’d do just about anything to get her off my back. If going out on a date would pacify her, why not? Luckily, he turned out to be a good guy.”…”That’s really great.” Jana flashed a devilish smile. “But let’s turn the conversation back to you getting laid. . .” “We’re nowhere near there yet.” Hell, third base wasn’t even in sight. “Why not? What are you waiting for?” “I guess. . .” Mia shrugged. “I don’t know. I’m still waiting for the right time. It’s been a while, and I want it to mean something.” Or maybe she still wasn’t convinced she’d found the right guy. An image of Chris Camden popped into her mind. Sexy, smoldering, and way too dangerous. “Screw that, sweetie. Just do him already. It’ll be good for you.” She winked…
But you know what they say about your instincts? Following them is usually a good plan, and her instincts keep leading her back to Chris! And who could blame her? Every time she sees him she’s just a bit more enamored, yet she still knows he’s off limits. And with everybody pressuring her to just go out with Alex, she just keeps seeing him even though he just doesn’t excite her. She feels nothing when he touches her. But when Chris inadvertently touches her fingertips, she feels sparks. It’s hard to argue with chemistry!
And Chris, well he’s got the hots for Mia too! He’s never met anybody who makes him feel this way before and it’s kind of blowing his mind. He finds himself thinking about her all the time and even the prettiest of women approaching him (at parties and events) begins to make him question what he really wants out of life. He’s close to his sister and she lost her husband in the line of duty (he was a cop) about a year ago and he’s spending some time with her and her kids to help them through this hard time. His sister loves him to death but doesn’t understand his man-whoring ways. And since he can’t get Mia out of his mind, he’s starting to question his ways as well!
It all comes to a head one night after a date with Alex where things don’t end well. She calls her sister-in-law to ask her and her brother to come over, and Chris overhears and decides to come along to make sure she’s okay. She doesn’t want to be alone and Chris volunteers to stay with her…
“Hey, are you okay?” “Oh my God, you scared me!” He leaned against the door frame, looking irresistibly adorable with his rumpled hair, dress shirt half hanging out of his jeans, and sleeves rolled up to the elbow. “Sorry, I woke up and saw you were gone. [They’d fallen asleep on the couch watching TV] I wanted to make sure everything was under control.”…”Thanks so much for staying. I understand if you want to take off. I’ll be fine.” Swallowing hard, she quickly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Please don’t leave. . .please don’t leave. “I have no doubt, as long as you have your trusty pen. But I’m not going anywhere.” He flashed a sleepy grim. “I mean, except back to the living room. Sweet dreams.” He turned to leave and the pounding in her chest drowned out any rational thought. “Chris,” she whispered. In two steps, she crossed the room and threw her arms around his neck, pressing her lips to his. Mmm, they were so soft. A tingling sensation erupted inside, racing up and down her spine. He gathered her close and hungrily devoured her eager mouth. Every caress made her body quiver with excitement. This was so bad. She had to stop it before things got out of hand. At least, that’s what her mind screamed. But her body had another opinion entirely. Don’t let him go, keep kissing him, don’t let this feeling end. . .ever…
And things just go from there. They try to fight the feelings, but it’s very difficult to deny your heart’s desire, especially when it’s not one-sided.
Following their ups and downs, ins and outs was fun. Things weren’t smooth going after that scorching kiss at all. But that’s part of this story that was fun to read and live along with the characters.
It’s very hard for Mia to trust. It’s hard for Chris to believe he’s only interested in one woman for once in his life. There are a lot of things to overcome but they have that pull toward each other that’s impossible to ignore (even though she tries – putting her career on the line is too big of a risk for her to take).
I enjoyed this book and would like to read more from this author. I felt it was engaging and entertaining and fun. I cared about what was going on in both of their lives and found myself cheering them on (especially Mia, she’s been so hurt in the past that I wanted her to find her happiness)! (By the way. For those of you who aren’t sports fans, a tip-off and other sports terms in this book are referring to basketball. Chloe is on a team and there are a few basketball games with the grown-ups too. It took me a bit of time to figure out what sport they were referring to since I don’t know basketball terms myself.) In any case, I think this book is really very good and I enjoyed it a lot. Give it a try, I think you’ll enjoy it!

Kristen Luciani is a new to me author and I am already in love with her writing. Nothing Ventured is def my favorite of hers so far and I cant wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I loved the tension between Chris and Mia, it really keeps the readers on their toes and wanting so much more.
The suspense had me turning each page and not putting the book down. I needed to know what was coming, I needed to see the final moment when it all came together between them. Then there was the suspense with Mia's wacka doo ex, Kristen Luciani really knows how to keep her readers in a trance from beginning to end.

First off I want to say that this author is a MUST READ!!! I absolutely fell in love with her first book, Unlikely Venture and was super duper excited when she asked me to read and review this one. Her attention to detail in every single aspect of her books blows me away. Mia and Chris are awesome characters both of which I fell in love with instantly. The story flows so well and had me hooked from beginning to the very end. I started reading while in my pjs drinking my coffee and finished it still in my pjs drinking decaf coffee. Needless to say, my hubby and kids had sandwiches for dinner because I was so into this book and just could not put it down. This story really had it all...some really funny moments, hot and steamy moments and of course there is a bad guy. I love that we get to see Mia and Chris grow as individuals. Mia is a single mom to an adorable daughter, Chloe, and she is doing everything she can to provide the best life for her and she is certain that playboy Chris Camden is not it. However, no matter how hard she tries she just can't shut off her feelings for him and he is having the same problem with his feelings for her. I love the dynamics of all the characters including the fantastic secondary ones. I can't wait to read more from this fantastic author. If you haven't read either of her books you really need to go get both of them, you will not regret it!! I rate this one 5 AMAZEBALLS stars!!

I have never read one of Kristen Luciani's books before so I dove right in with just a great synopsis to go on. I really do have a love-hate relationship with books that make me ball my eyes out. I love them because they evoke such a strong response in me but really hate that I ball my eyes out like a darn baby. Prepare yourself now.
Mia is a very strong willed intelligent woman and loving mother working for a venture capital firm when she meets Chris. His bed is a revolving door for blonde, big boobed bimbo's at least according to the couple of people that try's to warn her away. Why should she care as she is seeing someone else, right? She just can't keep her mind off of Chris and apparently he can't keep his mind off of her either. They work together, it won't work. So can they stop these feelings from blowing up in their faces? The ending is where I cried and I won't spoil it for you but it was a good ending with a fantastic gripping plot. I can't wait to read more from Kristen and I hope there is a story about Paul next!
I received a complimentary copy of this title for review purposes.

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

When I first picked this book up, it didn't take long for me to start rooting for Mia and Chris. They're fighting an attraction thanks to their work connection, not to mention Mia has a boyfriend. But it's there, and as unattainable as it seems, they are curious. After Mia's boyfriend proves himself to be a complete jerk, Chris wants to make sure she's okay. Their friendship turns into something more, but there's danger for both of them if they're not careful. Will they be able to come out on the other side unscathed?

Nothing Ventured is a spectacular mix of romance and unexpected suspense. I loved how the story didn't just turn out perfect right away. There were twists and turns and surprising moments (like the incident on the basketball court) and it really added to the story. This is the second book Kristen Luciani's Venture series and I can't wait to get to the first book, Unlikely Venture.

My Rating: Very Good

This story sucked me and and kept me reading right through till the end. It was a love story with lots of drama and surprises along the way.

Mia and Chris meet at a team building basket ball game where they both discover they are new business partners, well kind of.

They have a chemistry that can't be denied but Chris is a man whore and Mia is not only already in a sort of relationship with Alex, but she also won't risk her future or her job on a man who she feels can't commit to anyone.

Alex is not what he seems and he becomes violent and unstable. When the unthinkable happens and Alex attacks Mia, Chris is there to help Mia and their attraction sizzles and things change for both of them.

Their night of passion leaves Chris realising his feelings for Mia are more than just sexual attraction while Mia is struggling with the guilt and avoids Chris as much as she can.

Join Mia and Chris as they find love and each other in this beautifully written love story that will really touch your heart!

Kristen Luciani has done it again. She has a way with words. She can pull you into the story and keep you engaged. There were heart racing moments, times you couldn't help but smile and tears for both of the character as they confess their pasts. I enjoyed getting to know Chris and Mia. Both were very well written and their personalities seemed to come off of the pages. I did not see the end of the book coming. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen. I had the know how this was going to end and then it happened... Pick up this book today! You won't be disappointed in the least.

Mia is a spitfire and knows what she wants in life. She is dating Alex to pacify her mother. That spark just isn't there as much as she tris to force it, she just can't do. From first sight Chris has taken her breath away and she has done the same for this playboy. However, career comes first in both of their lives... Can they truly fight the spark that is between them and the odds that are stacked against them.

Mia is a single mom work for me investment management firm. She meets a good looking guy at a basketball tournament where she finds out he is a partner in the new company she is in charge of managing. Chris is the bad boy, one night stand kind of guy who after meeting the lady who is in charge of helping get investors interested in his and his best friends company. Mia is gorgeous, smart, witty and an amazing basketball player. Mia works hard for their company to make it big in the gaming industry but she knows Chris is off limits not matter how charming he is. Chris can't seem to get Mia out of his head and even after finding out she is involved with a sleazy old colleague from college and she's a mom he still wants her. After Mia breaks things off with her sleazy ex boyfriend Chris comes to the rescue but is there love strong enough to keep them together? This is not a book I would normally read but it was well written and a page turner. I give it 4 fangs. A reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Single mom Mia is being pushed back onto the dating scene by her friends and family. Mia, successful at work, feels her focus should be on her job and her daughter but starts dating Alex to keep the peace, despite not feeling a hint of attraction towards him. There is one man who is able to elicit these feelings from her and that is Chris. Chris is out of bounds though as they are working closely together and he is very much a womaniser. In trying to protect her hear, she still manages to get hurt as there is more to Alex than meets the eye.

This was a look into what can happen when things turn ugly. Despite being a strong, confident woman, Mia did not see it coming.

This is about seizing those opportunities for love when they come along and not settling for anything less. It was quick paced with great characters and a great story that kept you hooked.

Although not necessary, I read Unlikely Venture first to get a feel for Kristen Luciani and her work. It helped give me background on the relationship between Chris Camden and James Callahan partners in their company Lazershark. Her playboy, Chris Camden and single mom but professional powerhouse, Mia Bradshaw are drawn to each other but due to their work relationship it would be unethical for the two of them to act on their feelings. A romance filled with steam and a dark presence, it will keep you guessing what will happen next. Chris and Mia's story has been an amazing read and I hope to see more of them in this series.

I liked this book a lot! Mia and Chris are career-driven characters with undeniable chemistry. Watching them battle themselves and their desire for each other was truly enjoyable. There were certain aspects that really struck a chord, like Mia's single mom life and the startup/venture capitalist world of Silicon Valley. Kristen Luciani really knows her stuff. I recommend this book to anyone who loves sassy, highly ambitious characters in contemporary romance. Reading as a standalone is fine, but the first book, Unlikely Venture, is also a wonderful read!

3.5 stars. This is a cute single parent love story with a bit of a romantic suspense twist. I really like Mia and Chris grew on me. I think it would have been better to have either more or less of the romantic suspense; the amount was a weird amount of detail. Chloe is also great! I want more of her!

Suspenseful and Sexy!! Love the single mom/man-whore storyline! I usually don't like when the hero falls for the heroine way too fast but it works in this book. Mia has alot of hang ups so it was great to read all about Chris and his assertive ways to get her to take a chance with him...onto the next one

A crazy ride of emotions that will have your head spinning.
Mia's life is her daughters. Never caring for her own enjoyment as a strong woman. When she meets Chris there is a strong chemistry that she wants sweep away since it's hard to trust a man.
A beautifully written love story.

"Intoxication immediately transformed into addiction; she was his drug, and he'd never survive without her."

Nothing Ventured is the second book in the Ventured series and continues the journey of LaserShark becoming a household name. This time the focus is on the playboy partner Chris Camden who went previously. He is a ladies man with the looks, wit and smooth moves that has women literally throwing themselves at his feet. Yet with his best friend falling under love's spell he realises that maybe his lifestyle isn't all it appears to be...he's left feeling empty. With his family and friends urging him to find the one can Chris continue to deny the attraction he feels for someone who usually wouldn't be his type?

Mia is the new employee making headlines for all the right reasons at Blue Coat Capital. Given the LaserShark contract she is out to prove her financial judgement is sound and she is worthy of playing with the big boys. Battling against her mother who believes she is failing at being a good parent whilst juggling a demanding career Mia has a lot to prove. Relishing the challenge of making LaserShark an even bigger success she knows the pull she feels towards Chris is forbidden. Yet sometimes what the heart needs isn't always what the head wants. The relationship is taboo as they work together. He's a playboy that is a well known commitmentaphobe. She's a ruthless business woman, lone parent with too much to risk for one night of passion...can they work it out?

Oooooh Nothing Venture is crackling with sexual chemistry, angst and drama all set in a high powered business world where deals are made and broken in the blink of an eye. Networking and appearances are priorities and nothing is as it appears. Mia was an interesting character in book one and I'm so glad she got to tell her story. The will they won't they tension throughout the story was really captivating and held my attention with the added twist of a loony ex tamping up the drama. Her mother. Hmmmmm I didn't like her and even at the end I was still frosty towards her, she's a bitch! I loved the glimpses into Paul Emerson and I hope his story unfolds. I loved seeing James and his romance progress in this story too and it felt like I had a good catch up with old friends.

A four and a half star read.

Readers return to the secret business dealings and romance they were introduced to in the first book in the series, Unlikely Venture. This book is Chris’s story. He is the best friend and partner of James. Chris is a manwhore. In fact, he readily admits that. Mia is a hard-working single mom who supports her daughter, Chloe. She doesn’t have time for relationships, and she will do everything she can to be a success. She was picked by her boss, Paul Emerson, to partner with Chris’s and James’ s successful tech company. The first time the two meet there is a connection between them, but Mia knows she can’t have a relationship with him; it could spell disaster for her job and especially for her heart. This is the first time Chris has ever had feelings for someone, and of course, that scares him. As the two spend more time together, and Mia’s life becomes endangered, the two may realize life isn’t worth living if “nothing is ventured.”

Great story and great characters. The chemistry between Mia and Chris just leapt off the pages and into my heart. As always with a good romance, it’s thrilling to see a woman bring a cocky, sexy man to his knees. Mia does just that to Chris. She and her daughter change Chris’s life in ways he never expected, and it appears that he likes it. I always knew there was a heart underneath that macho exterior. I liked how the characters were intertwined with the other characters. The addition of the suspense in regards to Mia’s stalker made me love the story even more. As with the first book, the secondary characters are strong and complex. Their relationships with Mia and Chris add even more to the book.

This is a great romantic series, but it’s also an in-depth look into the business world. The characters are well-developed. All these aspects pulled me in and kept my interest until the very end. Kristen Luciani has made me a happy girl indeed as I see her third book is finally about Paul. When you read the first two books in the series and get a glimpse of the mysterious Paul Emerson, you will know exactly why I’m so happy his story is being told!!!
