Humpty Dumpty arrives at City Hospital with a cracked shell. All the kings' men tried to help him, but all they did was make him leak yolk. Can he be fixed? With thickly illustrated pages, this story brings a unique twist to a well-known nursery rhyme making it perfect for beginning readers who wait to see if Doctor Glenda and Nurse Percy can save the day and put this egg back together again.
This 44 page book is not as good as others in this series - but it's still fun. My daughter liked it just because it was "Humpty Dumpty" - The lessons learned in this one are a bit more subtle and less spelled out in the text.
Of course there is only so much you can do with building a character and having that character then learn a lesson in such a short book.
"We saw it all" said the king's men - placing the blame squarely on Weasle - but was it done on purpose? You'll have to read it all to find out.
I enjoy story variations on fairy tales and nursery rhymes, so I couldn't resist pulling this off the library shelf. Of course Humpty falls. We learn why he was on the wall, what caused his fall, and that the King's Men got him to the hospital. They took a scolding for moving a victim without proper care.
A lovely humorous book based on the events of "Humpty Dumpty had a great fall". The writer integrates the elements beautifully and gives a valid reason for Humpty's fall too that we never knew about. A fun book to read with your kids.
This title in the popular British easy reader series Urgency Emergency focuses on the story of Humpty Dumpty. Humpty is brought to the emergency room by the “pengamedics” when he falls off a wall and cracks his shell while watching a parade. All the Kings Men and All the Kings Horses had tried to help Humpty before the ambulance arrived, but they only made his injuries worse. Doctor Glenda does some quick thinking and uses some non-traditional methods to “put him back together again” while emphasizing a real medical fact that you should not move an accident victim until the emergency workers arrive because you could do more harm to the patient unless the victim is in more danger from staying where they are.
Newly emergent readers will have a good reading experience with this fun and imaginative take on a classic nursery rhyme. I would highly recommend this book and whole series for purchase for any school or public library.

In this easy reader, we find out what happens to Humpty Dumpty after his great fall. Once arriving at the hospital, Doctor Glenda assess the situation and uses wits and knowledge to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Doctor Glenda also reminds King's men that they should always wait for an ambulance to arrive to help a hurting person. This book has beginning vocabulary along with illustrations on each page that children will appreciate.
I could see reading this book when learning about how to help someone who is hurt or in trouble. This is a good lesson on calling an ambulance and making sure someone who is hurt does not move because that may make it worse. I think you could do many things with this.
Archer, D. (2015). Urgency Emergency! Humpty's Fall. S.l.: Albert Whitman & Company.
This book is part of a series called Urgency Emergency series. Using the tale of Humpty Dumpty the author tells of the kind of care one would receive if they went to an emergency room with a head injury. Of course, the solutions are not real life. But the procedures followed such as getting the history and medical description of what happened. The doctor even goes over what you should do if someone is injured. She talks to the king's men so they will know how to handle injuries and how to get the proper care. Easy to read and very fun simple way to begin to talk to kids about what to expect. The three main characters in this series are; Dr. Glenda, Nurse Percy, and the pengamedics. Other books in this series deal with the big bad wolf, the itsy bitsy spider and a little elephant with a blocked trunk.
Humpty Dumpty arrives in the emergency room with a cracked shell. He’s losing too much yolk. Dr. Glenda must think of something quick. Since it was Weasel’s pop that scared Humpty in the first place and caused him to fall off the wall, Dr. Glenda asked Weasel to give up his headphones and last piece of bubble gum. Dr. Glenda put the headphones on Humpty’s head and tighten them so that the crack in his head was closed up. Then she patched it with a piece of bubble gum to hold it together until it healed. http://julianaleewriter.com/the-cybil...
