I love witty, contemporary romances, not too much sex,, Women's fiction by the likes of Fiona Harper, Julie Cohen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jennifer Crusie and Barbara O'Neal. And I love crime fiction that isn't too gory, or focussed on clue hunting, but is big on character.
My best loved series at the moment are the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths, The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch and the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries by Lesley Cookman. I've just read the first in the Georgina Drake crime series from Kate Hardy and looking forward to the next.

Stars! ~ Being blackmailed by a unsavory celebrity journalist, Nigel, into capturing a photograph of the reclusive novelist Chay Buchanan, Sophie found herself in over her head. She's a photographer on assignment in Malta for a tourism publication, and while there she's to snap Chay's photo to go along with an tabloid article. Sophie's sister Jennie has been missing for seven years, and in exchange for the photo she'll gain the information on where to find her. When Chay rescues her from the cliff side where she had perched herself for her photo, she becomes his captive. He can't trust Sophie, and has a very important deadline approaching that any publicity with his name or photo will shatter. Neither expected an attraction that sizzled each time they were near each other. When Nigel comes looking for Sophie, things turn desperate.
Chay is a man working through his own personal demons over the death of his brother. Sophie's understanding heart reaches him and opens him up. I love their chemistry. Whenever they touch, Sophie seems to ignite and while she thinks it's only her, Chay struggles to hide his own reactions. There are several subplots to this one that I was so glad to see have their own happy resolutions. This is another one for the keeper shelf!
After reading several of Ms. Fielding's early Romances, I've come to admire her talent as a story teller. I've always preferred stories written from both the heroine and hero point of view. When I read these early releases by Ms. Fielding, I find myself so completely involved in the story that I am barely aware that the hero POV is not expressed as such. Her heroes are all so wonderfully developed with dialogue and description. Their actions speak loudly for the men they are and that they are indeed worthy of the heroine

Demi mencari Jennie, saudara kembarnya yang hilang, Sophie Nash bersedia untuk menuruti permintaan Nigel Phillips. Permintaan itu adalah mendapatkan photo Chay Buchanan, seorang novelis tenar yang sekarang hidup di Malta.
Ternyata Chay sangat marah saat Sophie meminta fotonya, bahkan mengancam akan menyandera dan mengurungnya di ruang bawah tanah apabila ketauan masih berkeliaran di sekeliling rumah Chay.
Tapi Sophie pantang mundur. Demi menemukan Jennie, ia nekat memotret Chay saat tengah berenang di rumahnya. Celakanya ia ketauan. Jadilah Sophie ditawan.
Selama ditawan, rasa ketertarikan Sophie pada Chay semakin menjadi-jadi, padahal seharusnya ia membenci Chay karena telah mengurung dirinya di puncak tebing, belum lagi diperintahkan untuk menjadi pengasuh Tom -anak Chay- sementara Theresa -sang pengurus rumah tangga- pergi berlibur.
Di sisi lain, Sophie juga heran mengapa Chay mendadak menghilang dari dunia selebriti 6 tahun belakangan ini. Padahal meninggalnya sang istri -Maria- dan kehadiran putranya -Tom- bukanlah hal yang tabu untuk dipublikasikan.
Ternyata ada rahasia besar yang disembunyikan oleh Chay, mengapa ia menutup diri dari publik. Tapi buntutnya, Chay -secara tidak sengaja- menceritakan segalanya pada Sophie. Sophie pun bertekad untuk tidak membeberkan hal ini pada media.
Chay pun membalas hal ini dengan mencari Jennie, saudara kembar Sophie. Ketika Sophie tidak tahan, ia segera kembali ke Malta untuk menemui Chay. Siapa sangka bahwa ternyata di sana ia bertemu dengan Jennie juga. Chay dan Sophie pun saling menyatakan cinta.

walo awalnya gak nerima lama2 jadi cinta ( biasa deh hehe..)

April 5, 2020I wasn't engaged at all by the writing or the MCs; the pacing was also very slow. I DNF'd this one.
