I really enjoyed this story, for a number of reasons. One, the twist on La Llorona was brilliant! Two, the author is a true storyteller, drawing you into Elena's life and taking you on a roller coaster ride... front seat, arms raised, screams at the ready. I especially love the way cultural practices, such as giving oranges for Halloween, are woven into the story and that Ms. Fuentes draws you into the Moreno garden and family so that you experience their journey right along with them. If you and your children love R.L. Stine's Goosebumps, you'll love Cry on Hallow's Eve

Evangeline Duran Fuentes is truly a storyteller! She brings to life her take on the legend of la llorona! This is the book you want to curl up with on a dark and stormy night! Much like how Bradbury's From the Dust Returned is the Halloween equivalent of A Christmas Carol, Fuentes's work, which will become a Halloween classic in no time, is one to be read throughout the year.

Reminiscent of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps, this has spine-tingling terror, but it is also a integral part of the plot. Fuentes descriptions alone place you right there along with Elena. She provides a strong female character to discover the mystery of the terror she grew up with and the reasons behind it. It has all the best of a mystery, horror, and a twist you wouldn't believe. It is a book I will be reading again and again.

I cannot wait for more by this upcoming and incredible author!

I am a huge fan of the supernatural, the creepy, the scary, etc. This book is great! It has a little bit of everything. I love how the author took a well known folk tale and gave it a little twist to make it her own. She did a fantastic job! I can't wait to read more from this author!

I’m always looking for a great ghost story to read right around Halloween. A CRY ON HALLOW’S EVE is a spooky tale that tells the story of Eve, a woman who has always wondered about secrets in her family. As she discovers two lost boys on her family’s property shortly before Halloween, she gets some answers to her questions. This was a spooky and atmospheric short story that can be read in 30 minutes. 5/5 stars.

Intriguing retelling of a Mexican folktale.

Well-written, reasonably spooky and very atmospheric.

Perfect quick read for Halloween or your very personal spooky season.

A true ghost story.

This easy read is a true ghost story. The old kind that helps solve a mystery and lay a ghost to rest. It's an easy read that I found quite enjoyable.
