Amazing! I’ve read this for learning a new language and I completely fell in love with it. The story and the drawings are just heart capturing. I never got bored of repeating the story and re listening to others peoples’ reading. I realize that this a translation and not the original language of the story, but it’s such a mesmerizing translation:) if you’re looking for a gift for a child, I would definitely recommend that you get this one.

The ebook app version of Who Stole the Moon is fun and interactive for students who enjoyed the original book, and even for those unfamiliar to the original. There are many things for the reader to do as the story progresses. On the initial page, when the screen is touched little space aliens of various forms appear and then float away. On other pages, the globe spins, the light turns on, the telescope moves. On still others, the 'view' from the telescope can be moved to find things on the screen. Unfortunately, this is one of many apps that you can only use so far...for free. Then about 5 or 6 pages in, it stops dead. It is replaced an ad. "If the moon disappeared, wouldn't you be worried too" Help solve the mystery! Meet some amazing animal friends. Play games with them and sing together. Follow Bertie through the whole story." But it'll cost you.
This is something that I ran into often during this assignment. Too many apps pawn themselves off as FREE so that they are downloaded and the kids start reading them and get stuck. What are parents to do now??? They are almost forced to buy it. Also, and I'm not sure of this, but if the IPad already has the account information (including the credit card) would kids be able to complete this transaction without any problem? I don't know, but it's a scary proposition. Also, at least this app was titled as "Lite" so you were aware that the entire thing may not be available. However, many don't even say that so you get surprised mid-way through the book. It's disappointing. Apps like this, that students can use at school and at home, should be free (and whole) or not.

The interactive storybook app version of Who Stole the Moon? is playful and dreamy. More than just the book, the opening page shows the main character, Bertie Brown, holding four balloons, each with an option for the reader to select: read, games, about, songs. I appreciate this format, because while the games are fun, they can be a distraction to the story when they are embedded. With this format, the reader focuses on either reading the book, playing the games, learning about the book, or listening to the songs. When you select "read" the magical stories begins. The interactive features are left to the reader to discover and there are several in each page of the book. The format of the book includes the words of the story on one page followed by an illustration that has embedded animations. When the reader touches the screen on the pages with words, small stars appear on the screen. The animations in the illustrations are quickly discovered by the tapping reader--a spinning globe here or a light turing on there. These interactive elements add to the reader's experience and match perfectly with the mood of the story. The sound effects work seamlessly with the words, illustrations, and animations as well, adding to the reader's meaning making process. Because of the high quality illustrations and separate focuses for each experience the reader wants to have with the story (games, reading, etc.), this interactive picturebook app is an appropriate option for young readers or reluctant readers who would enjoy the specials features the mobile app has to offer. As a fantastic bonus, the book is translated into 18 different languages!

This was the most user-friendly and interactive e-book that I have encountered for kids. The paid version of the app comes with 8 songs, karaoke, as well as various modes and games to interact with the story. There is an iPad and an iPhone version, making it accessible to kids on the go as well. The story of Bertie, a child detective who tries to figure out the mystery of the missing moon, is fun and engaging, with the drawings digitized for the app to help "modernize" the look. This still works well with the concept of child-like wonder about the night sky. The paid version of the app is definitely worth it and it uses a multi-modal format to make kids want to re-read the story over and over again (and maybe get some of the catchy songs stuck in your head!)

Bulutların ayı saklıyor olmasını öğretmesi dışında neden okunmak istenileceği muğlak bir kitap. 4 yaş öncesi için bile vakit kaybı denebilir.
