Kept my wife and I company on our honeymoon around California. Great coverage of the famous spots you'll be bound to visit, and terrific suggestions for less obvious places to check out; after a trip to Hearst Castle, one of our favourite meals ended up being at a taqueria in Monterrey we'd never have found in a million years otherwise.

The potted histories of the main areas you visit are priceless in the context they give, and genuinely fascinating to boot.

Indispensable.
