I absolutely loved The Hurricane, so when I heard about this one, I couldn't wait to jump into this one. This book is a continuation of O'Connell and Em's story. I was a little unsure if I would end up liking it, but I am glad to say that I very much enjoyed it.

If you have read the previous book, then you know that Em had gone through some horrible things at the hands of her step father Frank. All Cormac O'Connell wants, is for them to move forward from that, especially now that Frank is behind bars. O'Connell wants to protect and care for Em until she feels safe and normal again. Staying by her side is proving to be a struggle for Cormac with his career on the rise. He is working hard towards a fight that could mean everything for his career. But keeping focus is hard when Em is struggling with the effects of Frank's trial and all he wants to do is be there for her.

Unlike the first book, this one is told completely in O'Connell's POV. I really loved learning more about him. His thoughts were very interesting because he is as alpha male as they come. He is one sexy beast and I only ended up falling in love with him all over again. I admired the depth of his love for Em, and the lengths he would go for her. I also really admired Em in this book. The strength of this girl was amazing. She has grown so much since the first book. I love that she has a support system in her life and how much she gives to those loved ones in return. Together, these two are so perfect and heart warming. They sexual tension between them was still very much present.

I don't want to give much of the plot away, but it was very good. I loved having the whole gang together again. I am really hoping Tommy, Liam, and Kier will be getting their own book soon. The banter between everyone was the best. The story line was great. There was some dramatic and emotional scenes that definitely kept things interesting. But there were also some sweet and funny scenes that kept things from getting too heavy. I enjoyed the pace of the story so it never felt like it dragged on and fight sequences were very well written. Overall, this second installment did not disappoint. If you enjoyed the first one, then you should definitely give this one a read.

Reread May 2017

I absolutely love Cormac and I love being in his head. His love for Emily is so amazing.

Reread September 2016

Another great reread. These two are one of my favorite couples. I just love being in Cormac's head. His love for Em is epic. I swear I'm swooning the whole time I'm reading. I know I wil reread these books over and over. And can I just say I really wish I had Kieran's book like yesterday?

***5+++ Stars***

When I finished The Hurricane, I immediately jumped to The Aftermath. I could not wait to read Cormac's POV and I absolutely loved it! Though Cormac and Em aren't together for some of the book like they were in The Hurricane, Cormac's thoughts were always on Em and how he continues to be a better person for her. I could just feel all the love he had for her. There was no unnecessary relationship drama etc to cause angst between the two either, just real life problems that were easily solved and made better quickly. It was perfect!

My biggest complaint was I wanted more! I think I could have read a 600 page novel about these two. I want to see them in the future with babies and living their lives.

THIS is the type of romance I like reading about. These two books are going to be some of my all-time favorites.

They are all about super-cute & super-sexy boxers.

I loved the love story, liked both MCs.

It was so sweet how deep they were in love and how devoted they were to each other!

The whole story with h’s stepfather, his trial, lack of justice, attack etc. was exaggerated.

100 pages fewer and much less drama would make this book almost perfect!

If you don’t love something enough to fight for it, you don’t really love it at all.

This is the second part of a series that follows the events and is a continuation of the Emily and Cormac story form The Hurricane.

About the plot:After hard times for those two at The Hurricane, Em's abusive stepfather is in prison, but expect the process. They are trying to return to normalcy. But it is not that simple. Although physically they are in health, all the wounds left in their heads. They must learn to cope with it. O'Connell hire a manager and preparing for a new fight for the championship. At the same time, Em must deal with the Frank's process. It awakens all the memories.

Two fights. His for the title, her for peace and justice. In front of them both is a tough time, but together they are determined to survive it all. The results will be surprising and unpredictable.

"I’m gonna be a legend, and when they ask me how I did it, I’m gonna tell them it was all you."

Final thoughts: Everything in this book is from Con's POV. This is what I missed in the first section, where we had only Em's POV, and I think that it came out perfectly. Not only it complements some missing pieces, but also brings much more because Con is a complex character. He is possessive, jealous and really needy. It was wonderful to be able to read it all through his eyes. My love for him only grown. If it is at all possible.

"I gave my heart away the day I first clapped eyes on Sunshine, and I never wanted it back. "

In The Aftermath guiding plot really kicks off near its half. There is a twist that makes the book no longer predictable. It was then when it getting up to speed and is very interesting and surprising. It was especially then, when I could not break away and with all my strength cheering for heroes. Despite the fact that their road is difficult and at times overwhelming, they have for each other even more love and all their romantic moments are beautiful and help them keep fighting.

Once again, a great group of friends, makes the book fantastic for me. Sometimes you would think that they are bunch of big kids. But its very funny and bring a lot to the story. Especially in these difficult moments they are irreplaceable support and always bring a smile.

“Seriously, ladies! How can you possibly think this could replace the real thing?”
“Do you think you could get yours to vibrate and change color?”
“For you Nik, I could make it stand at attention and dance to the national anthem.”

There is a lot of introduction to their own history, which will result in further parts of them. I can not say that I am not happy, because it is this "for good and bad" group of friends who became like family to each other, be one of the best parts of this book. I already can not wait to get to know their own stories.

"Life isn’t about settling for what you have and making the best of it. It’s about getting back up when everyone else around you is counting you out (...) "

"Do you know what it does to my hard-on when you laugh while making love?"

"What?" She asked curiously.

"Absolutely nothing. Now get your sexy arse over here and kiss my war wounds," I replied hauling her to me
Em and Cormac "The Hurricane" O'Connell's are such an adorable couple. He is OTT possessive, yet treats her with such gentle reverence, like she's the most precious thing in his entire life and he doesn't know how he got so lucky to have found her.

Wasn't sure how I'd feel diving back into this second story knowing what was going to happen. (Her abusive stepfather goes on trial). Yes, it was a lot of angst and heartache in this one, but the incredibly sweet, and tender relationship between this couple shown through all the drama.

There is a large chunk of this book where Em and Con remain celibate because he's in training. I appreciate how the author was able to keep the intensity between this couple, without sex, but with a deep intimacy and occasional ribbing.
"I'm pretty sure that no one has ever died from blue balls," she giggled.

"They have. It's just that the victims families are ashamed of it so they tell people it was a 'heart attack' or some shit like that."

"Well, if you do die of blue balls in the night, I promise to tell people the truth, maybe set up a blue ball support group," she joked.

"I can show you lots of ways to support my blue balls," I told her as a nibbled at the corner of her mouth. Working my way down her jaw, I buried my head into the crook of her neck and inhaled.
It almost felt like Em and Con had been together for 30 years, with the level of understanding and love they shared.

Besides the swoony couple, the bromance with all the men at the gym was excellent. I enjoyed the small side stories and really wish each one of these characters would have their own story.

This with n1 in the series was such a good read!

Might be biased but it gave me major Binding 13 vibes and I enjoyed it immensely.

The whole “you’re not like the other girls” thing was a bit too obvious for my taste and it got old real quick and I didn’t like her career and college were such a tiny issue in the book.

But I loved the boxing family, the irish accent and both MCs 🥰

I'm finding it hard to write a review for this one. Not really sure why as I did like the book. Not as much as the first but it was still a good book.

This follows Cormac “the Hurricane” O’Connell and his Sunshine pretty much from where their first book left off. If you haven't read The Hurricane do read it otherwise this one will not make much sense. I loved the The Hurricane mostly because of O'Connell. This one fell a little bit short for me mainly because I felt that the HFN in the first book was enough. For me The Aftermath was a long epilogue and it felt a bit drawn out in places. It was still a great book and I loved catching up with all of them and speculating about the next couple.

Con is still dealing with his feelings of guilt and rage from the events of the previous book (I wont spoiler). His career is finally headed on the right path while Em is still studying and trying to support him as well as getting over everything that happened to her. Unfortunately the bad guy from the previous book is still messing with Em and disrupting their lives. The book is in O’Connell’s POV except for the epilogue which is from Em's POV. We see how everything is affecting him and how he deals with it all. We have a few introspections and of course the touching love his has for his Sunshine.

I used to think that being a boxer and a fighter were the same thing. Now I know different. Being a boxer is what I did. Being a fighter is who I was.

I didn’t need her to fix me and all the fucked-up shit that followed me. I just needed her to love me and have faith in me while I fixed myself.

Definitely read it if you read the first one (and liked it) as it sets up two potential couples for the next books.

"...there's a story of an old Cherokee man who told his grandsons, 'There is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It's anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth'....
'which wolf wins?'...
'The one you feed.'
Makes you think, doesn't it?

Solid continuation of the story of a Hurricane...and yet I felt like I missed out on smth.
Cant put a finger to it either, so it's gonna stay unclear until further notice or a sudden flash in my mind...LOL

Loved it. The Aftermath is told completely from O'Connell's POV. I love the relationship between O'Connell and Em. They would have to be one of my favorite couples. This book had it heartbreaking moments when dealing with trial and trying to move on from the past but I loved the strength O'Connell and Em showed through the hard times. Highly recommend.

DNF - NO RATING

Although I loved the first book in this series, The Hurricane , almost half way through this book I realized that it wasn't doing anything for me. After going back to work from my maternity leave I have even less time then before for reading so every minute it's to precious to waste with books that aren't for me.

I'm not saying this book isn't good because R.J. Prescott has an amazing writing style and I can't wait to read others books by her...but this book wasn't my cup of tea...

Oh my God "Hurricane" is back finally!!!

"Because she's mine. She's always been mine and I will
love her till the day I die. There is no one else for me
and there never will be."

I've been waiting for this book so long that I devoured it in one day and half!In "The Aftermath" we have our sweet couple Con&Emily who are still great together, more mature and of course they are still crazy crazy for each other....

"Happy birthday,baby."
"Best birthday ever."
"How do you know? You've only woken up."
"Because it's the first birthday I've ever woken up with you!"

This book begins after a while of Em's accident with her stepfather who is in jail and wait for a trial! Their life is much better now with him in jail they don't have to be afraid all the time! But Con is afraid that the same thing will happen and he won't be able to save his sunshine again and that eats me alive! He is very insecure and can't consatrate for his training to be a professional fighter and he doesn't share his conserns with Emily!Everyone around them try to help them with everything they can! They are a great family in the gym and the guys are the greatest friends you can ask for!Danny tries to help Con by hiring a manager to help with his career and makes him talk about his insecurites with Father Partick.

"I'm having such an amazing night."
"Me too,baby."
"You know O'Connell, you've been talking to my boobs all night."
"I know sunshine,but we're married now.It means I'm legally entitled
to stare at your tits eveytime you wear something hot and not
get punished for it."
"I don't recall that being in the small print of our marriage certificate
but I'll take your word for it."

Their love life in this book is of the charts...

They had some Hot shower sex too....

I was possessive, bossy and probably annoying most of the time
but in bed she owned me.Who was I kidding?
She was the love of my life. She always fucking owned me.

But of course something bad will happen to test their love again! While Con is training for his big fight in a couple of months at the same time is the trial so he can't be with Em and that fucks with his head...The worst part is that .
(What the F*CK???)
That changes everything because.

Con is kind of like this ready for a round with him...
description

In the end everyone get what they deserve...
Con win his fight in Las Vegas and Em is right there beside him to give him the courage and love he needs...because he is needy like that!!!
description
description

After the winning they celebrate as a team...And after that as a couple who hadn't had sex in months because it was forbidden for the fighting....

I liked how this story ended for everyone...In this book we see how true love can be and how it wins in the end!I liked the guys because they werefunny true friends with a capital "F" for Con&Emily!

Loved this one. I just love this couple and how strong their love is. I love how much the hero LOVED. Some things I was so upset with because he just did not think and acted like a man who did not understand a woman, but with everything else - I know he loved with all his heart.

I read this book because the first book, The Hurricane is promising. But the sequel is a tad disappointment.

The character development is off and the story is losing its focus. Cormac, who is sweet and romantic alpha male, is now developing into sissy male who is so needy and emotional. He feels like he needs to proves he owns Emily by throwing tantrum to any male who touch Emily. This is a let down since I like Cormac on the first book.

And Emily, she is still portrays as old lady character. Her dialog is very shallow and not engaging. She is suppose to be math genius but to me, she is a grandma. Hopeless, clingy and 1 dimensional character.

Despite the lack of proper character development, I like this book OK.

5 Massive Left Hooks

When I flicked on my Kindle Friday night at 10pm I didn't expect to find an ARC of The Aftermath waiting for me, naturally I ditched the book I was originally reading (sorry but priorities, I thought I'd have to wait until December) and my evening began.

I don't want to give anything away as those readers that have to wait until release date, it's worth the wait. To read RJ's writing style you'd never guess this was only her 2nd novel. The Aftermath sucks you in from the prologue, it's dark, it's funny, it's romantic, it has everything. These books for me not only tell you the story between O'Connell and Em but you feel like you know Kier, Tommy, Liam, (new boy) Heath and my favourite Danny just as much, I love the way their inividuality shines through on every page, there are few little unexpected surprises which make them even more loveable. The Hurricane is one of my must read choices for 2015 BUT The Aftermath just stole the show, I loved every single written word.

Thank you RJ for introducing these cheeky, hot headed, loveable rogues into my life, a very worth 5 stars!!!! I can't wait now for Kieran's story.... sitting here tapping my foot patiently

"Losing was done when you listened to your head winning was done when you listened to your heart."

I'm so happy I picked up this series to read. I really enjoyed this story of Con and Emily and mostly, because it's not so much about their coming together, but basically it was mostly each on their journey and cross they had to bare, separately but also together. Em had the whole burden with her past, Frank and family and trust issues. Hurricane had the family issues, but mostly his fight and earn title process and that's what I loved more about this book. That it was focused there and it was true to its material and purpose. You want a sport romance with boxers, fights and that's what you get.

"I've always been proud of you. Title or no title, that ain't gonna change."

And let me say one more time how much I loved the relationship between the boys and Danny. Like I could read scenes with them for hours and not get bored one bit. Give me all the bromance, man, I'm eating it up! I really can't wait to read more by this author.

Same shit, different POV.

Only reason I caved and read this was so I could find out more about Liam's situation and Kieran getting to know his HEA, which covered only a whopping 4 pages, give or take. 😑 Because of that I pretty much skimmed 70% of this story, including the epilogue which I didn't even bother reading. Something I rarely do unless I plan to DNF a book. And yet even with all the skimming I ended up being fine even with all the jumping around I did. Which should say enough. This kept dragging things out that didn't need to be dragged out. I thought something would hold my interest enough to just plow through the whole thing but no I kept running into the same problems I had in the first book. Overall problem: The writing is not that good. And I say this while giving credit to R.J. Prescott's hand at humor. Cormac and his friends are hilarious and goofy. The Irish humor is fun. That being said, this book was riddled with mistakes. Typos are everywhere (I stopped counting after #10), quotation marks are missing, transition breaks are missing. You have no clue it's the next day because there is no paragraph break, things just bleed together like it's all one scene. Which is confusing AF. The number of times this happens gives you serious whiplash.

The author has no problem doing paragraph breaks between dialogue or dramatic pauses between chapters when it's part of the same freaking scene but other times when it's literally the next freaking day you get no warning of it so everything is just stringed together. The whole book is coming from the hero's POV and yet you are lost as shit in some places when he's summarizing what happened a day? a week? before and suddenly the scenario he is telling you about is playing out in real time and it never shifts back to present time. Confused? Well so was I. Hence all my skipping. If it's meant to be a flashback then present it as a flashback, it's not supposed to bleed and blend in with the dialogue. The writing isn't framed or structured well and dialogue kept bouncing between present tense and past tense and back again. And *important* details are sometimes oddly left out. I'm still trying to understand what was the whole point of that supposedly "romantic" bubble bath scene? The hero and heroine are in their bathroom with the hero helping set a bath for the heroine, the water is running while the heroine is undressing but for some reason they stand there and aimlessly talk and kiss instead then she puts her PJ's back on and they walk out and go to bed to snuggle.

*crickets* Um.......ok. Ya'll going to leave the water running in the tub or what? It's as if the author isn't even aware or forgets what she's doing in her own scenes. The writing seemed like it was one long stream of consciousness which made things--even the "exciting" climactic moments--come off boring as hell. Hell, I don't think I even read one sex scene here, I skipped over all of those. Which is unheard of for me. 😅 I never skip those! lol

And why it took the author 2 damn books to finally tell us how old the hero is (at the 70% mark) is beyond me. I will never understand why important details like that are hoarded and given to readers so late in the game. And PS: Why is the cover model a ginger? Yes Cormac is Irish but he's not a ginger. So that very deliberate design choice confused me for days every time I opened my kindle.

So yeah, boring and nothing new all around. I do want to give Kieran's story a go (because apparently I am that kind of masochist) but I'm not hoping for a miracle here.

I gave my heart away the day I first clapped eyes on sunshine, and I never wanted it back.
I loved, loved, loved "The Hurricane." It's one of my top reads from this year, so I was extremely excited to jump back into Cormac and Emily's world. I was eager to catch up with the loved up couple but I was also apprehensive about what lay ahead. I knew that things could easily go in the wrong direction as Cormac and Emily's worst nightmares were just around the corner but tried to remain optimistic that this gorgeous couple would get their well deserved HEA.
What kind of man am I to be chasing my dream instead of protecting my wife? What kind of man has titles but can't protect his own family?

Where the first book in the series was all about Cormac and Emily's relationship, this sequel was focused mainly on Cormac as he fought his way to success both in and out of the ring. He desperately wanted to achieve a fairytale ending for his sunshine. As soon as I started reading this book, I was instantly reminded of how delicious Cormac O'Connell was and I found myself willingly handing him my heart yet again. That beautiful fighter is my kind of sexy... fierce, strong, protective and so damn hot!
I wanted to brand myself so deeply into her soul that my name would be the first and last on her lips, forever.

I loved that R.J Prescott gave me the opportunity to discover more about Cormac. I enjoyed getting to know more about his past and also how everything that was happening in the present time was affecting Cormac. This first part of the book opened my eyes to how vulnerable Cormac was truly feeling. He came across as a big, tough boxer but deep down he was full of self doubt. I also loved the journey that Cormac travelled during this story and I was so happy to see how everything turned out for him. By the last page, Cormac had used his experiences to become a better man and it was a joy to see. Another thing that I discovered about this book was that I was given more of a chance to see Cormac with Tommy, Liam and the rest of the gang. I loved seeing how close the boys all were and how special their bond was. The jokey banter between the group made me smile and I am already excited to see if this author plans more books centred around these entertaining characters.
We had the fire and the drive to win, to succeed. I wasn't alone in this. We were brothers, and we were bringing it to the fucking table.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this sequel to Cormac and Emily's beautiful story. I adore this couple and loved being able to see what their future held. Cormac and Emily made such a cute couple and I loved every single scene that involved the pair. R.J Prescott has delivered another fantastic read with brilliantly written fight scenes, nail biting drama and swoonworthy romance. I absolutly love a good fighter romance and this series is one of my favourites. I highly recommend adding Cormac and Emily's story to your TBR's.

"The Aftermath" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.

After absolutely loving The Hurricane I was so looking forward to The Aftermath and it didn't disappoint. Whilst the intensity that was The Hurricane wasn't there, this was a fabulous follow on of Em and Con's story and answered all the questions left after finishing The Hurricane.

I loved their relationship - not only with each other but with the rest of the gym crew. The lads didn't disappoint, there were some golden priceless moments and one liners. Tommy, Tommy, Tommy - I can't WAIT for your book lad. That said, I can't wait for them all to get their books.

Another thing I loved is that the author didn't go down the route and add unnecessary drama to the mix, Em and Con had more than enough to deal with, and I also love how the author made them work for it.

Loved it!

Spoilers ahead

This continues after the events of book 1

1) The trial - Emily's stepfather is charged with raping her as a teen and also kidnapping and assaulting her which he did in the last book. As he was an ex cop and had crooked buddies the case took a turn for the first, with the testimony of Emily's mother in favor of her husband he was acquitted. I don't have words to describe how much I hated Emily's mother, she let this man rape her daughter and lied on his behalf in the court!!! She didn't get enough punishment to suit me at all.

2) The relationship - the way O'Connell loved Em is my definition of a bbf, he was possessive, protective, devoted and beautifully in love. I want to marry him and have his babies that's how much I swooned over him

3) Emily- she was a different woman to book 1, I finally saw the backbone that I was hoping for. She'd grown a lot and flourished under O'Connell's love. This was brutal to read because of what Emily had been through especially after her mother's betrayal but hearing from Frank how obsessed he was with her just sent me over, I cried a lot for and with Emily and I loved seeing her get her happy ending

4)The bromance - the relationship between O'Connell and his boys was at times funny but a lot of the times it was the sweetest thing I've read in a long time, I loved them all together but especially him with Kier. His relationship and interactions with Danny brought me to tears. They'd all really came a long way and deserved their victory

5) The boxing - there's a lot about O'Connell's training and his fights here, I loved every single moment of it. I'm not as big of a boxing fan as I am a basketball fan but I love it as well so I gobbled up the daily details and when the mc said "let's get ready to rumbleee" I felt like I had a front row seat to the fight

This book honestly wrecked me, my eyes are swollen, my face is on fire and I'm up way past my bedtime but it was all worth it. I loved this book from beginning to the very last page!

*****If rape is a trigger this and the previous book may not be for you

The Aftermath (The Hurricane #2) by RJ Prescott
4 stars!!!

“Bruises fade, torn skin scabs and heals but hate festers.”

This book follows on from where the Hurricane left off and while the Hurricane centred around Cormac and Emily’s blossoming relationship this book concentrates more on Cormac and his battles inside and outside the ring.

“…but we had each other. We had the fire and the drive to win, to succeed. I wasn’t alone in his. We were brothers, and we were bringing it to the fucking table.”

I loved the dynamic with this series and these Irish guys have really melted a lot of hearts, especially mine. These guys really were a bunch of misfits but together they are family and there is nothing stronger than the bond and allegiance to one another than what they share. For them, they come as a package, you take one on, you take them all on and that is a mighty frightening experience.

“You made me a mixtape. Does that mean we’re going steady?”

I loved that this book gave us more of the guys as a group, how they bantered with one another, the pivotal roles they each played, the loyalty, the admiration and that great sense of camaraderie that only men that knew each other inside out could have. Danny had me in stitches in this book, he may remind me of the old guy in Rocky, but the one liners that come out his mouth were classic and brought some light hearted laughs to my reading experience. Even Father Pat had the same effect, everyone needs a priest like him fighting in their corner.

Starting to read this book The Hurricane came flooding back and in particular just how cute Cormac and Emily were as a couple, in fact these two were cuteness personified. There is something about seeing a grown man, a strong fighter, being reduced to a soft hearted teddy bear when in the presence of his wife and that is exactly how Cormac was around Emily. Cormac worshipped the ground she walked on, as did the guys too. Emily has had a tough life and it still is not over as you find out in this book, but she never lets it define her, she is strong when needed.

“There is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth.”

“…which wolf wins?”

“…the one you feed.”

The dynamic that these two have as a couple is something to behold and RJ Prescott really brought this couple to life once again. The adoration and chemistry is palpable and I loved the determination in Cormac to be the man that he thought Emily deserved. He really matures in this book thinking more with his head than his fists, a sure sign of Emily’s influence.

“If anything happened to her, he might as well stick a knife in my motherfucking black heart. I was done.”

I loved the fight scenes in this book and the angst of the trial really gets those pages turning. Emily’s dad is still not finished; will he ever leave this couple alone? I have totally loved this series, perfectly balanced with wit and drama and a huge dose of chemistry and passion. There was nothing not to like.

“This was my tribute to the woman who’d changed my life. To the woman who’d changed me.”

Okay. I finished the book but it took me a while because for me it sometimes felt like slow going. It wasn't the kind of book I could just keep reading. I put it down several time and had to make myself pick it back up to finish.

Now the book wasn't bad so but it didn't hold my attention. I think the first book was good and it focused on the H/h getting together and her dealing with moving forward from her past so to me it was more about the romance. This book to me was a little less about the romance and more in my opinion about O'Connell growing up and his making a name for himself in boxing and having future income, and also helping Em deal with the issues that are still arising with Frank and how he and her have to learn to cope while being focused on their future.

It felt more like a coming of age story. I mean it did talk about how he feels about Em very much but it mostly showed that how he used to deal with things don't work as an adult with adult responsibilities. He is now having to deal with things without his fist. He is having to learn to fight bad things in life in a different way. Which also mirror his changes in how he learns to fight to be a champion boxer and not just a guy who can box.

The stuff with Frank was for me just too much sometimes. It felt like they went on and on about him. I also didn't like how his plotline played out. Some stuff I just couldn't believe. I felt it was done to prolong the drama for the story.

You also have things changing with the friends in this book as a setup for their books in the future. Everyone is finally growing up and dealing with things in a way they aren't use to.

One thing I can commend on is that it is a mature NA. They have immature moments but again they are seeing things in a different way and dealing with things in a different way than they use to which is great. Lots of NA don't always work for me because I either can't connect to the characters or I find them extremely annoying or very immature.

I think the story is more emotional as well and if I was going on how well done it was I would give it a 4 but for me I can only give it a 3 since even as it was a well done book my enjoyment of was just not there.

You know when you read a book and you fall in love with the characters and you get so scared that when the sequel comes out said characters are going to do something that completely changes the way you feel about them? Well that was me when I started reading The Aftermath. I mean, I loved The Hurricane, fell totally head over heals in love with Em and O'Connell and I was so worried that something would happen, mainly something that Con would do, that would ruin it for me... Luckily, that did not happen!

If you've read The Hurricane then you know that O'Connell was 100% in love with his wife and that mans feelings did not waver one bit. He's possessive, protective, jealous, loving, and everything I was expecting him to be and I fell even more in love with him than I already was.

And Em... That girl is so strong and she proved it time and time again in The Aftermath. She had a lot going on, and I mean A LOT, but she didn't let that stop Con from following his dreams and honestly I think I love her almost as much as I love him!

That being said, there were a couple times when I felt that this book dragged a bit and I almost feel like maybe it should have been a follow up novella instead of a full length novel but I was just happy to be back with Em, O'Connell, and the gang again that I couldn't help but love this book... And of course I'm desperately waiting for all the guys to get their HEA.

I loved reading about Con and Em. Con gets his chance at a the World Heavyweight title, but Em is going through the harassment of her stepfather even though he is in jail awaiting trial. I would love to read more about the other boxers from Danny's gym.
