I should have checked here first before buying. the Amazon reviews were great, but the book itself was a disappointment. I did get the benefit of confirming that my idea of eating healthy can very much fit into a dash diet with the only major modification being the salt content, easy enough (for me) for most dishes.
Skim over (or skip) the recipes. Ignore the personal testimony. Not much is left. I got this hoping to learn about the DASH Diet. What I learned is that this book isn't the way to do that.
Good start for DASH written in a voice that says "you can do this!" The intro did start abruptly. I wondered if I had missed some pages. Some of the chapters were so short, I wondered why they were set off by themselves. I did appreciate, though, that the author provided references to find the info. (Most ebook authors I've read so far don't bother.)
I liked that the author "gave permission" for readers to take their time to incorporate the plan. It's not "all or nothing" immediately! Can't wait to try out the recipes!
I purchased this book last month, and my husband and I have been enjoying the scrumptious and healthy recipes. He likes the Apple Spiced Oatmeal, No Bake Breakfast Granola Bars, Spinach Feta Mushroom Scramble, and the Pear Turkey Cheese Sandwich recipes. I personally like the Banana Nut Pancakes, Peanut Buttern Banana Shake, and Pita Pizza recipes. We both love the Potato Nachos and the Milk Chocolate Pudding. So delish!
