Book 3 in the Lords of Mayhem series.

After surviving an ordeal with a sadistic man who was using her to destroy the Lords of Mayhem, Evonne realizes that her quiet, ordered life is no guarantee of safety. The Lords insist on protecting her and assign the job to a macho biker known for his womanizing. Her friends disapprove, but she’s sick of being a good girl, and hot sex with a bad boy is just what she needs.

Rocky’s concerned that guarding a prim accountant will seriously cramp his style—until he discovers the wild woman hiding beneath those conservative suits. He has never met a firecracker like Evonne, who’s smart and ferociously sexy. He’s surprised to find he enjoys her company and even more shocked to find himself falling in love.

I liked Yvonne and could identify with aspects of her personality but those weak moments of screaming, tantrums, and throwing things like a little kid made me want to slap the black off of her(I sound like my mama right now). Luckily, the irritating portions of didn't drag on for too long. Rocky was likable and while some of the things he said were irritating (lord please don't let a man ever call me "Mama", not hot), I did appreciate his blunt and honest manner.

Lots of errors that felt like typos as opposed to poor grasp of English, not that I am one to judge but it matters to some.

I would recommend the series and I will finish the series.

Too Many Avoidable Flaws

Shyla Colt is a wonderful storyteller, but three books in, it’s clear she’s a terrible writer. This is book 3 in the series and her continuity has gone off the rails, familiar characters are harsh and unlikable, and the editing and grammar are so terrible it makes you wonder how anyone could have read her books at the early stages and let all of the mistakes slide. It’s a disservice to Ms Colt’s storytelling abilities.
As far as Rocky and Evonne as a pairing, they are great. However, there is too much missing or poorly written as far as their back stories go, and there’s a little too much happening in the story which takes away from the time Ms Colt needs to really flesh out their relationship.
I’m nervous about the final book, with Hilary becoming so horrible and the reader barely knowing Hawk. I fear there will be too strong an emphasis on explaining away her attitude to get to know how these two really come together, plus grammar and continuity making the books difficult to read, but might as well finish now.
I wanted IR MC romance and Ms Colt provides that in a very straightforward and non-fetishized way, but her books should not have such obvious errors that make it easy to dismiss her as a writer.

Enjoyable

Wow talk about drama, chemistry and passion its all packed in this one exciting and captivating story. A book that certainly is a must read and it will have you turning the pages to see what is happens next with these two. This is one book that you may want to have tall glass of your favorite and look out for the man of the hour. I really enjoyed these characters they are so amazing and great together. When you add in the family drama along with tons of emotions. The relationship has loads of action and romance that works. This story is truly delightful and amazing experience it's exciting and suspenseful full of action with so much romance! Even the secondary characters are great. There is one thing I wish for and that is for more because I hate for a awesome story to end. But overall this is well worth it. I Highly Recommend Reading it.This is a great story that I know I will read more than once!

Live Free is another winner for me in the Lords of Mayhem Series. Rocky and Evonne both have issues from their past that deeply affects the way they deal with everyday life and especially how they view relationships. The two of them have found a kindred spirit in each other, but is enough to build a future on?
I loved the pairing of Evonne and Rocky. At first they definitely rubbed each other the wrong way , but that seemed to be what they needed to wake up and start seeing what they had been missing out on by not letting go of the past. I wish the story delved a little more in Rocky's background but all in all, I really enjoyed their story and I give it 4 stars ✨.

Rocky and the Firecracker

This book was interesting and definitely kept me engaged. However I did notice quite a few editing errors throughout the book.
Evonne had to go into hiding and be protected by the MC because of her sadistic ex. Much to his disappointment Rocky was ordered to stick to her at all times. Even though it was stereotypical and would happen eventually I was a bit surprised and disappointed that Rocky and Evonne had sex immediately. There was no build up.
This book had tons of drama, danger, surprises, anger, attitude, and HOT sex. Great plot and dialogue kept me engaged. Good read

I've read this book several times! I still love this series with the awesome group of friends (Juliette, Joey, Evonne, and Hillary) and the Bikers they fall in love with in the series. This book brings us Rocky and Evonne's story. I absolutely loved the pairing of these two characters. Rocky and Evonne are both broken in different ways. Yet, they learn to not only adapt to the situation they're dealt with; but they thrive and build a relationship. The characters from the other books are back as well such as Shooter/Juliette and Moose/Joey. I loved the interaction of the club and then the hunt for Levi. Fantastic story!!

Live free

Evonne and Rocky met under not so stellar circumstances, he was dubbed the bachelor who was never interested in settling down. His childhood was shitty to say the least raise by a single doped up mother , he was not certain he wanted to invest in true love. Or volunerabiliy. Then there's Evonne raised in a two parent family home but never had the love or support from her family. The she had an ex lover, stalker that she needed protection from that is how her and Rocky got into their situation. He proved that though their situation didn't start out in the conventional way he would still kill anybody for her even her family. I would recommend this read.

He played it fast and loose with biker bunnies because they knew what they were in for. They didn’t give a damn about commitment, rings or children. They wanted to be involved with a brother in any way they could swing it. It seemed distasteful, but what man turned down free trim after long periods on the road? The hook-ups didn’t mean shit. He’d be damned if any of the club mamas made him feel like being shackled with the ball and chain.
Tem alguma coisa mais machista que isso?
E pior, essa é realmente a visão da autora e das leitoras. As "bikers bunnies" são as verdeiras vilãs desses livros, piores que as prostitutas pq nossa, que crime transar pq quer

Another Gem

Ms Colt once again brings love to life in a different way. No perfect package and roses. Rocky and Firecracker are so right for each other. Even with the mess that was her family and Levi, love found its home. All of the friendships and crap talk among the MC was what really makes a family. I look forward to reading more about this untraditional family.

Which way?

Evone was fooled by a pretty face and ended up with a beautiful soul. Levi was part of Strant's crew, cruel and sadistic. But Rocco pulled her from the brink of insanty. Evone led him a merry dance, one step at a time. This is an adult only book, but with a happily ever after.

Totally Good!

The writer gives bus a well rounded story and pushes us further into the life of Mayhem. We get two people who's chemistry is off the charts and it shows in the writing. The story moves at a pace that's steady and is so engaging. This was not only good writing it was solid.

It could be so much greater

If she had an editor. I started with her other works and there were very few misspellings, improperly used words and grammatical errors.

She has good story lines and decent character development that keep you hooked in the series.

Awesome Story!

Firecracker and Rocky are thrown together under difficult circumstances. However, spending time under lock-down helps them realize that they are two halves of the same coin.

This is the third installation of the Lords of Mayhem and boy what a ride Shayla took us on with this one. We find Evonne still dealing with the horror of knowing the man she was falling in love with was just using her and hell bent on getting revenge. Plus she has a very serious family situation that finally hits the fan. Once there is an attempt on her life she is put under Mayhem's protection and Rocky is the one put in charge of keeping her safe. Rocky "Rocco" is known as a womanizer and he doesn't have time to protect her plus practice for his fights, but when the family needs you to do something you do it. Rocky also has his personal problems he's dealing with, but with Firecracker around he's starting to feel things he hadn't felt before. We watch both of these characters battle through their personal problems and attractions and it was a nice story.

Wow

This was not my favorite book in the Mayhem series. It was way too dark for me. I don't think Evonne's emotional abuse was dealt with in the right manner. Good "peen" cannot fix the type of abuse she endure for decades. She really needed professional help. What she did to the villain was not an option to me. It was completely over the top and unexpected. And again the particular sex act that the H performs on the h every time that requires him to "suck or lick" the juices from his fingers is do look redundant at this point. And with each Mayhem book that comes out do we have to have a description of how each h lady juices taste?! Sorry it just gets old real fast. Aside from the little annoyances that I found, it was a good read just kind of a downer. And Evonne's family? A HOT MESS!

Wow this was an excellent story, I could not put the book down!

I literally finished reading this story in one whole day, the characters were familiar to me from reading Lords of Mayhem books 1&2 which I highly recommend you will not be disappointed.
The stories intertwine and give you a good understanding of how life within a Motorcycle Club (MC) would be and believe me you will not want to put these books down. I'm eagerly awaiting the next story about Hillary, so I'm hoping Shyla Colt will not disappoint and take too long to deliver!

Rocky always has words of wisdom to share, “no, baby, I’m a man with a mission… There’s a difference. Think essentials only. Not things we can get somewhere else or you won’t actually use. You feel me?” He's always willing to offer his services, “well, if you ever need a joystick…mine’s just down the hall and available.” He grinned wickedly." I love the men of this series they act all rough and tough but they're complete putty when it comes to their women.

Fun Read

This is definitely not the strongest in the series, but it's a fun read. I'm not gonna lie, the over abundance of similes and metaphors started driving me crazy, but the characters are really cool and extremely likable. I don't think this is a stand alone. I'd strongly suggest you read books 1 and 2. Am I waiting on Hillary's story? You bet. PS, Evonne is a bad ass. I like that.

Worth the price

This was good from beginning to the end. The heroine has a threat hanging over her head so she has to stay with the Lord's of mayhem with Rocky as her bodyguard. His name is Rock, he's Italian and he's a fighter. There is sex, secrets and murder. You won't be disappointed
