The first part of RISE, a three-part series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon.
When Tess Marlow comes face-to-face with a handsome pilot she has no idea that he's already had a very personal glimpse into her past. She's stunned when he approaches her while she's working as an event planner at a lingerie show. She brushes him off, but is pushing him away, what she actually wants?
Landon Beckett can't get a woman from a flight he piloted out of his mind. She's been haunting his thoughts since she grabbed hold of him thirty thousand feet in the air. When he sees her again, he's determined to return something that belongs to her.
She wants to start her life over. He wants to forget a day that changed his life forever. Together they find something in each other they never realized they needed.
When they finally decide to only see each other, Tess steps into a secret world that changes everything between them. Can they rise above the demons that Landon holds close or will his past alter the course of both of their lives in ways neither ever imagined?
Note: This ends in a cliffhanger. Parts Two and Three will be released within the next few weeks.
Deborah Bladon has never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She's a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you can often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan is definitely her second home.
She cherishes her family and believes that each day is a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
Wow! What a fantastic first part to this series. Loving the relationship between Tess and Landon.
Deborah Bladon's male characters are so alpha, but I feel that although Tess is young, she is confident and is in control of her destiny - a fine quality in a woman.
Cannot wait for the next part, due to the epic cliff hanger.
"He has the soul of a gentleman wrapped in a body made to f*ck a woman senseless."
Tess and Landon have secrets but they are very good together. There is something going on and I am quite sure it will come out in the next two books of this series. Can't wait to see this story unravel. The story is fast moving which I love. Thumbs up.
Not sure how to describe this book. I guess I feel that things are rushed and all over the place. Almost like this was thrown together quickly. Some authors always feel they need a mystery or drama when what they really need is a well written realistic story.
Love Deborah bladon! I have read every book she has published an am on her email list to get an alert for when she puts another out, I read them immediately!
So far I'm really enjoying Tess and Landon. This first part is really just laying the ground work for the rest of the series, but you do get a lot of the background on each of them and how they connect with other past characters for this universe.
Tess Marlow, is Ivy Marlow's cousin. Landon Beckett is Dane Beckett's older brother. Each of them have secrets that can change things/their lives if they were to be made public. I can't wait to see how these secrets play out in part two and three. Deborah is the master of weaving a web and balancing overarching story lines, and she doesn't disappoint this time around.
This story will expand on Dane's story as well, so I recommend that you read the Ember series first. I recommend all of Deborah Bladon's books/series, but they can all be read as a standalone. But I do think that this series might be more enjoyable if you knew more of the players from past books that are directly connected to the H/h of RISE. So EMBER(Dane's younger brother),and GONE(Lilly/Clive, their story is mentioned but not delved into, but I think it would help you understand them better) are the two from this first part that I think would be most beneficial for readers of RISE. So if you have time between now and part two's release go and pick up the GONE Series(which is first chronologically) and the EMBER Series. It would just round out the world a little more for you.
With these reviews it's hard not to spoil the plot twists, so I'll keep this simple. Read this series. It's starting off great and if you're a fan of Ms. Bladon's work you don't want to miss it. Also I think it's funny as hell that Gabriel Foster's mother is a sneaky sneaky woman, who plays a slight matchmaker for this couple. I hope she pops up in Gabriel's story latter.
Although page numbers were not so much Deborah made it adorable.. From the beginning of story to end of book you wonder what is happening in there... Characters interesting and dialogues are unigue and with every turn of events it makes story mysterious.. ı was always curious and surprised page after page..
Tess and Landon's meeting was really cute and amazing ah when a woman is a little bit desperate and tipsy you can not know what will come out of her beautiful mouth about sexy pilot like finding her pilot sexy and want touch him. Moreover you could say all this dirty mind of you to old lady who is becomes the mother of this hot pilot's best friend.. Ahh. I laughed so much ..they were really adorable and cute. I want to devour and nestle them in my cest !
if you searching someting short and so beautiful just give this one a try. You will ilke it and want to read id again :)
Tess Marlow is ready for a fresh start. She went to Milan to put an end to her past and give herself a chance of a new future. She's fully invested in her event planning business and is sure she can make it strive. Planning a major event for wealthy Lingerie businessman Gabriel Foster gives her a major shot at success. It's there she is approached by a very handsome and very determined Landon Beckett. Capitan Landon Beckett can't believe his eyes. The woman that captured him midair on his flight from Milan to the U.S. works for his friend. He's wanted to see her again and will use any excuse to do so. Landon isn't used to being turned down, but more than that he see something special in Tess that he is not ready to let go. When their attraction wins over, Tess and Landon find their connection is greater than they expected. But secrets and fears from the past make for strong ghosts and baggage that they are not ready for. The first installment of Rise is sexy, suspenseful and ends with an unexpected twist. As usual Deborah Bladon sets the stage for a steamy and thrilling romance.
Love Before You Go, with the the visits into old characters and the start of something new for these two new characters. Tess is working hard to reach her professional goals and has is finished looking back. She is not seeking anything with any male, however the world is a small place after all and she finds herself face to face the pilot of her last trip and more surprisingly he is a good friend of her current client. More shocking is the knowledge the friendly passenger next to her was Gabriel's mother. Has she shared their conversations? Steamy, and calmly surprising Tess gets surprised again.
One star off because I hate series that end like this one did. I don't mind series that maybe introduce a character that the next book will feature. Anyway, that being said, I liked this book with likable characters. I'm vague still about Ansel but he's going to come into it some how I'm sure. I like this strong young business woman who knows she's young but works very hard and is very talented. I like books to have strong female leads. Well, I'm going to boo hoo until the next in the series... I may forget and lose momentum, Deborah!!! Hurry fast.
Off to a fabulous start. Tess is determined to succeed at a career that she loves. Landon is a pilot who wants to know Tess on an intimate level. When these two finally get together the outside world seems to disappear. Until past secrets start surfacing. What is Landon hiding on his phone? Is Tess over her past boyfriend? Will secrets tear this new relationship apart or will they both ignore the obvious tension when questions arise. Excellent writing. A must read.
Thank you Amazon for the notification about this book at 3:00am. Started reading immediately. Took me forever to get into the book. Re-read it again. Figured it out. This is so unlike Deborah Bladon's other books. Now that I know the gist of the story I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I'm a huge fan of Deborah Bladon and I've read everything she has written. As soon as something is released I have to have it! Rise is like everything else....hot and steamy and the characters so lovable and of course a jaw dropping ending that makes you want to scream until you get your hands on the next installment!
Wow, awesome Landon is cool, calm, seductive, and Tess, uninterested, business oriented, not wanting to be distracted, he is so suave, sly, sexy, she doesn't know what hit her, lol. They are awesome together, great group together in book, what an ending to keep you waiting till bk. 2, Deborah, awesome job!
I get wrapped up in the characters because they are so intriguing and entwined....the sex parts are wonderful of course but it is the love stories that keep u coming back for more. Having men stay manly while deeply loving and respecting their mates is heartening!!!
Tests is trying to get her fledgling business of the ground. She's determined to make it work. Landon is the man Tess literary fell into while on a flight home. Between the two of them they both have secrets, one of theirs secrets is a game changer for all involved. The author has once again given the reader a book that leaves you wanting more.
Well I always wait with bated breathe when am approaching the end of Deborah's books because I have no clue what to expect in the cliff-hangers. However, I did not expect this ending at all. Where is she going with this I have no clue but I cannot wait to know what is revealed. Am really liking the chemistry between Tess and Landon also looking forward to part 2.
Wow is all I can say about that ending!!! Why would Landon lie about his father???? Tess is confused now. Wasn't he supposed to be dead? Can't wait for the next book to come out to hear his answer......interesting. Will Tess stay or run? And what happens when Ansil comes to town! Lots of twists and turns!!!
Well this was a pretty interesting book. It was also kind of sad at first. I wonder what Tess has gotten herself into, or if Landon is just a big lier. I'm ready for the next book to read what Landon has to say for himself. Great read. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
I hate cliffhangers... Usually!!! But I have every book by our Deborah Bladon and I am never I mean NEVER disappointed. Rise is just another reason Ian addicted to these sexy suspenseful dramas she just keeps giving us. Landon Beckett is sexy and passionate with some deep secrets. Can wait to unravel them and him!!
Talk about cliffhangers. I guess you gotta love them, ok maybe not love them but they are a necessary evil. Deborah you are the queen. your writing keeps getting better and better if possible. I am totally loving this new series keep up the good work. I can't wait for the next book.......
I loved it! I was so expecting Landon to be caught with another woman - that's what usually happens, right? I didn't see this coming! I won't spoil it for you......read for yourself! Now how long do I have to wait for the 2nd book? Hurry, please!!!
It was way too short. It was really just beginning and it ended. I really don't like the series book. It's like buying and reading it by chapter. I will get the next one because I want to know what happens between them.
So I'm a huge fan of Bladons series. She gets me hooked with relating her new characters to the old one. Then she sinks me with the twists and turns of her new story line. I take the late each time, and love it. I can't wait for the next one hurry up!
I chose this rating because once you really get into t h e book you can't seem to put it down. It took me awhile to get into it or a couple of chapters but then I was hooked.
I love these 3 part series from Deborah Bladon. I love how all of the characters are connected, yet each series can be read alone. Tess and Landon pulled me in from the beginning. I can't wait for part 2!
Not real impressed so far...Deborah's gonna have to kick it up a notch for this series to even be in the same league as her others...hope she pulls it together with the next two installments.
