ARABELLA'S ERROR

Beautiful Arabella Darnley had had a moment of weakness--and feared she would pay for it forever. She had wed handsome Sir Richard Barton only to discover too late how dreadful life with him was.

But now Richard was dead, the loser in a duel, and Arabella was free at last. She told herself that never again would she yield to the folly of her feelings and sacrifice herself on the marriage altar.

But when the imperious Earl of Warrington set out to strip away her defenses in a perfectly plotted campaign of conquest, Arabella found that the perilous power of love was just as great the second time around....

"The Colonel's Campaign"
By Irene Saunders (1990)
This story is about a spoiled young girl, Arabella Danley, who demanded a season even though her father had already made arrangements for her to be married.
On the way to London she was manipulated into eloping with Sir Richard Barton which turned out to be a terrible mistake as he wanted her only for her dowry. He was a gambler and cheated to win which caused him to be killed in a duel.
The man she was originally to marry, the Earl of Warrington, still loved her so after the funeral he decided to win her back. How does he go about it?

This book is a true 3.5 star. It held together for almost the entire book and fell apart while she was describing a situation that led to the entire plot. She did not come off well in her description. Other than that, it had the correct language, history, and environment. Unfortunately, she had no humor in her book. To be a true five star it must have humor.
