The untamed Louisiana bayou is not for the faint of heart. But until now, Tara LeBlanc has always considered it a sanctuary, its lush foliage a source of medicinal healing. What evil has infi ltrated her haven? Two elderly women she loves lie near death, and Tara knows their illnesses are no accident.
Only one man can save Tara from the same Sheriff Rene "Bubba" Theriot. The strong-willed lawman throws his all into protecting her, laying his heart on the line as well as his life. Now they both stand to lose it all as a killer gets ready to pounce….
“I love boxing. I love Hallmark movies. I love fishing. I love scrapbooking. Nope, I've never fit into the boxes people have wanted to put me in.” ~Robin Caroll is definitely a contradiction, but one that beckons you to get to know her better.
Robin’s passion has always been to tell stories to entertain others and come alongside them on their faith journey—aspects Robin weaves into each of her published novels.
Best-selling author of more than twenty-seven novels, ROBIN CAROLL writes Southern stories of mystery and suspense, with a hint of romance to entertain readers. Her books have been recognized in several awards, including the Carol Award, HOLT Medallion, Daphne du Maurier, RT Reviewer’s Choice Award, and more.
When she isn’t writing, Robin spends quality time with her husband of twenty-eight-plus years, her three beautiful daughters and two handsome grandsons, and their character-filled pets at home.
Robin serves the writing community as Executive/Conference Director for ACFW.
The other entries in this miniseries are preferable to this one, primarily because of the heroine, Tara LeBlanc, being such a self-centered, arrogant idiot.
Tara angers two pharmaceutical reps who come to her land looking for flowers and plants to be synthesized into potentially life-saving drugs. She also gives a voodoo potion to her grandmother and to another older woman, Tanty, in hopes of curing them from their illnesses. This is after she has been told to stay away and let the police handle the matter.
She repeatedly puts herself and others in mortal danger simply because she feels she has to, or she wants to. How anyone could find this an attractive quality in another person is beyond me. I was cheering when her love interest, Sheriff Rene Theriot, finally calls her out on her behavior and she then goes to a chapel and cries.
The only interesting facet of this book is how God changes a person's heart. We're reminded of the Ephesians who burned all their occult books after hearing and receiving the word of God from the apostle Paul; here, Tara's relatives have abandoned their voodoo religion and practices and accepted Christianity. How Tara comes to Christianity is a little too easy.
Like all of the previous books in this series, Caroll manages to keep the pace of both the mystery and the romance moving along up until the very end of the book. Although voodoo plays a prominent part in this storyline, the amazing work of the Holy Spirit triumphs over all.
I enjoy the way Caroll intertwines her characters' thought process with what actually comes out of their mouths. I also like how she is not afraid to let her characters march forward into life full of unresolved feelings and inner conflicts. Real people are messy. Life is messy. Robin Caroll shows us through her characters that it's OK to be real, let go, and let God work out our storylines.
I am reading this complete series and so for I love all the books - This one has a Christian Sheriff who finds himself falling in love with a young lady who hopes to be a voodoo priestess - along with mystery - romance - Christian faith and voodoo makes for interesting reading.
This was another Intriguing mystery. I Loved the storyline with the interesting characters. This book is recommended for those who love Christian romantic suspense.
This is a very enjoyable novel set in the fascinating Louisiana Bayou. Interesting characters, good plot, plenty of suspense, romance and excellent ending. I loved this book and have already downloaded the next in the series.
Really good…..but I have questions about something in the book🙃, hopefully the next book answers it. Can’t say what it is because it could be a spoiler 🤭.
Tara was a difficult character to like and up until the last few pages she was not very nice and was into voodoo. In real life, I would tell the other person to slow their roll. Brand new Christian. May need to grow up spiritually a little before marriage? This one was a clunker to me :( here's to a better book 5!
I really loved this book because it's such a good, quick read ,despite the fact that two people are at death's door, but the only thing that bothered me was that Tara's family kept trying to convert her to Christianity.
Bayou Paradox is the fourth book in the Bayou Series. This book features the baby sister, Tara as the heroine and Sheriff Bubba as the hero. I really enjoyed the story and loved the happily ever. I highly recommend this book.
