Rate this book
A man who always gets what he wants.

Chicago sports agent, Cyrus Fletcher is giving the full court press to an NBA rookie to sign with his agency by gifting him a weekend jaunt in Las Vegas. But the rookie wants to make it a couple’s weekend and Fletch needs a date. Fletch has had his eye on a particular woman, but he hasn’t found the right way to approach her until she cold calls his office looking for work. Fletch devises a plan that will net him the rookie, a rewarding weekend with the sexiest redhead he’s ever seen, and a huge signing bonus.

A woman who makes a splash in the boardroom or the bedroom.

Tricia is the Master of Many Trades, but her public relations business is tanking. If Tricia doesn’t hook a big-time client soon, not only will she be evicted from her office building, she’s going to lose every penny she’s already invested. When Fletch makes her an offer to pose as his ‘date’ for the weekend, she can’t refuse the money. Tricia’s only problem is, Fletch doesn’t believe she’s in PR, he thinks she’s a master of the oldest profession, but Tricia is savvy enough to seize the opportunity to save her company without giving ‘it’ up.

Sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t end in Vegas.

Windy City writer Elizabeth Marx brings cosmopolitan flair to her fiction, which is a blend of romance and fast-paced Chicago living with a sprinkle of magical realism. In her past incarnation she was an interior designer--not a decorator--which basically means she has a piece of paper to prove that she knows how to match and measure things and can miraculously make mundane pieces of furniture appear to be masterpieces. Elizabeth says being an interior designer is one part shrink, one part marriage counselor and one part artist, skills eerily similar to those employed in writing.
Elizabeth grew up in Illinois and has also lived in Texas and Florida. If she’s not pounding her head against the wall trying to get the words just right, you can find her at a softball field out in the boonies or sitting in the bleachers by a basketball court. Elizabeth resides with her husband, girls, and two cats who’ve spelled everyone into believing they’re really dogs.
Elizabeth has traveled extensively, but still says there’s no town like Chi-Town.

"Sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t end in Vegas."

"What I can’t figure out is why you came along?"
"I needed the money, 'cause there is no other way a woman in her right mind would deal with your arrogant ass for seventy two hours."
Those of you who have read Binding Arbitration probably remember Cyrus Fletcher, intelligent, sexy, loaded and overconfident Aidan's agent. Fletch is about to sign a contract with NBA's best rookie Casey. They are to meet in Vegas, Casey is bringing his girlfriend, so Fletch needs a date too. Since he is a player and has no actual girlfriend, it's a good thing Tricia needs money, arrangement is done and they go together. He thinks she is high paid hooker, she thinks he is a player..... You can expect nothing but some fun stuff after.
"Keep the woman who's smart enough not to argue with you because she knows she's already won."
If you have read Binding Arbitration, you should also read this one, because it was funny, hot little number, super nice and short addition to the story. And I just love Elizabeth Marx's writing style. And if you haven't read Aidan's story yet, I strongly advise you do, because it is still one of the best books I have ever read!

This is a great short about the sexy and very confident Cyrus Fletcher and Tricia, a smart and beautiful marketing publicist who go on a whirlwind trip to Vegas.

Fletcher is a sports agent and lawyer who is desperate to sign the next best thing in the NBA. Seeing as he needs a date to woo his potential client, he approaches Tricia and they come to an understanding, contract and all, about what the weekend will entail.

He pretends he thinks she's a high-class call girl and she pretends he's not the arse who drives her up a wall. Together they manage to have some wild fun, tame a witty yet cantankerous chaperone and perhaps even fall for each other.

A great funny yet touching read that certainly has me wanting more. Since this is my first taste of Ms. Marx's work, I am confident I will love Binding Arbitration, the full-length novel where Fletcher was first introduced.

Okay, I knew how this would end but the journey was truly entertaining. Cocky male, independent female, Las Vegas, and a contract. I laughed, I smirked, and I would have traded spots in a heartbeat. An absolutely adorable novella.
