As for walking away before she falls hard—it’s already too late...

Dirty Eleven practically raised Cole, and he plans to double-cross the cops rather than sell the club out. But smart, sexy Mia is an irresistible distraction. While she’s evaluating his mind, all he can think about is her body...until he discovers her true intentions. Walking a fine line between desire and betrayal, they’ll have to outrun her past, his enemies and the law for a love that’s dangerously real.

Rating clarification
4 stars for the first half
2 stars for the second half

Without boring you with a synopsis, I will get right to the chase of the matter.

I liked the premise and Riding Dirty started off great. The interaction between Mia and Cole was engaging and definitely to my liking. Also, the way the plot unfolded was riveting at first but, since I’ve seen some mixed reviews, I’m sorry to say that I agree with other readers who said the story tanked after a very promising beginning. During the second half the gratuitous sex overshadowed everything and, quite frankly, couldn’t hold my interest and all the sex only managed to bore me to tears. Around the 80 % mark (the WTF moment), I was mentally done with the story and close to yet another DNF. Though I soldiered on because I was so close to the finish line.

I really liked Cole’s direct approach, how he dealt with feeling attracted to his psychologist and, of course, I really enjoyed his dirty talk. He wasn’t a harmless good Samaritan by any means, yet there was quite obviously something good in him. Plus, he felt a protective urge towards women which always helps me to bond with a male character. Despite his anger management issues and his violent and choleric streak, he was willing to change for the better and that made him more likable, more interesting. Mia, on the other hand, stayed somewhat bland; I didn’t really connect with her character and, to be honest, I didn't particularly like her either.

I have nothing against in this story didn’t do anything for me. At all. It was unerotic and lame. My (almost) obligatory WTF moment occurred at 80 %. I couldn’t believe how The whole situation was unbelievable and, ultimately, very awkward. Oh, yes, let’s add some All the wetness etc. made me roll my eyes. Besides, I’m not sure how I should feel about an assault victim who goes from 0 to 100 within a short span of time and is so incredibly horny and eager to have sex, let alone try out her somewhat kinky fantasies at any given moment. Give me a break, please. She’d been celibate and living withdrawn for the past three years and suffering from various hang-ups and panic attacks. Moreover, she’d still been mourning the death of her husband. I didn’t really buy her uninhibited behavior. In my book, the author managed to ruin the rather carefully developed plot of the first half during the second half of Riding Dirty by throwing in redundant sex scenes that pushed the mystery in the background. Come to think of it, the dialogue and dirty talk in the second half left quite a bit to be desired as well.

Bottom line, I’ve read and enjoyed Jill Sorenson’s work in the past, especially Aftershock, and even though Riding Dirty wasn’t a winner for me, I will be giving her another chance in the future.

Best things happen when you don't expect anything special. I've been in a weird reading funk last few days, I couldn't find a book that would hold my attention so when I picked Riding Dirty, I already lost all hope that I would get back my reading mojo.

What did I get?
Bikers, strong female character, revenge, bad boys, a little bit less bad boys and super hot love story.

description

Fans of biker romances and suspense novels will be happy with what Jill Sorenson managed to pull off in her upcoming release. First novel in Dirty Eleven MC series combines the best of both genres. It might not be as brutal and dark as Undeniable series by Madeline Sheehan or melodramatic as Reaper's Property by Joanna Wylde, but I believe it will appeal to fans of both authors.

description

Hotness on scale from 1 to 10? Damn hot 100! Mia and Cole first won my heart because they are over thirty years old. But second reason is most definitely their chemistry. There is a one scene that I am still thinking about, you will know when you read it. Trust me. Want a clue? Hotel room. I don't think my ovaries can take more of that kind of torture.

description

Who should read this book? If you don't like a fact that you are watching the last season of Sons of Anarchy. If you love your heroes with a little bit of darkness.

This book is perfect if you're a Biker Bitch (like yours truly) in search of a new and hot MC novel.

description

This was the fist novel I've read by this author and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the good quality of her writing and the kickass story.

description

Meanwhile it's not really my style to go into the story line I have to warn you that this book contains a M/F/F sex scene so if this kind of thing puts you off then maybe this is not the book for you.

For me it was strangely arousing because usually I stay away from this kind of scenarios (I much more prefer the M/F/M ones :P) but in this case it was pretty hot and (if we must go into details) there was no actual intercourse between the main male character and the other woman because that was one thing I would not have been able to swallow. But as it was I found myself really getting into this whole threesome thing and I may or may not have reached for my vibrator :P

4 Hot as hell Stars

I love MC books, they are my guilty pleasure. However, a lot of MC books either try too hard and go too gritty or are so soft they are laughable. Riding Dirty is a perfect medium. This book has a real story and while it involves the MC it doesn’t revolve around the MC. It has more of a mystery/suspense vibe to it.

Mia and her husband were the victims of a home invasion. Her husband was murdered and while she survived the perpetrators believe they killed her, too. Years later she has been relocated by WITSEC and is working as a forensic psychologist.

Shank has just been released from Chino under the condition he work as an informant for the FBI. Part of his conditions is he meets with a forensic psychologist, Mia.

Mia has her own plans for Shank. She wants to seduce Shank, so that he will help her get revenge on her husband’s murderers, a rival MC. Needless to say things don’t go according to plan when she finds herself lusting for the rough, sexy as hell biker.

These two together is smoking hot. Mia has never been able to explore her fantasies and Shank wants to do that for her. This book involves voyeurism, f/f/m, and other very, very light bdsm - since Shank is such a helpful guy.

While their connection starts off as purely sexual, it eventually leads to more. I found this to be refreshing, this wasn't a case of insta-love, it was insta-lust - which I totally get.

I am not sure how to compare this to other MC books, because we don’t ever actually see the clubhouse or have much interaction with other bikers like most MC books do. This story revolves around two different MC’s: Shanks and the one who is suspected of the home invasion that resulted in Mia’s husband’s death. Just a heads up for someone looking for the typical MC book.

I highly recommend this one, if you are looking for a quick, sexy, suspenseful read. The story moves very quickly, and I found myself completely into the story. I will definitely read more from this series.

This isn't the kind of book that I read very often but every once in a while this is exactly the kind of book that I feel like reading. I mean if you are in the mood for a sexy book about a bad motorcycle club member, look no further. This was a very sexy book that dove a little deeper into real feelings and a mystery that kept me guessing.

Cole was the highlight of this book for me. Cole makes no excuses for who he is and what he has done. He is straightforward and usually says exactly what he is thinking. He may be a bad boy but he is a bad boy with a lot of honor. This bad boy treats Mia as if she were a treasure. I always love a story with a bad boy who is really good under all of his layers.

"You look like you're having a bad day. Let's combine your bad day and my bad idea, and be bad together."

Mia has been through hell and back. She is determined to make the people who hurt her pay and will go to great lengths to make it happen. She does not expect to actually feel something for Cole. That was never a part of her plan. I didn't like Mia nearly as much as I liked Cole. The fact that she was Cole's psychologist really bothered me. There are certain lines that should never be crossed and I think that this is one of them. That being said, I shoved my moral problem with the situation aside and just went with the story. Mia seemed to really learn a lot about herself during the course of this story.

I did like Mia and Cole as a couple once I decided to ignore the fact that she was his psychologist. As people, they really did work together despite the fact that they were so different on the surface. They both seemed to gain something from each other and were stronger together than apart and there was a lot of chemistry between the pair. The sexy times were hot and there were enough of those sexy scenes to keep the spice up the book while maintaining some focus on the underlying mystery to be solved.

I really liked the way this book was written. The characters were nicely developed. The balance of the mystery and the sexy times was handled very well. I never felt this this was just a collection of loosely connected sex scenes which I have felt in other erotic stories. Each scene really moved the story along and helped to develop the characters.

I would recommend this to fans of erotic romance who like a little bit of bad boy in their story. This is the first book by Jill Sorenson that I have read but I plan to read more in the future. I would definitely continue with this series.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Carina Press for the purpose of providing an honest review.

WOW! This book was exhilarating, it had my pulse pounding and my panties drenched!

This story is about a Mia, whose husband was murdered and she was also attacked that dreadful night, but she was smart and played dead in order to survive. It’s now a few years later, and she has been in WITSEC, but everyone thinks she's dead and buried. She has new life with a different name and has changed her appearance. She is now working as a psychologist for woman in jail, but she has a new client and his name is Cole “Shank” Shepherd. She was put on this case to help the DA investigator get information to help him bring down some of the motorcycle clubs key players in the area. Mia knows that Cole is a part of a motorcycle club that is rivals with motorcycle club that she suspects killed her husband. She also knows that Cole went to prison because he took revenge on a rival club member who raped his cousin. She also knows he has a soft heart where woman are concerned, so she plans on seducing him in hopes that he will fall for her and kill her husband’s murderer. All these years Mia has felt dead inside and figured she would never have any more romantic feelings towards another man. When Mia meets Cole for the first time, she is surprised by her physical reaction to him. She knows it's wrong, but she just can’t help herself.

Cole has been paroled from prison early with the understanding that he will be a criminal informant for the DA investigator. They are after his uncle, who is president of one the motorcycle clubs in the area. They want Cole to get information on his uncle to help bring him down. If Cole does not turn in the information the DA wants, it’s back to prison for him. Cole is out, but he doesn't have the freedom he craves. He has an ankle monitor on and he has to report two times a week to the DA investigator, afterwards he has a session with Mia as his psychologist.

As the meetings continue, Mia can’t believe how attracted she is to Cole. He is everything she should not want, he’s an outlaw. A motorcycle club member, he has tattoos all over, and has a bad temper which leads him into trouble. Despite that Mia finds him so sexy that she starts fantasizing about having sex with him.

Mia is everything that Cole wants, but knows he can not have. She’s smart, sexy and way to classy for him, but he can tell that she is interested in him, so he decides to go for it.

The story line was FANTASTIC and with each turn of the page I was more and more invested in the story and characters. There were so many twists and turns along the way as Mia struggles with the knowledge that she is falling in love with Cole, knowing that they can never be together, and in the end she will end up in pain. But pain to Mia is much better than feeling nothing at all.

As Cole and Mia get closer, the sex scenes get dirtier. Mia wants it hard and rough and Cole is all too willing to give her just that. Some of these scenes just about tipped over my heat level rating and let me tell you, that’s not an easy thing to do. Just a warning, this book is VERY EROTIC, so if you like your books SCORCHING, this is the read for you.

Near the end there was plenty of action and I was riveted to the pages as Mia and Cole had to run for their lives. I just had to know how they were going to get out of the mess that they had gotten into. I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the book and it had my pulse pounding.

The ending was everything I hoped it would be. I finished the book and let out a breath and thought...WOW, what an AMAZING read!

I can’t even describe how good Riding Dirty was. The story was well done and had a realistic feel to it. The only complaint I have is that we have to wait until September 2015 for the next book in this series. This will be a must read book for me. JILL SORENSON PLEASE WRITE FASTER, I want it NOW!

I’ve read and enjoyed many Jill Sorenson books, but I think Riding Dirty is by far her best book. Maybe because it’s dark and gritty and the sex is ramped up – one of my favorite combinations. Oh! And the hero has served multiple sentences in prison. Excuse me while I swoon. (seriously, I love a prison hero)

Cole is a member of the Dirty Eleven motorcycle club. His uncle is the president, and after growing up quite poor and watching his parents turn to drugs, he craves the family aspect of the club, even if they aren’t always warm and loving. While the Dirty Eleven have strict rules about treating women well, they aren’t saints. They dabble in drugs and are quite violent. Their rival club is called White Lightening and there has been bad blood between them for a long time. Cole has landed himself in prison twice, both times he fully accepted the blame, but he was assaulting and starting fires aimed towards bad men and on the instruction of his uncle.

Now Cole is recently out of prison, but he isn’t quite free. Besides the ankle bracelet he has to wear, he got out because he promised to be an informant to the police against his uncle. Due to being targeted in prison, this was his only option. His contact is a dirty detective named Vargas. Vargas’s sole mission in life is to bring down criminal motorcycle club members. He will use any tactic, legal or not to get this done. So let’s just say his treatment of Cole isn’t necessarily morally correct.

On to our heroine – years ago, two masked men invaded her home, murdered her husband and seriously injured Mia Richards. Faking her death, Mia goes into witness protection. Having only seen her attackers eyes and some tattoos on their wrist, she slowly gathers the facts and thinks they come from the White Lightening motorcycle club. Working as a psychologist, Vargas recruits her to become Cole’s therapist/life coach. Mia plan is to seduce Cole, and then convince him to go after the men that killed her husband (since they belong to his rival MC). Mia didn’t count on the fact that she would have such strong feelings towards Cole though.

Quote 100

There are so many things I enjoyed about this story. The romance and suspense are nicely balanced. The suspense is violent and gritty and the intensity of it matches the strong romance. While at times it felt like Mia is the only pure and innocent character in the book and she may have looked down upon others, overall I came to like her. The innocent girl falls for the thug isn’t new in romance books, but what I liked here is that Mia is sexually forward. At first she is conflicted, having not been with anyone since her husband’s death and feeling professionally guilty for starting something with her client…

He must have been able to read the desire in her eyes, because he gripped her upper arms and leaned closer. Before he touched his mouth to hers, she braced her palms on his chest and turned her head to the side.

“No,” she said, breaking free from his grasp. Pulse racing, she pointed at the chair. “Go over there,”

He flinched at the order, reluctant to comply. After a short hesitation, he strode away from her and sat back down with the same surly expression he’d worn earlier. The same insouciant sprawl. Only now he had a huge erection.

She forced herself not to examine his body with hungry interest. Good thing she hadn’t invited him to jackhammer her against the wall. That equipment wasn’t quickie material. She approached her desk and poured two cups of water with shaking hands, spilling some. Bringing the cups, she returned to her set.

he downed his in three gulps. “I need a refill to pour on my dick.”

But once she realizes just how much she likes Cole, she fights for him and doesn’t back down.

Cole has had a hard life, and doesn’t make excuses for his behavior. He has a very quick temper which he has a very hard time controlling. He is rough and has jealousy issues. He doesn’t always trust easily. Oh – and he is super hot in bed. What? I enjoyed that. *wink*

“Cole–”

“Just give me one session between your legs,” he said, leaning in closer. His breath fanned the side of her neck. “I’ll keep my cut on. You can come with my leather under your fingertips, and forget about theirs.”

The sex in this book is very dirty. There is even a very well don M/F/F scene that added even more smoking hot sex to this book.

The action never lets up and the romance just gets stronger as the book goes on. Let me also note, this is definitely a motorcycle club book, but we don’t see a ton of action inside the club. There is also a supporting character named Ace, (his book is next) who has me quite intrigued.

Riding Dirty was a little different from the motorcycle club romance stories I’ve read in the past. It had more of a mystery/danger/conspiracy vibe to it, definitely a more serious edge, but I really enjoyed it.

Mia has been numb for the past three years since her husband’s murder in a home invasion attack. An attack she almost didn’t survive herself. Retribution and revenge is the only thing that’s kept her going since then. As a forensic psychologist the perfect opportunity for that revenge has landed in her lap in the form of Cole, a member of the rival motorcycle club that killed her husband. If she can seduce and manipulate Cole, she’ll have the perfect weapon to maneuver and execute judgment. Mia doesn’t count on being attracted to Cole or seeing the man behind the motorcycle gang. After realizing the danger and harm she’d put Cole in, Mia puts her plans on the back burner.

Against his will and better judgment, Cole has signed on as an informant against his uncle, the leader of Dirty Eleven Motorcycle Club in order to be released early from prison. He had to strike the deal to get out or risk leaving prison in a pine box. As part of the deal, he must undergo mandatory psyche evaluations with the young and gorgeous, Mia. There’s a chemistry and pull between them, but Cole never expects Mia to act on it. As part of his deal Cole must dig up information on his uncle and while doing that he unearths disturbing evidence that involves Mia. Can he trust her after these revelations and if he can, can they remain safe? Do they have a future?

I was a little worried that the revenge plot would take up the story and I’d be on pins and needles wondering when Mia’s deceptions would come out. I had nothing to worry about because Mia was more forthcoming that I expected and her priorities shifted quickly after meeting Cole. Having plans to use someone to carry out revenge is all well-and-good in theory or if you have no heart, but once the reality set in, Mia couldn’t do it. Both Cole and Mia were multi-layered characters with the capacity for good and bad which made them realistic and relateable.

Their romance was electrified and sensual. With Cole being a “bad guy” Mia felt a little more comfortable to let some of her darker fantasies come out making their encounters wild and passionate. But at the heart of their relationship was the emotional connection they shared. They talked about deeper issues than a couple just newly dating would, because of Mia’s position as his psychologist, something that was sort of an abuse of the situation, but Cole didn’t seem to mind, and Mia bared her soul to him as well.

As Mia and Cole become more entwined the danger from Cole informant status and from Mia’s history keep ramping up, culminating in a thrilling and suspenseful conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed the exciting ride and loved the way it all worked out!

I’ve read Jill Sorenson is working on the second book in the series now focusing on Ace and Janelle. Can’t wait!

A pretty good book that could have been even better if there had been less sex and more of a plot. That being said, Cole and Mia did have great chemistry and the sex scenes were scorching! I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and hoping it will be Ace's story.

Not sure what to make of this book. The writing was good and the story had plenty of detail (which I like), and the sex scenes were pretty darn hot, but...I'm finding out that I'm not really a big fan of MC books. I guess I like my heroes to be on the right side of the law (most of the time!), and the hero in this book was an ex-con (although he was trying to better himself and live a more productive life). And the heroine? She was a professional woman (psychologist?) from a privileged background and initially wanted to use the hero to seek revenge against her husband's killers. There were times when I thought she was out of her ever-lovin' mind and acted so out of character, lol. I get it that she was 'numb' from the tragedy in her life and the hero made her feel alive, but I didn't truly believe in their love. Lust, most definitely...but love? Nah.

Still I wanted to finish the book because I've enjoyed this author's other books, but this one was just ok for me. Maybe because I found the whole storyline a bit depressing? A lukewarm 3 1/2 stars

* Warning: this book contains explicit sex and language, and a drunken girl on girl scene that develops into girl/girl/guy threeway. Not for the faint of heart.

Filing this book under 'romantic suspense' does it, I think, a great disservice. If it is suspense you want with your romance then 'Riding Dirty' is not for you. Nor is it an MC romance (thank ye, gods!), although MC culture forms the hero's world. It is an erotic romance of overcoming enormous odds and as such it is not half as bad, and it certainly deserves higher ratings than it got. It has a very interesting and convincing (for who he is supposed to be) hero for whom I was rooting all the way, and it has a heroine who, while not as impressively drawn as the hero, is not as annoying as most romance novel female characters are now.

What I liked about this book, apart from the wicked and frequent sex scenes, was the nice characterisation and the various layers of feelings informing the plot. I was pleasantly surprised by how well Sorenson wove a wealth of feelings in a book full of sex and dirty talk, a great achievement in this genre where writers usually split the two and end up failing both. Sorenson is a skilful writer, good with both characterisation and plot, and she has penned here a nice little story with a lot going on, without ever bombarding the reader with inane statements that show one thing and claim the opposite. Nor does she parade the future heroes of future books in the series. One can tell that Vargas and Ace will get their own books (at least I hope so) but their appearance here is well justified and it lasts as long as the story needs it to last. I also liked the moral complexities of this book, the total lack of idiotic reader-approved moralising (instead the writer chooses to follow the 'truth' of her characters) and the fact that the villains are banal rather than cartoonish (although not less evil). There is one particular villain who, for a host of reasons, gets away with murder. I admired the fact Sorenson went with the story rather than an editor's guidelines and showed that if you want a HEA in a book full of violent characters and crimes then you've got to pay a price for it. This puts her above any other writer (and reader) who wants cheap HEAs.

'Riding Dirty' succeeds in its other aspects too, in the very interesting sketching of the hero's childhood and the dynamics between him and his (dysfunctional) family, between him and his friend Ace, between him and the memory of his brother. There's also a delicious threesome scene (which I did not expect to find in a Harley, or at least not one penned by Sorenson). The scene is done very well, both the build up to and the actual close up of it are nicely handled (and full marks for having a F/F/M, instead of the usual M/F/M menage) and woven into the plot without much ado or the usual voyeuristic coyness (worry not, both H and h agree that this was the only time they invited someone into their intimacies). The woman joining the main couple makes a brief appearance, but the writer manages to draw her well and make her likeable in the space of few pages. Overall, this is a well written and histrionics free story of lovers overcoming enormous odds to be together, with a good enough heroine and an even better hero. Recommended to fans of this theme and to those who like their romances both soulful and explicit. Not recommended to those who like romances to fall on the insipid and unchallenging side.

RIDING DIRTY INDEED!!!!!!!
So this is Sorenson's first Erotic Suspense novel and she nailed it. Good god this book was scorching hot. I am surprised my phone didn't light on fire. I could not put it down, and I added to my must read again list!

Again as I usually find with characters Sorenson creates I really enjoyed Cole and Mia. He is intelligent rugged and so sexy. (I am serious when I say the sex is hot hot hot!) And well I just love how Mia changed after she met Cole. She began to move forward and embrace who she had become post disaster. I highly recommend this book. If you are a Sorenson fan you will not be disappointed and if you have never read her books, you are missing out! Can't wait for more Dirty Eleven. Or anything else your dirty mind can come up with Jill :) Keep em coming!!!!!

5 "Explore Your Wild Side with a Hot MC Biker" Stars!

Although no stranger to action romances, this is Jill Sorenson's first foray into the MC world, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a shot as I'm a huge fan of MC romances and the book blurb sounded intriguing. Boy, am I glad I did! Wow, was this a hot read! Moreover, the suspense surrounding the mystery of the heroine's past, and the intricacies of MC life as they relate to the hero, who is a member of the Dirty Eleven MC, provide a good well-developed plot to complete the package.

Psychologist Mia Richards is just a shell of the woman that she used to be. Three years ago, her world was turned on its axis, when her husband was killed in a home invasion robbery gone bad. She came home in the middle of the robbery and was nearly raped, beaten and left for dead. As law enforcement suspected that a MC was responsible for the crimes, they staged her death and she was placed in the witness protection program for her own safety.

She has moved on professionally, now a forensic psychologist, but remains emotionally numb. The only thought that provides her any happiness these days is her desire to seek revenge against her husband's killers. Then, to her extreme delight, she is handed the perfect tool to carry out her retribution plan when Cole "Shank" Shepherd, a tattooed, bad boy, Dirty Eleven MC member, is placed in her care.

Her job is to serve as his counselor while he completes his mission to serve as an informant against his MC. In exchange for his cooperation, he is paroled early from his prison sentence. Of course, Cole, who is a loyal man, would never normally agree to these terms. However, given that the Aryan Brotherhood, a powerful prison gang, has already made an attempt on his life for his refusal to assist them, he is left with no choice. But he knows he's a dead man either way, and can't determine who he should betray.

Mia's plan is to seduce Cole and then manipulate him into agreeing to kill the men responsible for killing her husband, who she believes are rival MC members. What Mia never counted on was genuinely liking Cole, and being deeply attracted to him. Cole, in turn, makes no secret of his desire to bed her. In fact, he wants that and more. Convinced that he no longer wants to lead a lonely life, and feeling a connection to Mia that he has never felt before, he makes no secret of his desire for true intimacy with her.

But can two people from such different walks of life ever truly find a HEA? Will their respective social circles ever allow such an unconventional love affair to endure? As each person's past is slowly revealed, the obstacles become more daunting. Moreover, Cole must still determine whether to double cross the police or his MC. Will he survive that decision? …

All in all, Riding Dirty was a hot, sexy romance which kept me engrossed from page 1. The erotic nature of this read was off the charts, and caught me somewhat off guard as I wasn't expecting some of the wilder scenes. In that regard, please note that this book contains a number of scenes where the heroine explores some pretty unconventional, wild fantasies, including one involving a ménage scene. So if this is not your cup of tea, you may want to skip this one. In that regard, I will say, that although this is not the type of erotica that I typically read, and I was initially skeptical, I was pleasantly surprised by how Ms. Sorenson built it into the plot and how she used it to further the romance.

I can't wait for the next installment in the Dirty Eleven series!

Cole “Shank” Sheppard has just been released from his second stint in prison. He wasn’t released for good behavior, he was released on one condition, he had to become an informant and gather evidence against his uncle. His uncle Wild Bill also happens to be the president of the Dirty Eleven MC. Cole doesn’t really want to be a rat, but there is a price on his head in prison, so what choice does he have. Part of his release agreement includes seeing a psychologist twice a week.
Mia Richards isn’t her real name. It’s her alias now that she is in WITSEC (Witness Security Program). She’s been assigned to be Cole’s psychologist and she couldn’t be happier. She plans to finally get revenge on the people who caused her to be in Witness Protection. Little does she know that Cole will save her, just not in the way she had hoped.
“She said she wasn’t happy and he believed her. He’d do anything to change that for her.”
I am a HUGE MC lover so I was very excited to see this book and I’m so glad I read it. Cole is my kind of guy. He’s muscular, tattooed and a bad boy with a sweet side. The story line is good and not something I have read before. I found myself wondering who really were the good guys and who really were the bad guys. There are moments of “eeek, what’s going to happen next” and extremely hot and steamy moments. I would love to see another book about Ace Ms. Sorenson, hint hint hint! I give this book 5 stars with 4.5 hands down the pants.

I really liked this one, although it's not my favorite MC romance book. The sex was super dirty, and there were a lot of fun, hot moments. :) I'm super excited for more in the series, especially Ace. Sorenson also brings an awesome mystery/suspense subplot, like usual. But this book is definitely darker and more gritty than her normal stuff.

Most of the reviews were right. This one started off pretty strong, then I'm not sure what was happening at the end. I really enjoy Jill Sorenson's books so I'll give #2 a try.

Cole Shepherd has been released from prison after making a deal to become an informant against his Motorcycle Club, Dirty Eleven and his uncle, their leader. Cole is also forced to ork with an ass of an investigator who insists he take counseling with Mia. Mia has her own agenda, wanting to use Cole to help find the men who robbed her home years ago, killing her husband and nearly killing her. She’s currently presumed dead and put into Witness Protection, but she still longs for justice for the man she loved. The suspects are members of Dirty Eleven’s rival motorcycle club so Mia wants to use Cole to get information and proof about the men so she can put that chapter of her life to rest.

I felt for Cole. He hated being locked up, not that he didn’t do things to deserve it. Oh no no no, this guy’s no saint. He broke the law, in fact, one more strike and he’ll be locked up for good. He’s between a rock and hard place right now. If he goes back to prison, a gang on the inside will kill him. If he remains an informant, he’s not 100% sure he’s not being set up and used by the lead investigator who’s out for his own agenda. What Cole really didn’t expect was to fall for Mia, his counselor.

Mia soon abandons her plan to use Cole when it’s clear that that’s really all he’s used to, being used and not being wanted for anything else. His dreams are pretty simple, find intimacy with someone, not just sex, but having that one person who loves him, someone he can come home to, and someone that makes him want to walk the straight (and legal) path for a change. He thinks he’s found it with Mia, but with her past barreling down on them both, plus the informant tag hanging over Cole’s head, there’s a lot in play for not only their relationship working for the long term, but for them both to come out of this alive.

I had mixed feelings about this story. On the one hand, I really liked Cole and seeing him struggle to do what’s right, do what he “felt” was right, and to try and figure out the correct people to trust. This guy, he’s rough around the edges, a little bit dirty, a lot naughty and he wants to be all that with Mia, and Mia wants it too. She’s not the woman she used to be and with Cole, she opens herself up to new experiences, usually related to sex. That’s where the story lost me a bit.

Sex-wise, I started thinking of this story as a “kitchen sink” as in, when it came to the sex scenes, the author tossed in everything but the kitchen sink. We get public sex, a threesome (this really felt tossed in and went on and on and on), rough, angry sex…a little bit of everything. I get that Mia was for the first time letting her wants and desires play out, but it was a bit much and ended up feeling over the top. I hit the point of thinking, enough already.

Those scenes aside, I got caught up in wondering how this couple was going to make their unconventional relationship work. They have nothing going for them, but in the end, I liked the resolution and believed that how it all played out made sense for them and their relationship.

This new series is definitely more on the grittier side, not a lot of sunshine and rainbows here. But I liked the setup and I’m curious to see who’s up next in book 2. While the romance maybe went overboard for me with all the sex, the relationship between Cole and Mia was interesting and I ended up enjoying the story.

ARC Review:

Wow, what a thrilling ride! I’ve been a fan of Jill Sorenson since her Aftershock series. Her books are tightly written, fast-paced, and highly dramatic. Riding Dirty does not disappoint.

I was originally intrigued by the premise of this story. Psychologist Mia Richards is working with a recently released inmate, Cole Shepherd. He’s negotiated an early release by agreeing be an informant against his uncle, the leader of a motorcycle club. Mia has an ulterior motive for working with this client – she wants to manipulate him into assassinating the man who murdered her husband, the leader of the rival motorcycle club. To what extent will Mia go to accomplish her goal? Will Cole discover her duplicity? Sounds good, right?

Cole is downright brash. He’s smart but lacks self-control. Going to prison this time and the murder of a loved one makes him question his life’s trajectory. Combine that with the tools that Mia gives him in his therapy sessions and he’s making progress.

Mia has been consumed by revenge. She’s lost everything, including herself. She cannot let go of her past and therefore, is not living at all today. Through her interactions with Cole, her façade begins to crack. Her journey to self-discovery parallels her newly renewed sexuality. And yes, those scenes are pretty darn steamy.

In the Aftershock series, Jill Sorenson uses physical boundaries to contain her stories and amp up the tension. In a similar manner, she brings that same sense of containment in this book, but this time through the tightly bound world of the one-percenters. If 99% of motorcycle clubs are not into criminal activity, the 1%-ers are outlaws. Cole lives on the edge. He was in the outlaw world and his loved ones are all apart of that lifestyle. He feels the pending betrayal deeply.

Jill Sorenson is from Southern California and she brings that flavor into her writing. Being from same region, comments like: “It stuck her as starkly beautiful in a way that only the desert was. Beautiful like snakeskin” and “He tasked like soda and cilantro, spicy and hot” deeply resonate with me. The region becomes like a character in the book. If you’ve been to the Coachella Valley, you will understand how places like Indio are very distinctive. It truly stands out to me as “the mixture of industrialism and nature. . . Lush golf courses were set against barren wastelands. Rich mingled with poor.” My first time in Indio (I was vacationing in Palm Springs and ventured into Indio in search of a date shake), I too was struck by that dichotomy.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Jill Sorenson brings us a dark, erotic, edgy romance steeped in Southern California outlaw culture. Full of drama, this story is a page turner.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mia's got one thing on her mind and thinks she has the perfect tool to get the revenge she wants on her husband's killers. It's Cole "Shank" Shepherd, and she's going to be his therapist while he acts as an informant against the Dirty Eleven motorcycle club.

Her plan to seduce him into finding and killing the MC members that murdered her husband has one problem (well, maybe more than one) -- she didn't anticipate the instant attraction she feels for Cole from their very first meeting. Jill Sorenson does an incredible job of building the sexual heat between Mia and Cole from the start.

Add one sketchy chief investigator who wants Mia too, and that results in a whole lot of trouble for Cole and Mia. Damon Vargas has a few moves of his own, including threatening to throw Cole back in prison and more I don't want to spoil for you.

Cole and Mia couldn't be more mismatched and yet there's such a strong attraction between them that neither one can deny it. Cole brings Mia back to life, awakening something in her she hasn't felt since her husband was murdered. Mia opens up to Cole in some major ways, sharing her fantasies which Cole is happy to make happen for her, and Mia gives Cole hope for a different kind of life, one without the MC and it's criminal element.

It's not all lust though, and soon they both find themselves falling for the other. Cole is not just tough, he's sensitive and sexy and the scenes between Mia and Cole burned up the virtual pages of my e-reader!

When Vargas and the MC discover Cole and Mia's relationship, they are in deep trouble, leading up to a conclusion that had me holding my breath.

Riding Dirty is a bit dark which helps to give the story realism. It's super sexy, too, with the chemistry between these two characters off the charts. Fans of Jill's Aftershock series are going to love the connections between Riding Dirty and characters from that series. And I always appreciate the beautiful and dangerous California locations that Jill pays homage to in her stories that bring back fond memories of the years I lived in California.

Riding Dirty is a solid five star read for me. I couldn't put it down, and I immediately went back to re-read my favorite parts. Ms. Sorenson doesn't leave her roots of suspense in this erotic romance but combines the erotic nature of the tale with a well-crafted crime storyline. It's a scorchin' hot, suspenseful read that just really grabbed my attention and left me satisfied.

Recommended.

This book was an "experience" to me. There is really no other way I can describe it. I felt immersed in the world Sorenson created. When I wasn't reading, all I wanted to do was go back to this book.

I think in a lot of MC club books, we get a heroine who is somehow thrown into this world. And she resists and resists until the love of her man ensnares her. I love that plot just as much as the next person. But this book? This was something different.

The heroine -- Mia -- is a victim of a home invasion so in a way, she was thrust into the world of MC clubs. But she could left it all behind. She is in WITSEC. But she doesn't. She wants to avenge her husband, so she willingly takes on a role, plotting to use an MC club member fresh out of prison to find out who her attackers are.

And that's what I found so cool. Mia had an agenda and went after it. She wasn't passive, but VERY active. As far Cole. Oh man, what can I say about Cole. I loved him. He felt incredibly unique and fresh to me. The author didn't make apologies for his criminal past or romanticize the MC life. He was bad news. He knew it and Mia knew it. And Mia didn't make apologies for him either. Sorenson did not glorify any criminal behavior. It was what it was. Cole was smart and tough and when it came to Mia -- protective and caring.

I could not predict the twists and turns in this book. Not at all. And without being too spoiler-y, what I found most interesting was that Mia's agenda definitely...shifting and warped as the book went on.

As for the writing - come on, it's Jill Sorenson. The writing is fantastic and emotional.

I highly recommend. I'm still thinking about it days later and I can't wait for the next in the series.

This story had me hooked from page one. I usually skip the Prologue in stories since it has a tendency to give away the story or a spoiler, but you have to read the Prologue in this book to understand what Michelle/Mia went through the night her husband died.

Mia has gone into protective custody. She has changed her appearance, her name, and her past. Her husband was brutally murdered and she wants to find out who killed her husband. Mia is working as a psychologist and her new client is Cole “Shank” Shephard. She thinks that the information Cole will provide will help her find her husband’s killers so her plan all along is to seduce him. Cole has his own agenda as an informant. Both of these characters are using each other and putting up an act, but one act they cannot pretend anymore is their attraction for one another.

I love stories about ex-cons turning around and becoming one of the good guys. Like I mentioned, I really liked the beginning of this book, it drew me, but then somewhere at about 56%, I became a little annoyed. A lot of it became predictable. Do not misunderstand, there is a lot of action in this book. Mia and Cole are dealing with some very dangerous people. It is that some things happen in the story and I lost my connection to Mia and Cole. Some of the situations in this book could have been eliminated.
This book had the action mixed in with romance.

Another book that started off strong but kind of fell flat. I know I always say this...I didn't feel the love between Cole and Mia. I absolutely hate it when the author doesn't put in the steamy love making scenes. They just tell us that it happened the night before. I need some steamy on top of the kinky stuff. lol Mia couldn't even stand to be on her back or in a closed room with Cole. Even during the F/F/M scene she had to be on top. lol I needed the author to show me when Mia decided it was all right for Cole to be on top. Yes I know I'm voicing all about sex. Well...I felt after they had sex the first time the book just started to be all about Mia's fantasies. lol
I liked this one ok. Will I be reading more...I'm not sure.

The loads and loads of sex just ruined this.

It started off great until they decided to jump each other's bones. And I thought that some of the sex scenes were kinda irrelevant to the story.

Still, looking forward to Ace book. He was the bad guy who kidnapped Owen's sister in Badlands (Aftershock, #3) by Jill Sorenson I hope his story is next.

Well the sex was hot and off the charts, and I loved the ending, very believable. The writing was good, but overall the storyline was just meh. Little Skye was so adorable. I hope her dad Ace gets the next story.

Psychologist Mia Richards's life changed three years ago when her husband was killed in a home invasion robbery and she was left for dead. For her safety, she was placed in the Witness Protection Program and has since moved on, at least professionally. Personally, Mia has been bidding her time, planning revenge on her attackers and she just found the perfect weapon in one of her patients - ex-con Cole 'Shank' Shepherd. Cole's affiliation with an MC is exactly why Mia chose him and she plans to seduce him, use him to identify and take out the killers - members of a rival MC. What she does not prepare for is that she will like him as well as be deeply attracted to him.

Cole Shepherd grew up in the Dirty Eleven MC and now he plans to betray them in exchange for early release from prison, a breach of the code by which the MC operates and his death sentence for sure. Things get even more complicated when his psychologist turns out to be a smoking hot woman who gets him revved up very fast and he makes no secret of his desire to get her into his bed. But more than just the sex, Mia makes him take a good look at his life and he finds himself wanting more than he's had so far. He wants an actual connection and real intimacy, he wants to settle down and share his life with someone and he wants all of this with Mia.

The question becomes how can two very different people, from different backgrounds make a go of this? What will happen to Mia's revenge plot? What about Cole's commitment to informing on Dirty Eleven? How can all of these competing obligations be resolved to their satisfaction? Mia knows that as soon as she decided to seduce her client for her own purposes, her career was pretty much over and while she is determined to complete her plan, it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep her eye on the goal as Cole dedicates himself to bringing all her sexual fantasies to life.

Wow! RIDING DIRTY really is dirty (I just had to say that) and dark. Even though I've read some MC books and considered them to be a raw and gritty depiction of the MC life, RIDING DIRTY is definitely on a whole other level for me and I found myself a bit discomfited by some of its content. The complexity of life as a member of an MC is really the main theme of this book and I give Ms. Sorenson high points for pushing the envelope quite a bit with the wilder and explicit scenes.

I have mixed feelings about the characters due to my personal tastes but I'll highlight the positives. Cole makes no excuses about his past, but he is very straightforward and blunt and when it comes to Mia, he is very possessive. Mia is focused, bold and single-minded about what she wants. These traits are just what they need to deal with the changes in their relationship and the danger that they find themselves in.

For anyone who loves MC books or very explicit erotic romance, this may be just the book for you. If however, you have a taste for the more conventional type of romance, then I highly suggest that you pass on this.

First reviewed at Red Hot Books http://redhotbooks.com/2014/10/review...

There was lots of buzz going around about this book and when the blurb mentioned “motorcycle”, I threw my fingers at the keyboard and emailed asking for a review copy. This doesn’t follow the typical MC book structure in that there is very little interaction with the hero’s club. On the flip side, there is violence and plenty of hot hot sex.

It was an ordinary day when Michelle Ruiz came home to find her husband tied up with three masked men rifling through their wall safe. Attempting to flee, she is caught and assaulted by one of the intruders. By some stroke of luck, she is able to survive his attempt to suffocate her with a pillow. Still, Michelle Ruiz died with her husband that night. Three years later, after undergoing a complete identity makeover courtesy of witness protection, Mia Richards is ready to finally get her revenge.

Cole “Shank” Shepherd is caught between a rock and a hard place. He barely survived an attack in prison and wouldn’t likely live through the next one. Cole makes a deal with DA investigator Vargas to rat on his Dirty Eleven MC club president, who also happens to be his Uncle, because he has better defenses on the outside. Wear an ankle monitor and have weekly sessions with a hot psychologist is a small price to pay to be out of prison.

Mia’s plan was simple – to seduce Cole Shepard and get him to kill the persons responsible for her husband’s death. It was Vargas that informed Mia that the Dirty Eleven’s rival club, White Lightening, was responsible for the home invasions. Mia thought she could prey on Cole’s natural violent tendencies and his proven readiness to defend women. Her plans unravel and are quickly discarded when Cole and Mia give into their heady attraction. Cole doesn’t care much how Mia ended up with him. He’s too busy trying to walk the line between Vargas, his Uncle and other crews that are all out to get him. Soon enough, events catch up to the couple and they have to fight for the life they want, even if it is the one they never imagined.

This story is dark and has an overall somber tone to it. Jill Sorenson doesn’t sugarcoat these characters. Mia is a broken woman who is lost and haunted by the past. Cole is a product of two junkies and was raised in poverty. There is an air of resignation and sad acceptance that permeates his character. When Cole and Mia get together, they operate on a raw and primitive level and that may be why the sex is wickedly hot. There is one M/F/F hotel scene that might have overheated my kindle. The emotional aspect of their relationship is mainly viewed through cracks as their lives begin to shift.

The suspense is well done and had me eagerly flipping pages but I will have to say there was a fair amount of WTFery in the overall plot. If you just go where it takes you and don’t think about it too much, you’ll find it more enjoyable. This was my first book by Sorenson, but not the last. I’m eager to read where she takes this series.
