The "50 Shades of Grey" of the fifties.
Oh, the scandal this must have caused! A woman in charge of her own life? Making her own choices? Revolutionary!

I really enjoyed this book, the tale is beautifully woven between the various settings and stages of her life. She is such a strong woman, taking charge of her life in a time when that wasn't typically done - it felt very empowering to read this, after I finished it I felt like I could go out and do anything

SPOILER:

Enjoyed but wouldn’t recommend to others. Wish I read this with a book club so we could discuss Lola’s attraction to evil Lundy.
