This is a very well researched and written history of two men and their personal struggle against the U.S. The author makes it clear he is not trying to take sides but just trying to relate the information regarding Zeke Proctor and Ned Christie. For anyone interested in Native Americans and their relations with the U.S. government, this account is not overly long and does not drag.

I love history that is local to me, and the stories of Zeke Proctor and Ned Christie are a fascinating window into the Cherokee society and the challenges that they faced. It reads more like a novel than a history book, and I highly recommend it to everyone that is interested in Native American or Western history.
