Christine Sparks was born in England, UK. She wanted to be a writer all her life, and began by working on a British women's magazine. As a features writer, she gained a wide variety of experience. She interviewed some of the world's most attractive and interesting men, including Warren Beatty, Richard Chamberlain, Charlton Heston, Sir Roger Moore, Sir Alec Guiness.
Single life was so enjoyable that she put marriage, and even romance, on the back burner, while she went about the world having a great time. Then, while on vacation in Venice, she met a tall, dark handsome Venetian artist, who changed all her ideas in a moment, and proposed on the second day. Three months later they were married. Her friends said a whirlwind romance would never last, but they celebrated their 25 anniversary, they are still married, still happy and in love.
After 13 years on the magazine Christine decided that it was now or never if she was ever going to write that novel. So she wrote Legacy of Fire which became a Silhouette Special Edition, followed by another, Enchantment in Venice. Then she did something crazy gave up her job. Since then she has concentrated entirely on writing romances for Mills & Boon, Harlequin and Silhouette and has written over 75 books. Her settings have been European and her heroes mainly English or Italian. Christine now claims to be an expert on one particular subject. Italian men are the most romantic in the world. They are also the best cooks.
A few years ago she and her husband returned to Venice and lived there for a couple of years. This proved the perfect base for exploring the rest of Italy, and she has given many of her books Italian settings: Venice (of course), Rome, Florence, Milan, Sicily, Tuscany. She has also used the Rhine in Germany for Song of the Lorelei, for which she won her first RITA Award, in 1991. Her second RITA came in 1998, with His Brother's Child, set in Rome.
Eventually Christine Fiorotto and her husband returned to England, where they now live. She write and he paints, they have no children, but have a cat and a dog.
2.5 they are both pigheadedly stubborn stars! Rounded down. Older heroine - treats hero like a child, and since he WAS a playboy, thought she'd be able to brush him off easily! Reformed playboy sicilian hero - has his eyes set on commitment, and is actually very subtly the controlling one in the relationship. it's his way or highway. As a result we have an almost dead heroine at the end of the, I partly blame the hero for it. Keep your ultimatums to yourself you idiot. He gives her an ultimatum, marry me or leave me, whereas, she was more on the take, let's take one day at a time. Result: she leaves him. Sicilian pride gets hurt, so god forbid if HE chases her. So now she has to chase him, get in a plane crash, almost dies, is probably half blind for the rest of her life, but says yes to marriage, so HEA, which is also limited to probably 20 years, because her health is now very fragile and she's no longer expected to live a full normal life. None of them understood the word compromise and at the end, what would have meant him waiting couple of extra months for her to agree, has actually turned into what she feared most, her tying him down. Because with her state of health, she now needs constant care, and he'll no longer be able to fly around the world. It sounds wonderful in a book where hero overlooks this and puts the heroine first, but in real life this is not going to be an ideal relationship, and of course as I said, could have been avoided, and the book would have ended at least 50 pages before. We also have terrible relatives. The winning contestants have a tie between heroine's 21 years old son and the hero's mother. The 21 years old son gets a girls pregnant, wants nothing to do with her, wants mum to take care of that, lives off mum, but doesn't take orders from her and definitely judges her for having a love life. Hero's mother, hates heroine, she's not good enough for her playboy son. she has made that abundantly clear. However, she was FURIOUS at heroine for dumping her precious baby. How dare she. She wanted her son to dump HER, not the other way round. Her precious baby can't be hurting, if his son hurt some insignificant woman, who cared about that. I wonder how the hero ever WAS reformed from his rake days with a mother like that. This mother will probably find virginal sacrifice for her son herself if he'd ask her to!
This was fairly good. Bit of a tear jerker. Here again the 7 years that the heroine is older than the hero made a big difference. Maybe that was slightly forgiveable here since the heroine had a son who was 21. And she did think about the fact that the hero might get tired of her and want a younger woman after awhile which seemed at least slightly realistic because the hero was written very young seeming and charming.
It was lovely however how he gives up so much to care for her.
Gave this a 4. This is my favorite of the Rinucci Brothers series (I think there are 7 books). I almost hate saying that though because I'm very unhappy with the ending. Which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. The main thing that prevented giving it a five is basically because it indicates at the end of the book that the h will have 15 years of life left or maybe 20 if extra lucky. And he has a talk with his mother about being able to see quite clearly in the future and knows he will not remarry. What????? Why is this even mentioned. I mean this is a romance book. It's supposed to be an escape, a happy ending (in my opinion), a nice long life together. So I didn't like that. What I did like was how dedicated he was going to be to her.

Jen's Review: Della goes to Naples Italy to scout out a possible host for a documentary she is producing. Carlo was a playboy who was instantly attracted to Della.
This book was a tear-jerker and I had to keep my tissues handy. This is the 4th or 5th book in the Rinucci Brothers series (it totally stands alone) and it's actually a step above a couple of the previous stories. I particularly enjoyed the older woman-younger man aspect.
I love this Carlo Rinucci, because he known his woman and tried to win her heart, but Della had more think about the ages. When Della lying coma, Carlo insisted he was her husband, because in his heart, he known their had been husband and wife. can you think how you feel if you have a man who would find his way to your heart ?
