Continuing a nostalgia reads of my favorite RPG when I was in high school. In this volume, Palladium's "Rifts" series heads to the open ocean, which features whale shape shifters, submergible aircraft carriers and a globe-spanning alien intelligence taking up residence in the Mariana Trench.
This is a middle-of-the-road offering. A lot of pages are taken up with ocean and cetacean facts that have a fifth-grade book report feel. At the same time, the alien monsters, roving pirates and wild power armor feel familiar from the Atlantis and core world books.
Not much here is new or novel, although the floating cities and immortal Sea Titans offer some fun food for thought. A lot of additional details are promised to be pending in the "Lemuria" World Book, which looks to have come out in 2016, about 20 years after it was teased. ;)
I wouldn't consider this a classic offering, but if you're interested in a nautical setting for high-tech adventuring, there's some fun stuff here.

Even though the Palladium role-playing system is not the one I use in my games the source books are fantastic. Tons of great ideas and characters are scattered throughout the books. Very recommended for any gamer.
