The Best Ice Cream Maker Cookbook Ever

Rate this book
Choice is what it's all about: Choosing your favorite flavor, favorite topping or swirl-in, favorite frozen dessert. For no matter what kind of ice cream maker you own -- an inexpensive canister or a top-of-the-line electric freezer -- there's an extra special treat here for you.

Exciting flavors include an assortment of vanillas of varying degrees of richness, several great chocolates, Butter Pecan, Sensational Strawberry, Peaches 'n' Cream, Utterly Peanut Butter and Double Ginger to mention only a sampling. For an extra flourish, there's a collection of ice creams with add-ons -- swirls and twirls, sauces and toppings. There is even an entire chapter of great reduced-fat light ice creams and nonfat frozen yogurts with names like Creamy Banana, Cappuccino, Date Rum and Maple Crunch.

Many completely fat-free frozen delights are covered in the chapter called "Sorbets, Granitas and Other Ices." Enticing and refreshing, they come in flavors such as Kiwi-Lime, Mango Margarita, Spiced Rasberry and Strawberry Daquiri. And for showstopping, truly fabulous desserts, made completely in advance, turn to the last chapter, which contains ice cream cakes, pies and other frozen desserts.

I wish I could live long long enough to try everything in this 1600 page ice cream book. Or I want a club that meets very week where each person brings a different recipe from this book. There is no other way one can try everything Peggy Fallon has compiled.

This book has everything that needs to be said about how to make ice cream , ingredients and equipment. I never had to search for any term or conversion on the internet. I'd sell the idea to make ice cream at home to anybody, it's easier than making coffee. I've become a bit of a mad scientist about ice cream making lately, even though I still work on basic apparatus. I couldn't justify the need or cost of a self freezing type of machine. The freezer bowl style of machine is a bit space consuming , especially in these times when the space is used for covid rations. Despite the minor inconveniences at first, its easy to adapt and plan for the idle freezing time involved. I haven't gotten bored of this hobby, yet.

The pages are not numbered making it a bit hard to refer to recipes. The book misses no detail, or advice where required. I don't think I'll ever search for ice cream recipes on the internet with this one.

I have a e-copy of the book though the huge hard copy definitely deserves space on my shelf. I know there are plenty of other books out there but I'm not sure if I will need that many!

Fantastic recipes. Smooth creamy ice creams that don't leave a film on the roof of your mouth. My husband, an ice cream fiend, said, "That was the best rocky road ice cream I've ever had."
