Fairy Tales of New York #4

Seduced by the Baron

Once upon a time, Faith Sullivan dreamed of being a famous painter who lived in an apartment overlooking Central Park. Unfortunately, life had other ideas... At 26, Faith's still running, working and living at Sully’s, her family’s traditional Irish pub in Brooklyn with her stubborn, ailing father. And she was perfectly fine with her lot until suddenly her three best friends each found their prince, and her own happily ever after seemed like another dream lost. Until one day a long, tall Australian walks into her bar and her loved-up besties decided to play Fairy Godmothers. Ex pro-surfer turned beer baron, Rafael Quartermaine is in New York for a month on business. He’s looking for a pub to launch Baron lager on the American market and Sully’s is perfect. All he has to do is convince Faith, the traditionalist, to say yes. And once he’s done that, maybe he can convince her that all work and no play makes Faith a dull girl. Faith’s connection to her family and Sully’s is absolute, and Raf’s business drive and itchy feet aren’t conducive to long term, so it should be an easy break when duty calls Faith back into the fold on the evening of the ball. But running out on the baron is harder than she ever imagined… Will their fling sizzle out, or become something more? The Fairy Tales of New York series Book 1: Pursued by the Rogue by Kelly Hunter Book 2: Tempting the Knight by Heidi Rice Book 3: Taming of the Beast by Lucy King Book 4: Seduced by the Baron by Amy Andrews

Self-sacrifice... an admirable trait... until it becomes a way to hide and deny the person who is doing it a life of more. It can also be the fallback habit and others will be taught to allow that person to just continue to do...as that is their way.

In the last installment of The Fairy Tales of New York series, Faith finally has to look in the mirror and confront her life. All of her best friends from school have come back and become her lifelines once again. All have found through their own journeys and confrontations their happiness through careers and love. They have paired up... two with her brothers, for heaven's sake! Even Mercy has somehow worked a miracle and Seb, Zelda's older brother who once had been a beast of a man has transformed for her.

Now Faith is seeing these things and is trying to reconcile all of her decisions. Her devotion, love of her family, and memory of her mother all made her defer her dream of pursuing her art and enrollment at Columbia after her father's heart attack. All of the children had grown up at Sully's, worked the bar, and felt it their home. Yet when push came to shove, it was Faith who took it on; the brothers all were in the midst of careers... an attorney, a world-class pianist and twin brothers who had an emerging band. It was Faith who happily set aside her wants and made working side by side with Dad her new goal. She made Sully's current yet homey. It had the traditional feel and love of its customers. But with this came the chains of running a pub...no time off, hard physical work and long hours every day. She also had her father who was getting on in years and refused to have the surgery which would put him to rights... heart-wise. Faith's stubborn streak came from somewhere and she only had to look at her Father to know where.

In the last book, Taming the Beast, Mercy was talking to one of her business acquaintances about Sully's and how it would be a terrific place to introduce his new lager. This book opens with Rafael Quartermaine freezing his important parts off on his way to Sully's to meet up with Mercy. He has come from Australia where his Baron Lager is based. He is looking to open up the international market and Sully's as a homey neighborhood pub fits his test market.

It is the meeting of Raf at the bar which turns a switch on in Faith's mind. Oh, she wasn't dead inside... just a bit dormant as there really wasn't anyone to pursue...the regulars were just that- regular. The distributors had been a possibility but nothing to write home about... so in her mind... there was no "prince charming" coming her way and had decided love and all that wasn't real... just something fed to you in fairy tale books when you were kids. Real-life proved them wrong.

As Raf talks with a couple of regulars, Faith takes in this fine specimen of a man...yes, hair, eyes and all that so good and powerful... but it is the artist in Faith which focuses on his arms and hands...She sees them in all their glory... like the Greek statues, she would study for form during her past art classes. The veins and muscles rippling ever so slightly as he grabbed for the beer she handed to him. Oh, it could make a gal dream...Faith thought.

Raf looked into the eyes of Faith and saw sparkle, strength, and oh, so much determination. She was not like women he played with...she was real and what was there was what she was, no agenda or plan and her face... sweet and clear...and those corkscrew curls...how he wished he had his hands in them and could play with them. As she bent over to grab something from under the bar, Raf had to clear his head as the vision of her filling out those jeans just so made all kinds of ideas pop in his head that had nothing to do with getting his lager into this pub.

Raf also had another hurdle; Faith and her dad hated Lagers, the only beer worth drinking was a Guinness. Yes, they had a couple of lagers on tap, but an Australian Lager, Faith knew her father would laugh her off the stool. Mercy had surprised her with this meeting and when she used the "friend like a daughter" card with the dad, Faith decided she would take the presentation with Raf, politely say thanks but no thanks and that would be that. Raf was quick to set up the time for the next day.

Why, oh why did it have to be the same day all of the gals met once a month. Faith arranged for it to be an hour before the gals would come, thinking it would be done and done before they arrived.

All-day Raf thought of Faith... during meetings with other distributors, lunches and calls. He thought of her hair, her eyes, her stubborn hold of her head with the undercurrent of interest. He could tell she wasn't a player, a one niter... but oh how he wanted to taste all of her... her mouth, her skin... just her.

Raf set up all of the tasting samples. He knew his product and how good it was. Faith was not going to be able to say no. When he insisted on blindfolding her with his tie...immediately her mind went to other things... things she only had read about... but not experienced..or even wanted to. She flushed and the pink in her cheeks cause Raf to continue to flirt and tease. Holding strong and denying the blindfold, Faith closed her eyes and allowed the sampling to begin. Once it was over, there was no denying Raf's Baron Lager belonged at the bar for a trial. Little did Faith realize it was only beginning of another trial of sorts...one with her and Raf.

This last entry in the series had all of the heart and comfort expected and more. Faith's life had been hard; she lost her mother in her teens, had a brief time of comradely with her friends and St. John's only to have made a huge mistake which causes all of them to part ways. The pub landed on her shoulders with her Father being ill but still involved. She was the boss but not the boss. She also made sure her father's health and routine were done. It had all been left to her yet she wouldn't have it any other way...

What had developed, before she knew it, was always putting her self second; behind the Sully's needs, her father's wants, and her brothers' careers. This meeting of Raf disturbed the order of things. It caused all of her longings to resurface... to do art and possibly be part of something bigger...

Amy Andrews breathed life into an offshoot of Cinderella and I for one was there every step of the way.

I loved this series. I could not stop reading it. I would finish one of the books and then start the next right away. Each of the authors, Kelly Hunter, Heidi Rice, Lucy King and Amy Andrews, did a fantastic job of making it seem seamless. The heart that went into this book and all the rest made this reading experience top-notch. Thank you for all the pleasure you gave. Highly recommend.

You DO NOT have to read all of them to enjoy each of them. The decision would be based on your reading preferences and habits. There is the core premise of the 4 women, their "Fairy Tale" and Sully's/New York as the base.

4 - "Here's to well hung men who are good with their hands." Stars!

Seduced by the Baron, was a pretty enjoyable end, to what has been an absolutely stellar series from Tule Publishing. Every book from the Fairy Tales of New York series has been easy to read, with a great set of recurring characters, a likeable couple and lots of sexy-times thrown in for good measure.

Australia collides with New York in this one, with Faith Sullivan finally getting a chance at her own happily ever after with Beer Brewer, and all-round sexy-surfer Rafael Quartermain. After watching Mercy get together with Seb, Dawn and Finn finally reconnect and Zel and Ty go from frenemies to lovers, Faith had pretty much given up on ever getting her own happily ever after, especially as she is stuck running the family pub; Sullivan’s, while her ailing father buries his head in the sand about important life decisions.

Amy Andrews always manages to work a little light relief into her romances and I liked that about this book, Raf had the patter, and Faith had the comebacks and together their story, albeit a tad predictable towards the end, was still a joy to read.

Tule Publishing have really set the benchmark high on this type of series, and I think the use of different authors for each book keeps things varied and interesting for the reader, there are an awful lot of publishers out there attempting to do the same thing that could definitely take a leaf out of their book, as to how it should be done. I cannot wait for more from them, and this wonderful group of authors in the future. Especially as we still have two Sullivan brothers awaiting their own happily ever after, I really hope one or more of the authors from this series steps back into the world that they have created at some point in the future and gives us their stories, and hopefully many more.

The finale in the Fairy Tales of New York ties up the series pretty near perfect. Faith has featured heavily throughout the series and Amy Andrews has brought her reader a lovely take on a very well-known fairy tale.

description

Until the last book, Taming the Beast, it had been a bit of a mystery who would be Faith's Prince Charming. And to discover that the man in question was an Aussie made me a happy lady, particularly one who in my head resembled Thor. Raf and Faith were perfect together; they brought the sweet and the sexy and whilst it didn't hold any real surprises it mattered not as their romantic journey was just lovely.

description

Kelly Hunter, Heidi Rice, Lucy King and Amy Andrews have together brought a memorable series that hasn't disappointed in any way. Each has been linked perfectly and whilst they could all be read as standalones, I wouldn't recommend it simply because it's been a pleasure to become immersed in the lives of this group of people. And with a fine epilogue along with the answer finally confirmed on who did steal the altar wine all those years ago, Amy Andrews has brought the fairy tale that has been this series to a fine end.

I realize that I have become unfairly jaded. I'm now easily bored by romances and too dismissive of those that feel overly familiar. Seduced by the Baron does exactly what one would expect from a contemporary retelling of Cinderella. The hero's madly in lust--which turns to love--and always desperate to use his very big dick. The heroine is spunky, sexy, also madly in lust, and needs a push to realize her dreams. The clothes and hotels--the story is set in New York City--are name brands. There is girls night out in which other now coupled women from the series ogle the hot hero in his jeans.

Ms. Adams is a reliably strong writer and here she's done just what most readers want: Written a predictable, slightly feminist fairy tale that offers nary a moment of worry.

I want more, damnit. But, to be fair, that is just me.

In the fourth and final Fairy Tales of New York series Ms. Andrews takes her readers into her version of Cinderella and wraps up the group of four female friends who have gone through ten years of loving and living. Not to mention we finally learn which of the four girls stole the wine all those years ago. This story may actually be the one that resembles the fairy tale the most for me. It’s a great novella full of some heat, lots of love, full of responsibilities and of course happily ever afters. Ms. Andrews has captured New York in the winter perfectly and has gifted her readers with some great descriptions of everything from people and places to beer and earrings. This is a short sweet must read treat.

I read Seduced by the Baron in one sitting, loved it and couldn't put it down.

I loved both Faith and Rafael, they were both likable and relatable. They had amazing chemistry and there was no doubt these two were meant for each other =)

I'm a big fan of Amy Andrews writing and once again she has delivered a well written and entertaining read.

Thank you Tule Publishing via Netgalley for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this latest multi-author series from Tule Publishing. Not only was it great fun to read about four fairy tales updated into modern New York, the tale of four close friends finding not just love but each other again, and often themselves as well, has also been a delight to read. This fourth and final installment is no exception as Cinderella has an absolute ball with a beer baron.

Faith has always been the steady one of the group, the one from a big, close family who gave up her dreams to run the family bar and take care of her father. She’s loyal and loving, but has also fallen into a bit of rut, letting life pass her by as she took care of her many responsibilities. Now it’s her turn to cut loose – and luckily for her, a sexy Australian businessman turns up on her doorstep at exactly the right moment.

I like Faith; I wanted her to enjoy herself. She’s been too serious for too long and it really was time someone showed her brothers just how much they were taking her for granted. It was also great to see the other three heroines coming back to weave their own particular brand of Fairy Godmother magic to see that Faith got out and had fun.

Oh, and what fun Raf is. I liked him – he’s successful and sexy and refreshingly angst-free. I particularly liked that he respected Faith’s responsibilities and didn’t demand extra time for him, but was willing to pitch in and spend time with her. Their dates are pretty sweet too. Not that he’s all nice and adorable, because mostly he’s smoking hot and the chemistry between the two of them is scorching. Brace yourselves for the reappearance of a certain tie, that’s all I’m saying.

Hot and sexy, with plenty of sensual playfulness, this was a great read and a perfect end to the series. I really enjoyed seeing Faith get everything she deserved and Raf turned out to be a thoroughly worthy hero. I am a little sad to be leaving Sully’s behind, though. Which leaves me wondering about the last of Faith’s unattached brothers, those musical twins. It sure would be nice to know more about them some time…

Cinderella....with a twist. This is the final in the four book Fairy Tales of New York series. Faith is well named. The faithful daughter of the Sullivan clan, she took over the running of the pub when her father's health failed a month before she was to attend Columbia to study art. Eight years later, she is still plodding away, taking her mother's place looking after Pop Sullivan and getting little credit for it. She tells herself she is satisfied with the choice she made but the arrival of Raf Quartermaine triggers a restlessness that she didn't expect.

Australian ex-surfer Raf is in the big apple for a few weeks to promote his boutique lager and Sullivan's sounds like just the place to do it. The bonus is Faith who stirs him from their first meeting. Unfortunately her responsibilities make it difficult for her to be the playmate he's used to picking up in his transient lifestyle. He's a nice guy, but his philosophy of "love the one you're with" when he's only ever around for days or weeks makes him a player in Faith's eyes.

I really enjoyed watching Raf and Faith get to know each other and themselves in between some hot and heavy smexy. I'm pretty sure there are no green ties in my house and it's going to stay that way...seriously. I loved the way Faith's friends, and under the influence of the women in their lives, Faith's brothers, stepped up the the plate to give her a Cinderella experience. But of course for every Cinderella, the clock has to strike twelve...

Overall a lovely story with a nice epilogue to tie up the series.

The final book in the Fairy Tales of New York series is here and its Faith Sullivan's turn in finding her ever after but will she have the courage to go after it or will her love for family and loyalty to the family business be forever an obstacle in her pursuit of happiness. With its sexy hero and utterly charming and lovely heroine, Amy Andrews has crafted a tale that epitomises the theme of that beloved story Cinderella. There might not be glass slippers but there is definitely a ball and three fairy godmothers willing to do everything for their faithful friend to get her own dreams fulfilled.

Seduced by the Baron was a pure joy to read. A modern adaptation of the beloved Cinderella, it was refreshing to find a twist in the story line. For Faith it was love for her family and the place she grew up in was the very thing that was preventing her from living her own life. No evil relatives in sight but only love and loyalty that was the barrier. So when her Prince, the sexy Raf Quartermaine comes knocking at her door, it wasn't up to him to liberate her, only she can decide what she needs to do to pursue her dreams. I love all four of the novels in this series and Seduced by the Baron was a fitting book to end it. Excellently written, charming, sexy and heartbreakingly romantic, it truly is a Fairy Tale set in New York.

Well one of my favourite fairy tales is Cinderella and this story is an awesome Cinderella story Faith Sullivan is the youngest of the Sullivan siblings and since losing her Mum when she was young and then just as she was going of to University her Father has a heart attack and Faith decided that she will stay and run the pub in Brooklyn and care for her father while her brothers enjoy their lives. But the time has come her best friends Zel Mercy and Dawn have all had their HEA's and Faith needs to step up and have some fun so when Aussie Raf arrives to sell his new lager to be sold at the pub wow there is a spark between them that could light up New York :)

This journey to a HEA is so beautiful it is hot passionate and sensual and very heart warming as Raf and Faith learn a lot about each other and themselves and with Zel Mercy and Dawn playing fairy godmothers you will be smiling and cheering them all on as well as shedding a few tears. This is a beautifully written story that is so real MS Andrews has bought the characters on the pages to life and the setting of New York so good I really need to visit New York thank you for a fantastic story that I loved it from start to finish.

This really is a great series of stories that I highly recommend after all who doesn't enjoy a good fairy tale in a wonderful setting.

Faith had a dream of being a painter and living in NYC. Instead of fulfilling her dream she was running her family bar when her father JP had a heart attack Eight years later she is still looking after her dad and the bar. Then an Australian ex surfer Raf is in NYC to promote his lager. Raf is very attracted to Faith and her to him but she had too many to give him the time he is used to getting from a woman he is interested in. Faith also sees Raf as a player. But Raf respected Faith and her responsibilities. Raf wants Faith to go to his ball on St. Patricks day. But Faith won’t leave Sully’s [ her family’s bar] and her family. Her friends find out and push her into going. Her best friend from boarding school had found the loves of their lives [ 2 being 2 of faith’s brothers] but now they want Faith to have her chance.
Another good retell of Cinderella just no evil stepmother or stepsisters so that takes a little bit from the story but not that much.Just plenty of [4] brothers. I thought it was sweet two of her three friends fell for two of her brothers. I was happy when faith met raf even though at first she was very cautious. I loved the characters especially Faith and all the ins and outs she went through. Also Raf was a good character. I recommend.

I liked this book. Especially when it showcases Guiness! But what else would be in an Irish Pub! Amy knows what else goes in a NY Pub. Put an Aussie microbrewer of lagers in her story line. There were lots of sparks going off between Raf and Faith. Surprise, even her Dad, NO, liked it. Faith won't leave her Dad or the Pub. He has a bad heart and she won't leave him. Spoiler. Raf lets her know he is a " love 'em and leave 'em " sort. So she does a few dates with him. Raf has never seen love before. Things go bad on St. Patrick's Day. Raf wants her to go to his Ball but she won't leave Sully's and the family and regulars. Her friends find out and fix her up to go. Spoiler. She gets a text next morning with bad news! Major Spoiler. This story should be on your " to be read " pile. I would like to see you read this book. I hope you enjoy this book, especially the end! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my review.

Faith is tired of her boring life, but too afraid to change it. Meeting a beer baron has her wishing for and wondering about all the what-ifs she might have in the future.

I enjoyed this book a lot. In my opinion, it had the right blend of romance and eroticism. I kept "hearing" Rafe's voice/accent in my head the whole time *swoon*. The friendship that the four girls had was sweet. The story flowed along easily and credibly. I'd definitely like to read the entire series. This one is a must-have/must-buy!

Seduced by the Baron is the final book in the Fairy Tales of New York series. Feeling trapped Faith daydreams of a different life for herself. She longs to follow her dream of becoming an artist and finding the type of happiness and love that her friends have. Raf may just be the distraction she needs. Can she step away from her responsibilities and paint her own happily ever after with a little help from her friends. I have really enjoyed reading this entire series. Intriguing women, hot men and fantastic fairytales. A winner all the way.

A story full of fireworks, comical exchanges, brilliantly portrayed emotions and packed with enough heat that kept this reader riveted to the story :D Amy Andrews portrays two characters that leapt from the pages for this reader. Characters who melt hearts and have sparks and passion that fly from the pages.

I enjoyed this series and I think this was my favorite book of the four. Faith is running the family pub when Rafael comes to Brooklyn to get his Australian lager on tap there. I liked their chemistry and could see how easily Faith lost her way, whether it was her choice or not. What mattered was that she found her way and someone to share it with.

Thoughts: This one was pretty good and I need to read the others in the series. Faith seems so unaware of the fact that she has allowed herself to be short changed in life and that her family is taking advantage of her with her full permission. It made me angry. Her girlfriends from school were the best, making things possible for her.

I initially picked my Tablet up to read this book, not only because it was already on my TBR but because I knew that I needed something to distract me from thoughts of my next read which I thought was going to prove to be a difficult one in terms of subject matter. Well, Amy Andrews definitely managed to divert my attention and has once again blown me away with her witty, comedic, romantic and steamy writing.

These days I don’t usually get to finish a book in less than at least five or six sittings but this weekend just gone I said to hell with the washing and housework and simply enjoyed this one for a couple of hours.

I have only read one other book by Amy and that was Limbo (my review here), the first book in her new series, The Joy Valentine Mysteries but she has already become a contemporary romance author that I have added to my list of instant requests.

In Seduced by the Baron, Amy brings us a Cinderella-style story featuring Faith Sullivan. Faith is of Irish descent and has run the family pub, Sullys, since her mother died. When her father, JP, had his first heart attack, she undertook to be his carer, leaving her brothers to lead their lives but giving up all the dreams she once had so that she could help the business prosper.

One day, Australian Beer Baron Rafael (Raf) Quartermaine walks into the pub to meet (unbeknownst to Faith) one of her best friends from school. Raf has come to New York to try and market his newest Australian Lager which, of course, he should have known wouldn’t be that big a hit in an Irish Pub which serves Guinness. Thankfully, the luck of the Irish is on his side and he manages to win both Faith and JP over. It’s also not long before he begins to get under Faith’s skin and as their friendship progresses, developing into a passionate love affair, he, himself starts to wonder what it is about Faith that he is falling for, at the same time, making her think about everything she has given up for the love of her family.

Considering that Amy is an Australian writer and has an Australian character in her story, she has done a brilliant job at bringing a quintessentially Americanised novel to her audience and I never once felt out of place in her New York cum Brooklyn neighborhood setting.

The scene setting and exposition for the typically Irish Sully’s was, for me, almost like going to a pub “where everybody knows your name”, mixed with a little bit of Friends and certainly some Coyote Ugly (without the girls dancing on the bar) and I found myself constantly wanting Amy to take me back there just so that I could soak myself in its warmth. Not to mention the lusty and intense scenes that took place in the pub’s basement!

Amy has a wonderful talent and insight for creating well rendered characters who are grappling with meaningful situations in their lives and I enjoyed both Faith and Raf as well as her secondary characters who are all down-to-earth and real.

Faith is warm, smart, self-reliant, just a little feisty and filled with hopes and dreams that she thinks she has lost forever. Raf is just as memorable and I loved the fact that Faith, just by being herself, made him question what it was he was really looking for. Their interactions with one another and the secondary characters in no way came across as forced and the dialogue throughout is just spectacular, giving the reader a real feel for all of them.

This novel has a great sense of family, highlighting strong values and unity in situations that aren’t always easy to navigate.

It’s also Book Four in a series entitled Fairytales of New York published by Tule Publishing of which there is no need to read the first three in terms of plot, although you will be introduced to the secondary characters that add to the warmth and love that surrounds Faith.

If you’re looking for a quick, light, sexy read with great characterisation and a good dose of humour with the stuff that modern day fairytales are made of, then you need look no further.

Note: This ARC was provided by Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

With any series, you want the final book to end on a high, especially if the ones that came before it were good reads. As far as the multi-authored Fairy Tales of New York series is concerned, Amy Andrews's hit the ball out of the park with Seduced by the Baron, the fourth and final tale in the collection of stories about four best friends who find love and fulfillment with the men they're meant to be with. We finally have Faith Sullivan's story, one that didn't have her falling in love with any of her best friends's brothers, though Rafael Quartermaine does have a connection to one of them, Mercy Hernandez.

All four best friends have had their family issues, but Faith's is unique in that she's very close to her father and brothers and would do anything for them. She's taken on the task of managing the Irish pub they've owned for decades, something that her family has taken for granted. They've gotten used to her handling Sully's and whatever her father requires and both her personal and professional dreams have been put on hold for far too long. Rafael's appearance in her life opens her eyes to the possibilities of having a life beyond the pub but the weight of responsibility still sits very heavily upon her shoulders.

Faith's story was inspired by the Cinderella fairy tale by Charles Perrault and while Faith isn't a scullery maid being abused by her evil stepmother and stepsisters, the parallel of putting everything and everyone else's needs and wants ahead of her own is clear. As with Cinderella, Faith's servitude is one that she feels she cannot refuse, but in reality, she could have said something to her father and brothers. I also liked that Mercy, Dawn Turner, and Zel Madison were like three fairy godmothers (which is a bit more Sleeping Beauty-esque since Cinderella only had one) giving Faith her turn at a fairy tale ending.

I loved this tale of love, family, and friendship and how dreams that have been put on hold can still be made into reality if only we choose to finally make time for them. This last book in the series wrapped everything up quite nicely and we finally find out who the heck stole the altar wine in the first place (and the person I suspected really was the one who did it!). I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed that these four authors band together once again to create a new series, whether they be more modern fairy tales in another locale or something different. Seduced by the Baron gets 4.5 stars, rounded off to five stars. ♥

I’m tempted to say they saved the best for last – but I have loved every single title in the Fairy Tales of New York series, and if asked which is my favorite my answer would be the one I’m reading now. They are all such good, loving, sexy, involved love stories. These will be read again, simply to enjoy them back to back in a few months. But for now, let me tell you about this awesome story in Seduced by the Baron.

Faith has been the rock of her family for years now. Since their father’s health issues, Faith has stayed at home watching over Pop and Sullivan’s Bar. Her brothers don’t mean to take advantage of her, she’s simply always been the one to look after Pop and the bar so it’s second-nature to them now to see her behind the bar taking care of business. But Faith had dreams too, dreams that have gone unfulfilled. She put aside her art, she stepped away from her long awaited college art degree to take care of their father and their bar. It hadn’t really bothered her for years, yet now that her three friends and two of her brothers had paired up along with her friend’s brother… well, everyone got their happy ever after – except her. She wouldn’t let it get her down, Pop was her first priority and she was fine with life as it was, wasn’t she?

Raf Quartermaine is about to change all that. The sexy Australian is about to turn Faith’s world upside down. In the best way possible.

I was so thrilled with Faith’s story. She deserved her happy ever after and man, did she ever hit the jackpot. Faith and Raf together just hit all the right notes – sexy, caring all rolled up in one hot former surfer. It was so enjoyable to see Faith step beyond the bar and start to live for herself again. (I have been where the fictional Faith is in this story – and it’s not so easy to give to yourself as well, so I applaud how she was portrayed)

Of course there are issues, there has to be some conflict in any story. Yet, this was handled with style and grace and understanding. I honestly wish there were more stories in this line and I’ll miss my time with Faith, Dawn, Zel and Mercy.

I can highly recommend Seduced by the Baron for anyone at all who wants that happy ever after for their favorite characters. This novel, heck, this series is full of happy ever after so pick this one up and indulge yourself.

*I received an e-ARC of Seducing by the Baron from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

This is a great modern day version of the Cinderella fairy tale by the superb Aussie author Amy Andrews so I just knew I’d love it before I even started to read! As usual with Amy’s stories, it is well written, has a great plot and characters with whom it is easy to empathise and relate.

Like the others in this series, the story concerns four girls who became best friends whilst at boarding school. They are Faith, Dawn, Zelda and Mercedes (better known as Mercy). Together they support each other, together they get into serious bother (getting drunk on stolen communion wine!) that has them punished in a variety of ways that mean they are split up when they are sixteen years old. They do, however, reconnect and each story in this series tells how one of them meets their version of Prince Charming and achieves their ‘lives happily ever after’.

Faith Sullivan was brought up in Brooklyn where her family run a traditional Irish pub called ‘Sully’s’. She went to the boarding school after her mother tragically died and was planning to go to study fine art until her father had a heart attack. She stepped in to keep the pub running and to look after her father but that was years ago. There are no ugly sisters in this story, but she does have four brothers, two of whom are now romantically involved with two of her best friends. This just seems to emphasise her isolation and she’s starting to feel somewhat deflated. Whilst not totally downtrodden, Faith has made choices that leave her at home whilst her brothers can carry on their own lives.

Her three friends have each found their prince but her chance of a happily ever after seems as remote as ever. That is until Mercy sends her friend Raf, a charming, handsome, Aussie ex-surfer who is launching his new ‘Baron lager’ in to see if Sully’s will work with him on this. Rafael Quartermaine is only in town for a month but whilst the weather may be freezing the temperature is certainly rising steeply for Faith and Raf! With her three best friends acting as fairy godmothers, maybe Faith will, like Cinderella, manage to get to the ball and win her own Prince!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley too,
for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this finale to the Fairy Tales of New York series! Each story is set up such that it can be read as a standalone, but in this one the three other girls of the four who meet at boarding school (the basis for their connection) have already got their matches and it's just Faith who is left to find the man of her dreams. Unfortunately she's stuck at her family's pub, working late hours, never having made it to college to pursue an art career after her father's failing health resulted in her postponing her own dreams to keep his alive. When Rafael comes to town with his plan to introduce his Australian lager into small Mom and Pop operations around the country, it's good enough for Faith to consider putting it on tap on a trial basis. Having him in her bed on a trial basis too? Even better! But when the end of their limited time engagement comes, will it be so easy to say goodbye?

You can really feel for Faith in this story, wanting to be there for her father and keep his Irish Pub going strong, even at the risk of her own dreams getting left behind. She doesn't begrudge her choice, and just chalks it up to her duty - she's the caregiver in the family, and it isn't until Raf comes into her life and wants to take her out that she realizes how much of her time she has devoted to the family business (and how little to herself). Raf is a sexy, handsome, confidant man - but a commitment-phobe who believes in lighthearted flings but not true love. Though at first she is hesitant, Faith's friends encourage her to have fun with him and indeed she does, leading to some steamy love scenes between her and Raf. But of course, when the deeper emotions come into play, there are serious questions to ask, on both their sides. Faith is prepared for Raf to walk away, but he finds it's not so simple. I loved the two of them together and even though it's not a long story, they both experience some profound revelations in a short time, and learn that falling in love doesn't have to be a fairy tale. 5 stars for this delightful, sexy romance.

thank you to Netgalley for ARC

This story is about Faith and her happily ever after with Raf.
Faith, Mercy, Zelda and Dawn were best friends from St. John's academy. One night one of the girls decided to steal a wine got drunk and they were caught by sister.. They made a pact not to reveal who stole the wine.
Ten years later, they were all grown up and found love except Faith. Faith was still working at her family pub and taking care of his father. Raf is Mercy's friend from down under who is trying to promote new larger to Sullivan's. He was at New York for a month to promote his larger to american market. Both had crazy chemistry but they couldn't act upon it. It was work at first but things will heat up.
Faith gave up her dream to becoming an artist to be working along side his father. After losing her mother, she decided to look after her father.. She says she is really happy to look after her father and a pub but she seems she is taking all the responsibilities from all her siblings. Even though she has so many brothers.
She was crazy about Raf but her situation is pushing her back but Raf was consistent and he finally wins her over. When she finally opens up for love things doesn't go smoothly as it should. i thought Faith finally finds her love but her father's condition pulls them apart. Raf is back after a month of promoting his business and she is back to where she was before.. But realize she was missing something.. Her friends are still supporting her and helping her through her hard times.
She is finally letting her brothers take responsibilities and pursues her dream.
Finally at the epilogue tells happy endings for all her friends and reveals who actually stole the wine from St. Academy.
It was fun read and it was fun series.

The final tale in the Fairy Tales of New York series brings us to the fourth friend. A spin on Cinderella, Faith Sullivan gave up her dreams of becoming an artist when her father had a heart attack, instead taking over running of the family pub and care of her father. Her 3 friends have found their HEA, and she despairs finding happiness.
When Australian Rafael walks into Sully's to meet his friend Mercy, he is bowled over by the sassy bartender. Not only does he want to convince her to take on his Lager (in an Irish Bar, that is a battle), but also to go out with him. Her three friends (Fairy Godmothers?) convince her to take some time for herself and enjoy Rafe while he is in town. While Faith and Raf expect a month-long fling, her friends hope for something more.
There is a ball, fairy godmothers dressing her, and, of course, the clock strikes midnight (metaphorically)and the prince has to chase down his princess.
When she takes the time away from the Pub to be with Raf, she opens herself up to re-discovering her passion for art and her dreams.
The whole series has been a journey of wonderful, emotional reads, and this is no exception. All four friends are strong women, the kind of friends anyone hopes to have. Despite their separation, they stand by and support each other in finding their futures.
This was a great series to read and all four authors did an amazing job of working together, keeping the continuity of the stories and the characters. They fit together extremely well. I highly recommend the entire series.

Faith Sullivan used to dream of being a famous artist. But her dreams were crushed when her father had a heart attack and she had to go home to help him with their family bar, Sully’s. She has been there ever since. She doesn’t have much of a life when she is working all the time. She recently began seeing some of her old school friends and that has helped a little bit. But seeing them live their dreams and finding love has Faith feeling a little bit left out.

Australian Rafael Quartermaine used to live his dreams surfing until he was injured and had to give it up. Now the owner of Baron Lager, Raf is looking for a market in the US. Mercy Hernandez, a business associate, recommended Sully’s. She said it would be the perfect place to see how the customers would like it.

When Faith’s friend Mercy introduces her to Raf and explains how well she believes Baron Lager will do at Sully’s, Faith is a little put off at first. You can’t sell Australian beer in and Irish pub. But once Faith tries it, she is sold. Plus she finds out she will get to spend a lot more time with this hot Aussie.

Faith and Raf find themselves attracted to each other right away and give in to a fling while Raf is still in town. What could it hurt? Faith is due for a little fun after all the years of hard work she has been doing. Things get heated very quickly and Faith finds herself falling in love with Raf. What will happen when it’s time for him to go back to Australia? Will Faith be left heartbroken or will Raf find a way to makes things work between them?

I really enjoyed this steamy story. The passion was intense.

Last book of the Fairy Tales of New York series, this is the story of Faith, our Cinderella and Raf, our beer baron. Faith was seen in all three previous books and she seemed great, so I had a lot of expectations on that one. Amy Andrews did an awesome job in bringing Faith to life and getting her her HEA.

Faith is an artist at heart. She was supposed to go to Columbia studying art when her father JP had a heart attack and she volunteered to take care of him and the family pub, Sully's, essentially sacrificing her dreams to take care of her family. Now, years have past and she's still stuck working at Sully's every night, taking care of her father who refuses obstinately to get a surgery to help his heart. Her brothers aren't helping and she has virtually no life. Enter Raf, one of Mercy's friend. He's an Aussie, a beer producer determined to introduce his beer, the Baron, to the American market. In his point of view, Sully's represents the perfect pub to do a trial run. Between Raf and Faith, the sparks fly and he gets to make her take some time off with the help of her friends.

Faith is such a good person. Not many people would do what she does, letting all her dreams go in the interest of her family. I don't think I would have gone that far. I was glad to see her break free, finally. Raf is great, even if he's not as well developped as a character as Faith is.

This book didn't reach the precedent set by Taming the Beast but it was still a great romance about standing up for yourself, love and family.

I had been wondering who would be Cinderella Faith’s Prince Charming especially since two of her brothers wound up with her girlfriends. I was thinking maybe Zelda’s brother but no he went with Mercedes. A little foreshadowing when there is that from call from Australia in Taming the Beast. Perfect, Faith wouldn’t be moved to action unless it was someone brand spanking new to the overall storyline. An Aussie will do just fine.

The Cinderella references are in abundance throughout this story. A few times by the characters, but I have thought about the wicked stepmother. It could be Sully’s Bar. It is even what almost stops her from attending the ball. Certainly Faith is so tied to the place even though her brothers (much better than wicked stepsisters) want her to reclaim her art and her life. This story has given me pause for thought, which is the sign of a great well written book. Yes, it is predictable but along the way changes and revisions from the original story keeps it interesting. Besides, fairytales should always end with a happily ever after.

There have been several modern fairytale series recently, some quite good. Still this has been my favorite and I was sorry to see it end. Since all four women have their friendship back intact and the loves of their lives, it seems to be over. I have a suggestion, let’s move ahead in years and see what the four couples’ children are up too.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a copy.

Faith is Finn’s sister and best friends with Mercy, Zelda and Dawn. She runs the family pub and watches over their father. Although she is a bit envious of her friends’ new found relationships, she knows that there is just no time in her day for dating. That is until Mercy’s good friend Rafael walks through the door. Raf is the owner of several successful micro-breweries and would like to use her pub as a trial run with his Australian Lager. After a lot of convincing, and her father JP approving the idea, they add the lager to their list of stocked beer. At first Faith isn’t too sure about it, however, this would just mean Raf is sticking around and the thought of that has Faith buzzing with excitement.

This is the fourth book in the Fairy Tales of New York series and it did not disappoint! With each book following one of the four friends, the reader was able to feel their stories and enter into their lives. I quite enjoyed each woman’s story right down to their “happily ever after”. I also loved how each book began with the same prologue but with that particular characters take on the initial event. I was thrilled to see an epilogue as too many times I always feel wanting and needing more. It wrapped up the series beautifully! Not that I would ever be upset if a follow up story came out. 

In the final book of the series we follow Faith Sullivan and her journey to happily ever after. While her friends moved on to do great things and live their lives after boarding school, Faith stayed behind in the family bar, forgoing Columbia to take care of her father. As her friends and brothers find happiness she is left to feel like she's missing out on life. Enter super great friend Mercy, who points ex-surfer, turned beer baron Rafael Quartermaine in her direction.

Rafael and Faith have instant attraction but Faith is a little slow to really give into it because she's allowed her whole life to revolved around the bar and her father.

The story was engaging and super sweet; the ball scene was just aww. Dawn, Zelda and Mercy (Fairy Tales of New York #1-3) team up to play fairy god-mothers and get Faith to the "ball" where Prince Charming, I mean Rafael waits.

They have their ups and downs, but in the end Faith is able to find her voice and her true love. Rafael was just swoon worthy and the way he goes after Faith, just love. This story was a perfect ending to the series.
