This was another book I loved 'back in the day'. I homeschooled back pre-Internet and books like this were my Pinterest. I had several along this line. If you run across a copy in a garage sale or old bookstore, grab it! It's full of fun, easy things to make with kids, during the hot summer months, or snow days or anytime.

I bought this book originally more than twenty five years ago. A teacher friend recommended it to me and I used it myself when teaching church preschool and VBS. I always found it helpful and gave copies to my children’s kindergarten teachers.

I imagine in this time of covid and home schooling/Zoom classes, it would be very helpful. I’ve pulled my copy out again for Nana Daycare.

This book is chock full of things to make and do like how to make your own playdough, and more intricate crafts like how to carve a willow whistle or make a tin can lantern. There’s lots of stuff on weaving—over a dozen different ideas for looms, and many suggestions for materials such as weed weaving. There are tie-dye and batik how-to’s (my husband and I used to have a textile studio), and suggestions for making masks and costumes. One of my favorite ideas is to use chocolate pudding for finger painting (you can lick your fingers). Great book for teachers, parents, grandparents and/or the young-at-heart!
