Submission is survival…

Sarah
Trapped. Seduced. Betrayed.

Submission is the greatest revenge.

When I turn twenty-one, my family’s secret trust passes to me, and I’ll finally destroy Darius Bennett…if I survive my captivity. But vengeance comes at a cost, and Nicholas Bennett demands a male heir to ensure my safety.

I fell hard for my step-brother, but loving the man is easier than trusting a Bennett.

Hiding our relationship will protect us, but what will happen if the lies twist and the truth is revealed?

I have to save myself, because I don’t know if anyone else will.

Nicholas
Devoted. Consumed. Lost.

I’m out of options, out of allies, out of time.

I want it all—my step-sister and her heir, the money and empires—and I’ll stop at nothing to ensure they’re mine.
But saving the woman I love means either betraying her secret or losing the power that is my birthright.

How do I protect my family from Sarah Atwood, and how do I keep her safe from my father?

The answer?

I can’t.

And the sacrifice will ruin us both.

This one wasn't as good as the first one.

 photo tumblr_inline_nn8pr7mgyE1qc7qpt_500_zps9q5cunxd.gif

Things are more twisted, but for some reason I just felt like I pushed a "repeat" button and the story was not going to reach the end ( Cliffhanger ) ever.

 photo tumblr_m92vaj5oWk1r6udpt_zpsjtocdxgw.gif

It's still a good dark story, I just expected more.

3 STARS!

I've been waiting for Controlling Interests since the last, Takeover ended up with cliffhanger. So, let's reality check this book!

✔ Evil Step-father.
✔ Lusting after step-brother.
✔ 1st born Nicholas Bennett, the Heir of Bennett.
✔ 2nd born Maxwell Bennett, the muscle of the family.
✔ 3rd born Reed Bennett, the youngest who's always the last choice.
✔ Sarah Atwood, the captive. Kidnapped, degradation, humiliation and forced impregnation by the order from his evil step-father. Her son will united the Bennett and Atwood, so Darius could have all Atwood Ind without going through Sarah.
“... And I obeyed him. I accepted every touch and kiss and caress. But, even as Nicholas and my step-brothers enthralled me with pleasure and conquered me in lustful savagery, we all understood our places. I owned him. I owned them all.”

✔ The premise of the story still about Sarah's survival from Darius' twisted mind. The mission to 'kick' Darius from his throne in Bennett Corp, Sarah is working together with her three step-brother. Including Nicholas, who she has fallen in love with.
“I have no right to claim you, Sarah Atwood. In truth, I belong to you. I've been yours since the moment we met. Now every time I hold you, kiss you, or slip inside you, I lose even more of myself.”

Well, they have sex but not a lot. All of them. But not menage 3 vs 1. There is a scene where all of her step-brothers taking turn to fuck her. Each of them has different style and Sarah doesn't mind take it all. So, the whole point in their sexual activities still about getting her pregnant (although Sarah said she's infertile). But with Nicholas, everything is different for Sarah. Her love for him make he's somehow special. Poor Max and Reed :(
"You can't break me, Nicholas Bennett.”
His words promised only ravaging domination. "There's no need. You're already mine."

So above all that, nothing has changed since Takeover which is already failed. Yet, Nicholas hasn't give up still i'm so frustrated with him since book #1. Even with dual POV between Sarah and Nicholas, i never see a glimpse of Nicholas's plan. It was too suddenly failed. Ever time their plane crumbled, Darius has more sick trick for Sarah. I think Satan just take form in Darius' meat.

Darius is too powerful and like nothing can stop him. He's just like a super villain in a fantasy world that has super power and the MCs just ordinary people. Sigh. They're still in circle since Takeover which is taking too long in this entire story. Be careful with cliffhanger (again!) in the end. Nothing special in Controlling Interests so far. It ended up with 3 stars despite the difficulty to process the whole plot, it's a solid read. Can't wait to dive in Capital Risk, book #3!

Oh God. That cliff hanger was actually very disturbing. If it happened how I'm dreading it did then...ew.
Sarah was annoying as hell. She was so stupid! SHUT THE F*CK UP! She'd open her damn mouth and just ruin everything the b*tch!!!!!!! Victory would've been their's if she'd shut her f*cking mouth! Damn b*tch.
This story is messed up on soooo many levels but it's so intriguing at the same time.
I personally love the youngest brother, Reed. Poor guy wants nothing to do with his family and their load of f*cked up-ness.

EXTREMELY DEGRADING! GOT WORSE THAN FIRST INSTALLMENT!!!

AS ALWAYS, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO THE AUTHOR, I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW SICK, NASTY AND UNBELIEVABLY RIDICULOUS THIS STORY HAS GOTTEN! THIS IS MY LAST BOOK FROM THIS SERIES, THAT'S MY PERSONAL OPINION. I APPLAUD TO EVERY ONE THAT FINDS THIS STORY OF THEIR LIKING, WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE AND VIEW OF THINGS, SO I'M NOT TRYING TO DISCOURAGE ANYONE FOR READING STORIES ALIKE, ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!

*** SPOILER ALERT ***
WHO IN HER RIGHT MIND AND HAVING THE CHANCE TO ESCAPE SPECIALLY AFTER FINDING OUT THEY KILLED HER REAL BROTHERS IS GONNA STAY PUT IN A PLACE WHERE SHE'S BEING TORTURE, RAPE, HUMILIATED, BEATEN, AND EVEN SHARE TRIPLE RAPING, OH NO WAIT, NOW EVEN THE FATHER OF THOSE THREE PIGS RAPE HER TOO, AND ON TOP THEY''RE HOLDING/STEALING HER SHARES! WHY LEFT HER UNPROTECTED TO INVITE DANGER AT HER DOOR? OH YEAH, NOW SHE RUNS AND WAS IMPREGNATED BY THE GROSSES HUMAN BEING THE VERY FIRST TIME HE RAPES HER? HOPE NOT, BUT WITH THIS STORY YOU CAN ONLY EXPECT THE WORSE TO HAPPEN AS IT IS!

I HAVE READ DARKEST STORIES, WITH SAD OUTCOMES, SOME HAPPY IN A WAY EVEN. SHE'S NOT SACRIFICING TO SAVE SOMEONE, NOT EVEN HERSELF. WITH THE POWER SHE INHERIT AND PEOPLE IN THE OUTSIDE KNOWING SHE WAS BEING CAPTIVE IS SO RIDICULOUS HOW THIS PLOT DEVELOP!

ONE OF THE MAN RAPING HER IS THE MAN WHO CLAIMS TO LOVE HER, THE MAN THAT KEEPS REPEATING OVER AND OVER THAT SHE OWNS HIM. REALLY? HE PUSHES HER TO THE FLOOR AND ASKED HIS TWO BROTHERS, WHO'S NEXT? HE'S THINKING ON KEEPING HIS BROTHER SAFE BUT ALSO POWER AND WEALTH. SERIOUSLY? OH YEAH, THEY'RE 5 YEARS OLD, NO SORRY THEY'RE GROWN MAN 3 OF THEM CLAIMING TO DO WHAT THEY DO TO PROTECT HER. SHE DOESN'T EVEN PROTECT HERSELF, SHE'S THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO DESTROY EVERYONE FINANCIALLY AND WITH THE LEGAL SYSTEM!

OMG! I THOUGHT IN THIS BOOK THERE WAS GOING TO BE SOME CLOSURE OR AT LEAST DIGNITY!

DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IS FOR SOMEONE THAT HAVE SUFFER CAPTIVITY, PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VERBAL ABUSE IN REAL LIFE TO READ SOMETHING LIKE THIS? AND BEFORE YOU WONDER WHY SOMEONE THAT HAS GONE THROUGH THAT WILL READ STORIES LIKE THIS, IT MAY BE TO OVERCOME TRAUMAS; TO FIND ON THIS STORIES WHAT THEY COULDN'T IN REAL LIFE; FOR SOMETHING CALLED HOPE, OR FAITH, AND STRENGTH, OR MAYBE REALITY WITH A SAD OUTCOME.

“Nicholas’ steady heartbeat dulled the echoing h@ll screaming in my mind. I slept against him, clutching him, needing him, and seizing a moment of safety and peace I never thought I’d experience within a Bennett’s arms.”

5 huge, fat, disturbing stars!! This series is intense and so crazy. I sacrificed my night of sleep so I could read this! And I’m not sorry one bit!!! I love, love, love this series!!

Nicholas is in love with Sarah but he wants to heir and the money that comes with it! This is such a tortured love story with so many twists and turns!! I have been consumed by this series and I love it so! I don’t want to go into too much detail with my review and worry anyone but this series is amazing!!!

I love a good dark story so when this popped up in my news feed on Facebook I bought it. While the story is dark it is not typical of the dark books I have read in the past. That said, it intrigued me. The characters and the settings this story takes place made it an entertaining twist on the dark I have become familiar with.

The characters are so well-defined. Creating a picture of each character was so easy. Each had a unique trait that drew me to them and I admit I fell for the tormentor, the evil and the bad boys once again. Or should I said I fell three times, and I fell hard. 3 of the main leading characters just draw you in. Charismatic, dominate and easy-going, each in their own right, they each deserve to be feared. The fourth leading male character .. well I can still taste the bitterness and hate he has left in my mind. A fearful, heartless man who will command your attention.
The female lead character is written well and shows so many sides to her personality as the story unfolds. She is strong, weak, determined, defeated, loved, hated and desperate.

I liked the element that the story surrounded itself in. I found it to be creative and interesting. While the author sets up the dark scenes, she lets the reader create most of the details in their mind. The same goes for most of the sex scenes. While we read the set up, the author does not overload on description or details.

You can’t help but want the lead female character to survive. You can’t help but believe the whispers of the three brothers who create hope and desire.

An intriguing, suspenseful and shocking story that will keep you turning the pages, The Takeover Series is worth the read if you enjoy dark erotic romance. Filled with twists and turns, shocking and breath holding moments The Takeover Series is a page turner.

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Takeover by Lana Grayson was absolutely amazing; it was intense, dark, twisted and outright disturbing yet I couldn't put it down until I devoured the book completely.

Sarah was strong, stubborn yet feisty and I admired her fighting/defiant spirit throughout. No matter what happened to her at the Bennett estate; she picks herself up and fights back. My heart literally broke for what she endured; her pain/hurt echoed throughout the whole book. She was naive, impulsive and sometimes just plain stupid and she pays for it by being beaten brutally. I liked her fighting spirit but at times I wished she would have thought things through.

Nicolas, Reed and Max were raised to prioritise family but Darius's bidding leaves every man broken and haunted. Sarah had a hard time trusting her stepbrothers and I don't blame her - trust is earned and these three definitely didn't earn it by kidnapping her.

Darius was a seriously deranged psycho. He was creepy, cold, violent and twisted.

The plot was complicated with lots of twists, turns and secrets. My heart was racing, my eyes were tearing yet despite all the darkness it was sexy. This was quite a long read so be prepared. The author has truly outdone herself and she exceeded my expectations in every way possible.

Gah!!!! Six. Whole. Days. That's too long to know how this all ends! OMG, I don't know how I'm going to last but I'll be refreshing my screen at midnight on Wednesday so I can download as soon as Capital Risk goes live.

Sarah is still trying to win this twisted game of power she's been caught in. The unexpected bond between her and her step brothers can only go so far because Darius knows how to fight dirtier. His evil knows no bounds and the Bennett boys are floundering to protect Sarah.

So much going on and poor Sarah is the innocent pawn in this power struggle. She's tried playing with the "big boys" but her inexperience in the corporate world and her desire to protect her step brothers, hinders her ability to truly play dirty.

I MUST know how and when the evil Darius is brought down. SIX. WHOLE. DAYS. Eeep!!

Good, but I expected more

Ever watch a tv series and think the characters are stuck in an endless cycle? That's how I felt after a bit when reading the second in the series. I do reluctantly like the story (despite it testing my morals), I'm iffy about the characters, but I want to see how it all turns out. However, some of the moves the characters made functioned only as a plot point to delay the conclusion or manufacture angst. Eventually, that got old, particularly when Sarah would do something that worked against her. I also found the editing errors more disruptive in this book: missing words, incorrect word order or words, extra words, and the dreaded "break" instead of "brake". All in all, I found the second book less engaging than the first. And yet, I find myself wanting to know how it all will end.

Absolutely infuriating and trite. The first book had such promise for the series. This didn't need to be three books long. Every plot point was executed for utmost melodrama and devastation. Sarah has absolutely no agency throughout the whole thing, and having her get raped by Darius at the end to force a "Whose baby is it?!" panic was tasteless and lazy. Can you say "damsel in distress"? Her idiot "brothers" left her completely defenseless with no security, no weapons, no ability to defend herself, failing as usual to protect her. Ugh. I love dark writing; I hate classless, LAZY dark writing, which the whole damn thing has in spades.

Omg where to start! I am on pins and needles now waiting for the conclusion of this series! Sarah may have almost all the power but will she be able to use and get rid of her enemies? Darius has it in for his step daughter. If his boys can't do it, maybe he should take matters into his own hands.... Her mother thinks she a little crazy like her father and doesn't believe her about her new husband and how evil he is. Nicholas will just a boy do anything to save the girl he loves... Anything.

Controlling Interests. Hm.

The second book in the Legacy series picks up where Takeover left off. Those damn Bennetts are addicting! This book brings more to the story. Darius, that fuck. I hate him even more. Nick needs to get his shit together before he loses her for good. Max, he means well. Reed, he's going to end up dead if he's not careful.

That ending! HOLY FUCK! Come on book 3!

One of my fellow reading friends recommend this series to me. She had warned me that this was a intense series with twist and turns you are not expecting. After reading just a quarter through the first book I realized she was not lying and was definitely in for a experience I was not expecting.

I just finished the book and am still confused on how I felt after reading. There are so many things about this book that are "forbidden" in todays society but yet were so exciting and interesting to read/experience along side the characters. The love Sarah has for her step-brothers Nick, Max and Reed started with such hate and loathing but turned into such a warm love like we read in so many other romance novels. One minute you are hating the brothers and the next you want to love them like Sarah and hug away the pain that their father put on them.

My emotions of each character seems to change after every turn. Within pages I was first angry with Nick, Max and Read and the with Sarah for always making things more difficult.

I do have to warn readers there are portions of this book that can be disturbing in nature. If you are a reader who is into more of the corny happy go lucky love stories this might not be the series for you. There are times in this book that will make you look at yourself and wonder why you are routing for the story to go in certain directions.

Enjoy the book for what it is and the love story that does unfold through out the three books.

Well I started this to see if Sarah would come to her senses since she was in "love" with the man who first raped her and continues to let his brothers have sex with her (while he watches) lets his dad still beat her yet he loves her but his money means more than she does to him. They are still trying to get her pregnant though she is infertile they start her on fertility drugs and what???? Sure enough Darious the father of love of her life mind you who beats her, degrades her and then rapes her himself and low and behold she gets pregnant then it leaves you hanging till the "next" book to maybe find out if it his or which brothers. The same thing over and over as the first book they continue to rape her to get her pregnant only deviance is the dad rapes her in this one I finally skipped through after making it half way and read the end to the book. Total waste of pages. And to call this a romance is just WRONG. This is a story about RAPE, KIDNAPPING, TORTURE. There is no Love. Maybe Stolkholm Syndrome.Even the boys had enough sense to know if she had a child he would kill her to get it because that's the only way she would give it up.

Amazing story !
It's sometimes very , very dark like the one before but oh so amazing.
You have everything in this book.
I laugh.
I'm afraid.
I weep.
I swoon.
I sweat.
It's just never boring.
If you are not afraid for the characters , then you laugh with them.
If you don't laugh with them , you swoon.
If you don't swoon , you get hot and sweaty.
And then the one thing that i thought would never happen , happened and i am like NNOOOOOO !!
I love Nicholas , but his stupid decisions get people hurt.
Sarah her stupid decisions also get people hurt ( mostly her ) , but i understand why she does them.
Who would not in her situation ?

I am really enjoying this trilogy and can't wait to start the conclusion. The story is captivating and intriguing.

I rated 4 stars however as the most darkest scenes were 'fade to black' and didn't appease my lil deviant mind. And I was kind of hoping for some dirtier sex scenes and menages between the 4 of them. The heroine was almost annoying in her actions that had consequences to those her were trying to protect her. That 'Daddy' is one seriously sadistic sicko that I look forward to seeing lose everything! 3 sexy stepbrothers, oh my!

In the Second book of the Takeover Sarah starts to trust in her step brothers that they will keep her safe and do what they believe needs to be done to keep her that way. Her step brothers also try even harder to get her pregnant in hopes that it will eventually stick and save her life. Sarah gets to go to events but is on a short leash with threats to her mother if she misbehaves in any way. Nicholas falls hard for an Atwood which is a bad thing as its his families biggest enemy when it comes to business, but realizes that he would rather have her then live with out her by his side.

What I enjoyed most about Controlling Interests is watching Sarah fall in love with each of her step brothers but know she loves loves Nicholas and he is her one. Sarah being strong through everything and willing to do whatever it is she can to get her trust and out of Darius Bennetts grasp forever with a side of revenge on what she has been through. Nicholas and his brothers being there for Sarah but knowing that they can not act like so infront of others as it might put her in worse danger.

This book is dark and has lots of dark moments. This book has Sarah who knows her secret and has let her step brothers in on it and they try all that they can to save her life, Darius will stop at nothing to get the Atwood-Bennett Heir no matter what the cost, lots of secrets in this book and trust will be tested at every turn and maybe even lost, some tortures will never be able to be forgotten and will give Sarah Nightmares for life, a love story. If you like stories like this, then Controlling Interests is a must!

In book two, we find Sarah is trapped by her step father’s quest for power and for a child from her body. From the previous book which carries over into book 2, She had been kidnapped, made to submit her body to her three stepbrothers pretty much against her will at first and now she willingly does it although at times she feels like she is forced to because if she doesn’t, her stepfather has her beat. All so her stepfather can gain control of her shares of the company. There is so much HATE for one man-Darius Bennett –and his downfall is what she wants, needs and what she survives on. In order to get what she wants she has to live to her 21st birthday to get her trust and if she lives, it will be turned over and then there is the company which her brothers had started up but died before they could live to see to fruition. Again, another reason to hate her stepfather-he’s a murderer.

Sarah has made a deal with her 3 stepbrothers – they will protect her and they will get her body to keep her alive. At times she with them, seduced, trapped and then betrayed. Along the way, Sarah fell in love with one of her captors- Nicholas-the heir apparent-the prince –while the other brothers she feels love for but isn’t the same as she feels for Nick. Max is at times brutal and makes her crave the pain , while Reed has the mind games down to a pat. He isn’t brutal but he is good at the games. Still its Nick that her body has come to crave. But Nick continues to send Sarah to their beds every night to have them bed Sarah’s body…for a baby to come from the union. What a twisted , seductive taboo union comes from this. It started off to please the stepfather but in the end it comes to protect Sarah from Darius .

The ending of the book took me from one extreme high to such an extreme low. I was left with a cliffhanger and wondering where does Sarah go from here. WOW there were so many twists and emotional turns in this book , I didn’t know what was going to happen from one page to another. There were some truly heartbreaking moments in this book and some glimpses of light. Hoping book 3 will give up that rainbow that I know is there. I am hoping Sarah and her 3 stepbrothers catch a break finally and that even Darius get his. Oohh, and don’t get me started on that board of directors --let me just say, I do not want to give any spoilers away-there is going to be reckoning with them. I was at times in tears and at times yelling for them to kill Darius and at time praying for Sarah to have her HEA with her man(men). I pray in book 3 she and her man/men get this.

* note this book ends in a epic cliffhanger*

I received this book for free as an ARC for a honest review.

This was one of the most gritty, disturbing and frightening book series I have read. The range of emotions I felt changed from page to page. Sarah is strong-minded, willful and brave while being physically weak and timid. The abuse she she endured would have broken a normal person within the first few days of capture. Her life was destroyed over and over again at the hands of Darius Bennett but she never waivered. Never gave up and never let him win.

Nick, Max and Reed never had a normal life being the sons of a monster. Never did they know love or compassion until Sarah Atwood was forced into captivity and raped over and over again to breed a Bennett heir. While being controlled and abused by their monster of a father, they learned resiliency, bravery and forgiveness from the person they were raised to hate the most. Emotional, physical and mental abuse were all they knew.

This book was beyond disturbing in so many ways. The range of depravity exceeded everything that social norms allow. But the perseverance of Sarah and eventually the Bennett brothers kept me rooting for their success. The hatred of Darius and his sadistic board members kept me hungry for their demise. One minute I hate the brothers for torturing and abusing Sarah and the next minute I want to hold them and protect them from the monster that is their father.

I could not put the book down. As confused as I was, and still am, about my feelings while reading the book, I can't say I didn't enjoy it. The writing and the story were superb. The series was dark and intense. And the twists and turns are gut wrenching. Enjoy the series for what it is. It is not for the faint hearted.

I finished Book 1 - Takeover to begin this book immediately to preserve my sanity because I had to know what could possibly happen next. Sarah the "heroine" in this book is coming into her own in this book but there were times I was yelling at her because she seemed to willingly put herself into harms way too often. Sometimes when she should have hung back and blended into the woodwork she antagonized her main tormenter, her Stepfather Darius Bennett. You also see her love for Nicklaus developing all the while she makes her peace and comes to love hear of her other two stepbrothers.Max and Reed as she comes to crave and enjoy all the "naughty" things they each do to her on their own terms. The goal is to breed Sarah since the only way she believes she can revenge what she believes was her father's murder is through a hidden clause in his will but she needs to buy some time because Sarah has a secret and keeping that secret is what she believes will keep her alive while she plots her revenge. Again, this is not a book for anyone that has issues with societal taboos surrounding the darker aspects of sex with multiple partners that happen to be related by marriage.

Holy book hangover! I have to say: Grayson has really outdone herself, and surprised me in the process--a rather difficult stunt to pull off. The first book in this series, Takeover, is the first taste I had of her writing. I was really pleased with it, enjoyed the plot, the character development, the way she wove the story. I found myself anxiously awaiting the release of this second installment.

But this... I was unprepared for this. Never have I read a trilogy where the middle installment was even *better* than the first. I mean... That just doesn't happen! I'm blown away. I read, on average, two dozen books per month. Nothing surprises me anymore. But this? This floored me. I'm still trying to gather my wits.

The best part? Her writing. Her way with words. It's fresh, it's now, it's relevant and real. It seemed as though, as an author, she was emboldened by previous success, and it loosened her restraint as an artist here. She was more daring in her play with her medium, and it *really* hit its mark. I wasn't reading the characters' thoughts, I was hearing them. I didn't read their emotions on the page, I felt them.

The story itself is unusual and intriguing. It's line is complex, but not confusing. It's pace is fast, but not overwhelming. It's one of those books you just can't put down. By turns, it is maddening, tender, cruel, and endearing. You may very well want to throw it across the room a time or two (aim for something soft like I did with my Kindle when I threw it three times during this tale) but you won't be able to leave it flung. You will *burn* to keep going, you will *have* to know what happens next. Now, there *is* a cliffhanger, but the promise of happily ever after is our comfort in the wasteland of waiting.

All in all, it was a fantastic read. You really owe it to yourself to dive into this series. If you've read the first installment, grab this now and take up these characters again--it only gets better. If you haven't started it, I urge you to go back and pick up book 1--you'll genuinely be glad you did.

Well done, Grayson--you've coaxed not only an enthusiastic 5 stars from me, but words of praise too. Now I'm off to wallow in the wasteland...

This series comes with a warning at the beginning saying that this is a dark, sexy, dangerous and wild. The romance is over the top, rough and remorselessly passionate. It is a ménage romance but there is no cheating, and also it is a taboo book, but characters aren’t blood related. If after the warning you thing you can handle it, you will have a great read ahead.
This does sadly suffer with second book syndrome, but I think that’s because the first book was so wow, and it has major cliffage!! We continue with Sarah’s story and the complicated relationship she has with her step brothers, that follows the love hate relationship and crosses the line on a regular basis. I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated the characters. There was such a warmth to them one moment and then a downright need to reach in and punch them in the next page. It’s very conflicting, Overall it’s a good read, its dark and disturbing and hot and heavy at the same time. Don’t read the book if you have triggers but if you don’t and you enjoy a book on the darker end of the scale, you need to check this series out.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review.
This was a great romantic suspense. It was full of page turning mystery, edge of your seat suspense, and lots of steamy scenes. Definitely recommend.

Holy Insanity Batman! Lana Grayson upped the ante in Controlling Interests! My mind is blown!

Sarah Atwood is still a prisoner of the Bennetts. She's still not pregnant, and it's driving step father Darius to new acts of evil to achieve this end. The Bennett's have a huge secret, and are running out of time before they lose it all. Nick Bennett has fallen in love with Sarah, but still won't stop step daddy dearest from the evil abuse towards her. Max means well, and Reed could end up severely hurt or dead as he's the only one who's willing to go on the run with Sarah. However, she's done waiting for the plans to succeed, and will stop at nothing to destroy Darius, even if it destroys her and Nick's love in the process.

I'm having a very hard time finding the words for this book. It's such an intense experience reading it, I feel like I'm there at the mansion, but can't set it on fire. Lana Grayson's character development is AMAZING! She kept me on the edge of my seat with all the layers and twists surrounding them. I still HATE Darius, and want him dead, but don't want to harm the sons as much. Don't get me wrong, I'm still super pissed off at them for not trying harder to stand up to dear old dad, but they are growing on me a bit. Even though I understood it to a degree, I actually got mad at Sarah for not keeping her mouth shut when it could have ended in her death. The author promises a HEA but after that cliffhanger, I'm very anxious to see how she pulls it off, as she writes twists and turns no one sees coming. The third book can't come soon enough since I'm already losing my mind at needing to know how it all ends. Yes, I'm so addicted, may never go back to my comfort zone, so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

In Controlling Interests, the plot continues. As Sarah learns more about her father and who he really was, the further into hell Sarah falls. She continues to fight Darius as his obsession to control Sarah and Atwood Industries thickens. Nicholas, Max and Reed do everything and anything to protect Sarah, but often her mouth and stubborn rebellious streak gets her into more trouble. Darius will stop at nothing to get an Bennett-Atwood heir, even if he has to be the one to impregnate her. Sarah and Nicholas try to come to grips with their feelings for one another. The more time together only strengthens their desires and need for one another. Sarah questions if she could really trust her step-brothers, even when time after time they have come to her rescue. Nicholas has the burden of protecting not only Sarah but Max and Reed as well. Trying to find a way to destroy Darius is not an easy task while trying to keep control of both the Bennett and Atwood companies and the woman that he has fallen in love with. He has to give something up in order to win. But at what cost?
There were so many twist and crazy turns in this book that my head was throbbing. Sarah endured so much more, both physically and emotionally. I didn't think that Darius could be even more evil, boy was I wrong. We also saw a more sensitive Nicholas, Max and Reed. How these three men truly have good in them, and how one woman brought that out in them. Counting down the days for book 3. How will it all end and who will finally put a stop to this madness?

Definitely not for the faint of heart. Heed the author's warning when it says the book contains scenes and subject matter that may be difficult to read. This is a very dark romance with some themes that aren't "nice" at all. The writing is very good and my reaction to this book is visceral. I'm reminded of the stories of prisoners of war tortured until they "turned" on their countries. I kinda feel coated in filth for having read this. It pushed me so far out of my comfort zone, I'm leery of reading the final book in the series.
