Long Island, New York #2

Chained to Mineola

Carly Eubanks returns to Mineola, the town where she grew up, for a family funeral. Before returning home to California, Carly drives down the street she lived on as a child only to discover that the tree in her old front yard is scheduled to be removed so the street can be widened.
With the help of her cousin, Patricia, and her high school sweetheart, Ted, Carly stages a protest that includes chaining herself to the tree, until the City Council changes it's mind about the roadwork.
During Carly's sit-in protest, her niece begins a pen pal correspondence with a wheelchair bound young man in Scotland as part of a class project.
The boy's uncle, Duncan, is involved every year in the planning and construction of the Enchanted Forest, an event that draws tourists from all over the world to the town of Pitlochry, in the Scottish Highlands.
Duncan and Carly are both environmentalists concerned with saving trees for future generations. Although thousands of miles apart, it seems they are destined to meet now that there is a "family connection."

I was given a gifted copy by Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful reading. A book about honesty and perseverance, about love and dedication.
There is one thing I don’t understand: part of the story is set in Scotland with Scottish characters, so why is all the time Duncan calling Logan “boyo” if that word is not Scottish but Irish?
Apart from that and several typos and words being written twice, the book is really enjoyable and a good reading for all ages.
