I really enjoyed the first book in the Skyrider series, but I was slightly let down by First Battle. It started off strong (with a hostage situation including two adorable children), but then the rescue attempt just became more and more implausible. She kept stressing that Skyrider, Jamin, and Michael wouldn’t have been so successful if the Earthers weren’t so soft and unready for battle. I would buy this excuse once, but multiple times was too much for me. That being said, it was still fast paced and fun. I’ll definitely read the next one.

Okay sometimes this author’s writing style obscures what’s actually happening and makes it hard to understand what just happened, but the physics is incredible and I love the relationships and hijinks!
