Reckless Surrender

Rate this book
[Reckless Surrender is book two in the Made for Love series but can be read as a STAND ALONE novel. Written for audiences 18+ years of age.]

Three and a half years ago, Daphne walked into my shop, kicked open the door to my soul, invited herself inside, and got comfortable. By the time I realized she’d made herself at home, it was too late to kick her out. Now, I’m in love with her. But I’m not her boyfriend. She’s not my lover. We’re just friends…

Trevor’s it for me. I love him so much it drives me crazy. But we’re broken—two battered people whose souls have been ravaged by the world. We decided a long time ago that we wanted to love each other but not attempt to fix one another. Instead, we give each other as much as we can. I’m beginning to wonder if that’s ever going to be enough…

Daphne is my best friend, our bond forged by a shared mistake that left us both brokenhearted. Her happiness is wrapped in the tattooed package of a man named Trevor, and I want her to have him. I'm bold enough to do anything to push those two together, even if that means consorting with the enemy—her brother, Roman. All I have to do is convince his stubborn ass that my plan will work...

What I love about Reckless Surrender is that it's not like The Promises We Keep. As I was writing it, I kept thinking--wow, the whole feel of this book is really different. I was certainly challenged with this story because my characters pushed me outside of my own boundaries. I felt as though I had to be brave and let them be who they wanted to be. I don't know how many times I told myself to get out of their way to enable them to exist outside of my limitations. When I listened, I was able to write them from an unapologetic standpoint. It was fun--and I love them. I hope you love them, too!

I am reading the Made for Love series in reverse, but the good news is the books are standalone!
ARC provided by R.C. Martin and the New Adult Book Club Group.
For more of my reviews visit Carlene Inspired.

Told from the alternating POVs of four friends, Reckless Surrender explores the thin line between friendship and more. What do you do when the friend you've sworn to never fall for is the person you know you love? What do you do when a bet turns into real feelings? And how do you overcome the past that has kept you from ever saying yes to a relationship before?

I found myself falling in love with every single character in Reckless Surrender, but the two main males had to be my favorite. Roman and Trevor are definitely more than what first meets the eye and far more than their reputations lead them to be. Their POV's were entertaining, enlightening, and brought the most bang to the story for me. I genuinely enjoying watching both men come to their senses and grow out of their pasts. The two girls, Daphne and Logan, are the least likely friends ever. They bond over a situation most girls hate each other for and provide each other the support they both are lacking. All four characters have heavy pasts, pasts that R.C. Martin took great care into explaining and detailing so the reader can understand the characters as they are now. However, R.C. Martin doesn't let the characters dwell in their pasts or let them be damaged, each character was pushing for the best version of themselves, whether it was in their careers, their relationship with God, or their general relationships. Each character was distinct, with a unique dialogue and perspective, and I loved that about Reckless Surrender.

I was incredibly impressed that R.C. Martin gave such heavy pasts to the characters, but she did an amazing job of showing that people are not their previous circumstances and they can grow to be different and better. Though the themes are heavy, ranging from religious beliefs to children and loving oneself, the book is a lighthearted read that made me smile through the entirety. The drama that unfolds in this book is so realistic and I loved watching the characters go through it together. Reckless Surrender is very lengthy, but it is so worth sticking it out to see the complications of each relationship be worked through and love to prevail. I highly recommend R.C. Martin to anyone looking for a new author to read and Made for Love is an incredible series to spend your time with.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my review in any shape or form.

This was heartbreaking and beautiful all wrapped up into one story.

I’ll be honest when I first started Reckless Surrender I was really confused as to how all these stories were going to connect and to be honest I had no idea what was going on.

Soon, I was engrossed in the story. I was invested in the characters, I needed to know their story to know they were going to be okay. I was drawn to them, the writing and the story. If it wasn’t for mommy duties and sleep I would’ve finished this a lot sooner.

The story is told in four points of view, Daphne, Roman, Trevor and Logan’s. At times their voices all meshed together and I wasn’t sure whose point of view I was reading that’s what I didn’t like about the book but to be honest that was the only thing I didn’t like. I personally love having multiple perspectives, I love seeing the story threw the eyes of different characters. I get to see things from their perspective and I like being in each of their minds. Reckless Surrender is no different. It is also a friends to lovers and a enemies to lovers mixed into one beautiful story. KUDOS R.C. MARTIN! KUDOS! You wrapped two of my favorite things together and created a story that had me ignore the outside world so I could live in the world of Reckless Surrender.

Reckless Surrender gives the perfect message of surrendering to your fears and doubts and taking a leap of faith and hoping that things turn out for the best. Of course, like any story that is well written I was left with wanting more, I have a million questions going through my head wondering if all these characters are okay after I finished the book. That’s how much R.C. Martin made me care about the characters. I just wanted to make sure they were okay and I wanted to know more about them.

Some parts were a bit cliché but for me, that didn’t take away from the story like it does most stories. I think it worked out well with the storyline.

I loved that each character was unique and had it's own problems to deal with. I especially loved how they dealt with real issues learning to overcome their fears and just try to have some faith that things would work out for the best. It was something new and refreshing.

What I absolutely LOVED about this story was how religion played into it. And it wasn’t a preachy kind of religion story that I often ignore, roll my eyes and just count to ten because my patience is running thin. Oh no, this was actually beautifully tied into the story. I absolutely loved it. I loved how R.C. Martin didn’t preach Christianity, she didn’t force religion down your throat nor the characters either. It was beautifully played out and tastefully done. I have never read anything like that and I am seriously impressed. Each character discovered religion in their own personal way and had their own interpretation, it was beautifully.

I am definitely going to look into reading the first book and definitely the third book that’s coming soon.

I absolutely loved this book. We were introduced to the characters in The Promises We Keep; however this book can be read as a STANDALONE! Daphne & Trevor have a relationship like a lot of people have and are afraid to cross it for the chance to rip it apart. Then we have Logan and Roman whom are complete opposites and can't stand each other.
RC came out of her box with this book by putting some hot and steamy scenes in it.
Reckless Surrender was different from TPWK but yet it was the same the way she brought God and religion and beliefs into it. People fall off the path everyday not only because of their own problems but also how cruel other Christians can be and this book shows you an example of a person that is a result of it. Now with that said this is NOT a book that is going to "Preach" to you. Take a chance on love you never know until you try.

This was a great book, I enjoyed it even more than the first one. I love how this author can work so many main characters and different story lines into one book and not over whelm the story line. Logan's character really won me over in this book. Throughout the first book, I really didn't like her. In this book we got to see a whole new side to her and learned how she became the way she is. I also enjoy how the author starts in the past so we can learn more about the characters then progresses forward, it's not rushed like some authors do. Daphne and Trevor were my favorite characters in this book. They are so cute and loveable. Over all, fabulous book and amazing series so far!

This can be read as a standalone but the characters were introduced in The Promises We Keep, book one in the Made For Love Series.

Daphne stole a little piece of my heart in The Promises We Keep. Even though we only got a small glimpse of her, she was so mysterious yet compelling. Then once you add the unique non-relationship that she has with Trevor, and I couldn't wait to read their story. I must say that RC Martin did not let me down. There was just enough detail and back story so that you don't have to read book one. Reckless Surrender is captivating and heartfelt. I was able to connect with the characters in so many ways. RC pulls you into the story with her writing. She makes you feel every moment as if you are experiencing it yourself. I loved Reckless Surrender and I can't wait to see what RC comes up with next!

After a careless mistake, Daphne found herself in an unfortunate situation. Through that situation, she meets Logan who becomes her strength, as her parents turn their backs on her. This causes Daphne to not only lose faith in them but in God. As she faces the obstacles before her, she learns that it was never God that hurt her but God's people. As she finds her faith in Him again, she works to forgive those who hurt her in the past.

Trevor has known a lot of pain in his 28 years. He believes that he doesn't deserve real happiness. That pain has led him to live a life where he holds everyone close to him at a distance. Until he meets Daphne. She burrows her way into his heart without him even realizing it. Yet, once again he's afraid that if she knew how he truly felt about her he'd screw up their friendship. As Trevor grows throughout the story, he learns that by refusing the happiness he could potentially find with Daphne, he's slowly pushing her away.

Roman evolves in Reckless Surrender. He has deal breakers when it comes to relationships. The biggest one of them all is that he wants to be with someone who believes in God. As the story progresses and he works to help Daphne find her faith in God again, Roman learns that he shouldn't count someone out just because their beliefs don't align with his own.

Logan's beautiful and she knows it. She puts on a tough exterior but on the inside she just wants to love and be loved. I didn't like Logan when I first met her in The Promises We Keep and I didn't think it was possible that I ever could, but RC made me see a different side of Logan in Reckless Surrender. She's more than just a huge flirt who goes after every hot guy in a bar, she's selfless and she'd do anything for those she loves.

This was really different, I loved the writing! It was sweet, heartfelt and entertaining.

There are 4 povs and 2 couples, so sometimes it felt like a tv series with lots of characters. The book is really big (508 pages) and some people don't like to read those books, but I think when it's done right it's great, because you get to know everybody really well and you're able to picture yourself clearly in that reality. This often happens to me with Kristen Ashley books, which is what I like most about long reads, besides good characters of course.

So it's simple really. Daphne and Trevor are best friends, they've been in love with each other for years but they're afraid to take the next step. Yeah, they're really stuck, you need to read to understand their reasons. Enter Logan and Roman with a brilliant plan to get them together, ok maybe not so brilliant lol it is what it is, but it really worked for me!

The books in this series are on kindle unlimited so I'll probably continue the series :) This is the second book but it can be read as a standalone, I chose this one because I liked this blurb better.

P.S.: Some readers don't like to read about religion beliefs in their romances so just a heads up, the author talks about how each of the characters experiences religion in their lives, how one believes in it, another doesn't. It was not discussed in a preachy way and as a catholic I loved it.

Wow. What can I say about this book? I absolutely loved this story! RC, you killed it. This is the second story in the Made for Love series, but it can also be read as a standalone. We meet Daphne and Trevor, in The Promises We Keep, and we also have Logan and Roman! I was able to connect with these characters, and I was hooked in the first chapter!

Daphne and Trevor has one of those relationships where they know there is something there between them, but they don't want to cross that line. Little do they know, they crossed that line a long time ago. Logan and Roman are finally fed up with Daphne and Trevor's relationship and decide that it is time to convince them that they are great together, no matter what it takes. Trevor figures out that if he does not make himself happy, and potentially finding happiness with Daphne, he is pushing her away.

The scenes in this story are going to make you fan yourself, but it also brings the emotional side to it. Will these two learn that they need to stop fighting their feelings for each other and realize they need each other.

Given an ARC for an honest review! Trevor and Daphne are two people that find each others comfort during tough times. RC Martin takes you on an emotional ride with these two. Have you ever had feelings for a friend but you didn't want to act upon them because of fear of ruining the friendship? Trevor and Daphne's characters are well developed. RC Martin has a way with pulling you into the story and letting you feel all the emotions of her characters. There is love, pain and heart warming moments. Do you have that one person in your life that no matter what is happening around you, they always have your back? Great read!

I was conflicted reading this. Now I'm not a religious person, not at all and had I known that this book had any mention of God or that the characters were strong believers I wouldn't have given this book a second chance. Now that would have been a mistake, because I really did enjoy this book.

Now most book are about one couple, it will have two main characters and many supporting characters, some of these supporting characters may have a big impact on the story, however throughout the book you know that it is still and always will be about the one main character. This book was different. For me this book was about 2 couple and four main characters. Most people will say that it was about Trevor and Daphne but for me it was also about her best friend Logan and her Brother Roman. And it was through these four characters that the story was told.

Daphne and Trevor both have a dark past. A past that has made them who they are today. A past that has made them wary of relationships. A past that has made them both vulnerable. A past that has caused them to hold back. It's their pasts and the darkness that lurks within them that draws them together.
They meet in his tattoo shop as Daphne (who hates needles) wants a tattoo as a tribute to her past and the pain she was feeling. She is so scared of needles that she blurts out her past so that she cant concentrate on the pain of the needle and she asks Trevor to talk to her to put her mind at rest. I think this is where they first see each other and first see the hurt they carry inside of one another. They forge a friendship that grows and grows with time. For 3 years, they become as thick as thieves. They become close and they help each other get through the bad days. They love each other and all their friends can see that. They admit to loving each other but believe as broken as they are they aren't capable of being anything more than friends and they are both happy with that. Until they aren't. With their pasts haunting them they are both too afraid to take that leap and admit that they want more. This is where Logan and Roman come into the story. Logan is Daphne's best friend and they make a bet. When Logan (the not had a date in 4 years Logan) gets a boyfriend then Daphne will tell Trevor she wants more. Logan decides she needs a boyfriend fast so she consult with Roman, Daphne's brother. These two don't get a long and bicker like crazy but decide that they will be fake boyfriend/girlfriend to help Daphne move on with her life.

For me it was Logan and Roman's story that got me. Don't get me wrong I really do love both Trevor and Daphne, but we all knew from the start that they were meant to be. It was Logan's relationship with Roman that I really enjoyed seeing develop. They just made it work. The friendship that developed and grew between them just made you really root for them. They too had their problems with love in the past but through the bet they managed to get over it. They learned to live with what had happened and accept it.

Roman was the one with a strong belief in God and you could really see that. But it was how everyone else view him that really got me interested. Trevor wasn't a believer but he was curious. All four characters had a different relationship with HIM and it's nice to see that it's not all conventional.

About half way through I did think it was feeling a bit long and I was ready to be finished with it, but I carried on. I'm glad I did too because by the time the end of the book came I just wanted to keep reading more.

I'm aware this is a long winded review but I really did enjoy this and for some reason my fingers just kept typing. If you are thinking of reading this I say give it a go :)

This book is not a short read, so settle in for the duration. It is billed as a standalone book within the series but I have to say that while the book reads really, really well on its own and there are plenty of details and history – I think reading the first book would help you get the gist of not only the characters but the authors writing style.
In the first book you are introduced to Daphne – it is a fleeting glimpse it is enough to rouse the suspicions and pique interest.
The relationship or not as it is with Trevor was intriguing to say the least and this is their story and it is completely engrossing.
Alone, Daphne is nursing heartbreak like never before. Cast adrift by her parents, she is wallowing, struggling to find a reason to keep her faith her family and her god. But when she takes herself to task and faces her hurdles head on she is enlightened enough to realise that her faith is the one thing that she really has to rely upon, because no matter how much she may have considered that it had deserted her, the truth is that bad people do bad things in the name of her god.
Finding reason and capacity to forgive them is her challenge.
Life has handed Trevor a bum deal in many respects. It hasn’t exactly been an easy ride.
Reluctant to accept that good could possibly happen to him he has managed to life his live almost one step removed from anyone that means anything to him, believing that losing someone that hasn’t got a hold on his heart will be easier, he has hidden his heart away.
I really felt so sad for him, he deserved to be happy, no matter what he thought.
But all that changed when Daphne came into his life because her friendship was slowly morphing into something more, she meant more to him that either she realised or he was willing to admit.
But could this complete commitment-phobe see that his indifference and almost apathy was almost pushing the best thing that had ever happened to him away.
The book also gives us other characters that support the story along the way, Roman was someone that initially I want too keen on, he was a little too intense for my liking. Everything was so straight-laced, he was almost too opinionated.
His religion was paramount to him and I respected his desire to find a woman that shared his beliefs but I was relieved when he finally understood that you don’t have to find someone who is practically a clone in order to find happiness.
The one surprise I found was the portrayal of Logan. This pretty party girl completely flipped my opinion of her on its head, because she finally let me have a peak at who she really was, the fire that lay beneath the party girl and passion she had for those she really cared about.
Overall the story was a journey, it was emotional and dramatic. It had me laughing at times, but reaching for the tissues at other. It gave me characters that made me smile and others that left me shaking my head.
It took its time to get going but once it did, it was a beautifully crafted story.

“…you can’t lost something you never got the chance to have, and wouldn’t it be worth it? To have something you cherish so much that you’re horrified of losing it.”

Reckless Surrender is the second book in Author R. C. Martin’s Made for Love series, but is my first read by this author. It offers a story with multiple characters, each one on individual journeys, but somehow finding paths that intersect. Their stories are filled with faith, hope, and the possibility that love conquers all.

“Almost since the moment we met, we’ve done nothing but love each other.”

Reckless Surrender highlights the lives of four main characters. Each with distinctively different personalities. Each with their own thoughts, dreams, and aspirations. Roman is the epitome of the all-American boy. Smart, sexy, and handsome. The values that he holds most dear help to define and give him a steady balance throughout the story. Contrast that to Trevor who's a little rough around the edges, unpredictable, and different in his view of the world. The seed that is planted and grows, causing a relationship to bud and bloom between Daphne and Logan is unique, and captures our full attention. This leads to a remarkable story that can only be told in books. It opens the door for all the many wonderful things that occur in the pages that follow.

“What I love are the bits and pieces of her that tell her story.”

Told in multiple points of view from each of our main characters, Reckless Surrender was filled with many significant themes; love of family, friends, and God stood out first and foremost. Every character in this story had a black mark of some kind in their pasts that caused them to build of walls of reservation. However, when these themes were blended with their circumstances it resulted in many magical moments.

“I think I found peace knowing that God has a plan for my life and I’m not big enough to mess it up.”

There is nothing better then the genuine feels one gets when reading a truly good story. For me, this story was like a fresh breeze, offering newness to the old story of love. I wanted to breathe it in and make the moments last. It was a rare blend of tender and sultry, fast and frenzied. The story was meaty, and at times required more time to read in order to take in all the important details. However, it ensnared me as I absorbed every word.  There were many unexpected surprises. Some made me laugh, some made me cry. and some spawned that hated throw the Kindle moment that we all know is coming, but dread facing.

I am very happy to have been introduced to this series and author and look forward to many more great reads in the future.

I received this book in exchange for a honest review.

After reading ‘So much more’ (the third book in this series and enjoying it so much) I really wanted to read more books by R.C. Martin. So I was very enthusiastic to be giving the chance to read book 2 of this series, ‘Reckless surrender’.

One of the things that I loved in ‘Reckless surrender’ is that you get to read the story of two couples. Both couples story is really prominent in the book. Both have their own problems, happiness and their own feelings. I really loved that.

Daphne and Trevor are the ‘perfect’ couple, they trust and love each other, they’re honest with each other, they’re sweet together and love to cuddle. The only problem with that all is that they aren’t a couple!! They’re just two friends that love each other very much and can’t image their lives without each other but who are too afraid to ask for more from life or from each other.

For years now their friends have been hoping that Daphne and Trevor would take their relationship to the next step but both are stubborn and too afraid to do that. But Daphne’s best friend Logan is tired of waiting for them to see the light so she decides to push the two of them together (without them knowing this!). And she already has a plan to do this but for her plan to work, she needs the help of Daphne’s older brother Roman, which isn’t an easy thing to admit. Because Roman isn’t really her friend, you can even say that they don’t like each other. But both love Daphne very much and both want nothing more than for Trevor and Daphne to become a ‘real’ love couple. The plan is for Logan and Roman to fake a relationship with each other in the hopes that Daphne and Trevor will follow with their own. But although some things goes as planned, others aren’t. Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected places!

Although both couples were very different from each other, that just made this story so great. You have the love between Daphne and Trevor that’s already there and then you have this ‘new’ love between Logan and Roman. One of the things that R.C. Martin writes about in her books, is religion. And how each one of her characters experience this or not. Why one believes and one not. But the writer isn’t afraid to also write about other issues too, like loss, heartbreak, making hard decisions that will change your life forever. And although she writes about religion, she also gives us many love scenes in her books.

The only thing that I missed in the end of this story was an epilogue about Roman and Logan ( ) but I just discovered that the writer has written a novella about it!!! So I’m really happy about that!

Arc provided by R.C. Martin and the New Adult Book Club Group for and honest review.

This is book two in the Made for love series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. You don’t have to read the first one to fall completely in love with this book. I usually don’t like reading books that have multiple points of view and I couldn’t really get into the book at first. As I continued reading I came to appreciate the many perspectives because I really got to understand each character. The character development in this novel is excellent; the writing makes you feel as though you understand the characters and helps you develop a relationship with them.

Overall, this was a wonderful read that took you on an emotional rollercoaster. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Received a copy in exchange for an honest review

“He reaches up to trace the backs of his fingers down my cheek. Without any further warning, he leans down to kiss me. My lips part as I gasp softly, unprepared for the fight against him and the temptation that he is at such a close proximity. When his mouth grazes mine, I close my lips around his.”

4 stars. I really fell in love with this book and the characters. The book was fast paced and exciting to read!!

I don’t want to be her bandaid.

I don’t want to be his addiction.

But if we never cross that line, will I lose her?

If I don’t tell him what I want, will I lose myself?

Daphne and Trevor’s relationship was complicated from the start. Trevor fell in love with her the minute he saw her. But they were only ever just friends. Little did he know but Daphne was in love with Trevor also. Their pasts are complicated and devastating and this is what’s complicating everything for them. What will happen if they cross that friendship line?? What will happen if they don’t? This book was beautiful and I love reading every page of it.

Sigh, RC Martin knows how to get to my soul!
Reckless Surrender is a great read, especially if you follow up from The Promises We Keep. She writes with emotion, she gets the character’s personality all through the tip of her pencil. I am amazed of RC Martin’s abilities. I do love that you don’t have to read the first book before this one, but all the character twist and turn throughout each read.
I loved how we got a little deeper with the characters. Sure, we was brought back to God, believing, having a little hope, but we was also seeing a side to all the characters that bring out development.
Daphne and Trevor’s relationship was rocky, and had a few wild runs, but Trevor always loved her, even from a distance. It is amazing how we have friends who think outside of friendship, they think about future with their best friend. Some may not act on it due to the risk of the friendship crumbling around them, but it gives hope that maybe we need to stop holding onto what ifs, and continue into something that could be rocky.
Daphne always secretly loved Trevor too. Will this relationship last? Will their friendship be forever in depth to the “friendship zone” no matter how hard they try?
Every page of this book is beautifully written, and I am proud to say I am enjoying this series! Can’t wait to see where all the character’s go, and how much they develop throughout.

This is one of those reads where you have to take some time to digest everything when you are finished. There are so many feels in this book. I laughed, cried, was hopeful, excited, and at times devastated. I loved the characters most of the time and wanted to throw my e-reader at one of them at one point.
Reckless Surrender is the second book in the Made for Love series. Although it is a standalone novel, you meet the four main characters in book 1, The Promises We Keep. I went into this book with some preconceived ideas of characters that I loved and one that I really did not like at all. Let me tell you, RC Martin did a fabulous job of changing my mind, and convincing me to love the one character that I thought I hated. The way she wrote their stories and delved further into their true characters was amazing. I fell in love with Daphne, Trevor and Roman right away, and learned to love Logan as I got to know her better. They each had their struggles that they had to overcome in order to reach their true happiness.
When discussing the Made for Love Series with a blogger friend, the one word we both thought of when describing RC Martin’s writing is classy. All of her books are sexy and sweet and have characters with deep emotions and complex issues. And boy can Ms. Martin write a kiss. Just reading it will make you weak in the knees. I look forward to reading every book by her.
Reckless Surrender and the whole Made for Love series are definite 5 star reads!

This book has all the feels let me tell you! At first I thought I was going to dislike the multiple POV's but I think it actually became one of the strengths of the story since it allows us to see the mind set of each of the characters and what makes them tick (or you know what makes them make the choices they make) I think Logan is my favorite character from the book she is a total force of nature haha in a good way. And she is a fantastic example of a modern heroine of New Adult fiction. She may not always make the right decisions or she may take a different path to achieving what she wants but she is a smart, and polished woman who is learning the world and her place in it. But then we have Daphne, who is also a awesome character! She stands by her beliefs and her friendship with Logan is one of those come hell or high water nothing comes between them. I think that is also a major plot point and one of my favorite parts of any story. I love the best friends relationships because it's good to see women empowering other women instead of tearing them down.

The guys make up the other halves of these amazing women. And while they may have their moments of smacking the stupid button they are really great guys and totally deserving of their counterparts. There are some rocky roads to relationships in this book and I think the drama and angst is what makes it interesting. You get to the end of the book and you immediately want either another book so you can keep visiting these characters or you go back and reread this book from the beginning . . . Or both haha.

This book follows 4 integral characters; though it mainly focuses on Daphne and Trevor, Daph’s brother Roman and her bestfriend Logan also play a large part in the story. Daphne is from a strong Christian family but at 19 she makes one mistake that will define her for the rest of her life. Abandoned by her parents she lives with her brother Roman, and makes an unlikely friend in Logan. And even though that night broke her, if it hadn’t of happened she may never have met Logan…or Trevor.

Neither Daphne nor Trevor have wanted to ruin their friendship by taking it any further than what they have already, but they each fell in love with the other a long time ago. Fed up with the pair’s reluctance to admit their true feelings Roman and Logan take matters into their own hands. Together they must convince Daph and Trevor how great they could be, and they’ll do so by whatever means necessary…

When I first started this book I’ll admit I was a bit confused as some of the first chapters are from Logan and Roman’s POV, neither of whom are mentioned in the synopsis. But once their characters were explained and the story began to take hold, I actually really enjoyed the book. In fact I loved Logan and Roman; their antics to get Daph and Trevor together were brilliant! Thoroughly enjoyed this book – a great mix of drama, comedy and emotional scenes. PLUS it’s super long so you will definitely get your money’s worth 1-clicking this one!

Loved it!
When I was given the opportunity to review this book, I wasn't sure about it because it is the second in a series and I'm a bit OCD and really don't like starting a series anywhere but the beginning even if the book is listed as a standalone, but when I read, "Three and a half years ago, Daphne walked into my shop, kicked open the door to my soul, invited herself inside, and got comfortable. By the time I realized she’d made herself at home, it was too late to kick her out. Now, I’m in love with her. But I’m not her boyfriend. She’s not my lover. We’re just friends…" I knew even before I read the rest of the blurb that I was going to have to read this book. I am SO glad that I did, first off it really can be read as a standalone, I didn't fell that I was missing out on anything, but i will definitely be going back to read the first book, and am now following the author based on this amazing piece. I was immediately sucked into the story and could not put it down. As i followed the characters I went through so many emotions, that I felt like a wrung out rag at some points and was swooning at others, I teared up, I laughed, I gaped, I sighed, I swear at one point I thought I was going to pass out! I just can't stress enough how great this book is and I DEFINITELY recommend it! I can't wait for more! I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was unforgettable! This author is AMAZING! I was pulled into the story from the first chapter. I loved that I was able to learn the thoughts of four different characters. I loved them all, even the secondary characters...so many future stories here that I’m wishing for! I hope she’s reading this review ;)

RC had me feeling all of the emotions you hope to feel in a great book. I laughed, I cried, I yelled, I died, I swooned, I swooned again, and then I swooned some more! Most of all, I fell in love. I fell in love with the characters, I fell in love with her writing style, I fell in love with the story and it’s message. Believe. Believe in love and faith and what can happen when you open your mind and your heart.

RC Martin is such a beautiful story teller. Her eloquent writing captivates you and keeps you turning the pages from start to finish. I cannot believe this is only her second book! Just WOW. This is the first book I have read of hers, but certainly not the last. I am a fan for life and will rectify that situation very soon! I must now read her first book The Promises We Keep (Made For Love #1) as soon as possible! Thank you Miss Martin for the beautiful journey you took my heart, soul and mind on with Trevor, Daphne, Rome and Logan. BRAVO!

This is a nice long book, plenty of story going on to keep you enthralled, I particularly loved Daphne and Trevor, both with troubled pasts. Daphne found herself in a tricky situation which caused her parents abandon her and being religious and attending church regularly she turned to the church for help, but she was shunned by the congregation and she left the church and it seemed she left god too. Nursing her heartbreak she cuts herself off from her beliefs she ends up believing she is worthless. Trevor has had trauma in his life, he lost his grandmother and his brother and there are parts of that he cannot forgive himself for, so he too is another broken soul.

They have a bunch of great friends, and they both love each other as great friends. They don’t deserve love or to be loved in their own eyes, so how can their friends fix that? Well. some devious plans are put in place and Daphne’s brother Roman is involved in part of the plot along with Logan her very best friend. Logan talks him into plotting to put Daphne and Trevor together as a couple rather than as friends. This is really a terrific story, very sweet at times, I loved how the characters all interacted, how realistic they were and how great their friendships were.

A messy, love-filled romance…

This is the second in the series but you don’t need to read them in order – though you will probably want to! There are a lot of characters and story threads and, at first, I found myself lost in the many point of view switches and jumps in time periods. I’m glad I kept with it though as I knew it would be worth it and I was rewarded with not one but two make-my-heart-happy, emotion-filled stories.

Daphne and Trevor are offered a second chance and they have a lot to work out between them. And I want things to work out. They had built such a strong friendship and to see it all fall apart, to nothing, was just wrong… They are both trying to do right for themselves, for each other, and are willing to work through a lot of hard stuff to get there. There is angst and humour, anger but, above all, love…

Roman and Logan were a bit of wild card and it was a treat to watch their relationship build from a rocky start to something meaningful and life changing.

Through it all there is a theme of spirituality that invites you to share their thoughts and feelings on how it affects their lives. While I may not share their beliefs I appreciate the joy and fulfillment it brings to their lives.

Humour, emotion and drama make this another great addition to the series.

Reckless Surrendering my wallet to this author as I will MOST definitely continue to buy all of her books. I absolutely loved this book and to be honest I was a bit worried that it would not be able to compare with her first book, The Promises We Keep. But I was beyond pleasantly surprised and impressed. RC Martin your writing is beautiful, smooth, and extremely sweet and entertaining. The way you get into your characters' heads and guide us readers there also is fun and memorable. Thank you and please keep writing forever.

This story focuses on Daphne and Trevor and their unique love situation. Although they both obviously love, respect, and appreciate each other they both seem to do their best to fight these feelings. This is refreshing to read as it is very realistic. Plus it is so nice to see a strong and morally grounded couple as this just seems almost nonexistent in most books. I loved and appreciated this. What an amazing job RC Martin does of showing us about true and genuine love. Not to mention with how gorgeous, sweet, and playful Trevor is it is beyond impossible not to fall in love with him. I can only hope there are more books to come in this series and FAST.

I was given an arc free of persuasion for an honest review.

Reckless Surrender did not disappoint and had me drawn in from the very beginning.
I liked Daphne when she was introduced in The Promises We Keep and found myself relating to her on many levels in the second Made For Love Novella. She and Trevor were brought together by trials and tribulations they both had gone through in their young lives and found solace in their friendship together. Both have their struggles on finding their way back to God due to the hardships they have gone through, but they both have great friends and family surrounding them.
Logan is Daphne's best friend. Her polar opposite that she met under rather trying circumstances. However, their bond is unbreakable. Logan wears a mask of the girl that knows she is beautiful and can walk into any room and own it with just her looks alone. I wasn't a fan of her at all, but as I read on and managed to see the real Logan come to light; I was impressed. She is really a girl that just wants to find true love and be loved for who she really is.
Reckless Surrender can be read as a stand alone, as the story flows very well and is told from each characters POV. I will be reading this AGAIN!!!

'Reckless Surrender' is the second book in the Made for Love series by RC Martin.

The story is about Daphne and Trevor and their fight for love despite their broken pasts.

The story also tells Logan and Roman and what family and friends will do to help their loved ones get their happily ever after.

Daphne and Trevor are two people who are in love with each other but due to previous life events will not allow themselves to be together as they feel that if it went wrong then they would lose each other for good. Their belief is that it is better to have what they currently have and love each other in secret than to risk it all and then have nothing not each other.

In steps Logan. She has a plan to get her best friend to open up to her love so that they can be together. There is only one problem with the plan she needs Roman to help her. Let's just say that they have a 'rocky' relationship ever since they meet that fateful day.

There are twists and turns in the book as well as their road to their happily ever after.

The story completely different from the first and I really enjoyed it.

This book is a great read. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one.

This book was great. It's told from each of the main characters pov, which really helps you see what they are feeling throughout different parts.

Daphne and Roman are brother and sister. Logan became Daphne's best friend after a crazy experience brought them together. Trevor and Daphne have been in love with each other for over 3 years but won't cross line between friends and lovers.

Logan and Roman have always hated each other until they form a fake relationship to help push Daphne and Trevor to finally be together like they belong. They never imagined that being in a fake relationship could make them discover real feelings for each other. Daphne and Trevor finally give in to their feelings for each other and realize the true force of their love for each other.

This was a heartwarming story with some crazy twists thrown in to keep you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed the story and how friends finally became lovers and enemies became friends to more.

I was so happy to know that Reckless Surrender was the story of Daphne and Trevor. I was intrigued by them in The Promises We Keep. I should have know RC Martin would outdo herself and not only give us the heartbreaking story of Daphne and Trevor but the surprise of all relationships - Logan and Roman. I don't know how Ms. Martin does it but I fall completely enamored with her couples and Logan and Roman were it for me in Reckless Surrender.

We are treated again with alternate point of views from each of our main characters. I didn't realize how much I enjoy reading into each of their minds. The depth of each of their pasts and the challenges they face is so real. We are once again reminded what an important role God plays in their lives and how they bring each other peace.

Reckless Surrender is a standalone even though it is part of the Made for Love series. The entire series is beautifully written.

This is book 2 of the Made for Love series and can be read as a standalone; however, you will definitely want to go back and read the first book to get the full feel of the secondary characters and intro to Daphne and Trevor.

Daphne and Trevor are best friends and have been fighting their feelings for each other for 3 years. Too stubborn to want to risk losing the relationship they currently have with each other they almost destroy the best thing that could happen to them-best friends falling in love. All their friends can see the torture these two put themselves though and only Daphne has the touch to ease Trevor from his sleepless nights.

You'll laugh, you'll want to cry and throw your kindle at these two and hope that they see what is right in front of them. They each have their own reckless story, but once they surrender their past, their future is undeniable.
